First bite of pho ga (chicken)
    Nou Nou S.

It was very windy and cold as I drove into a strip mall with familiar eateries such as Mae Ornnit Thai, Mang Eton Filipino but overlook a hidden gem. There were plenty of parking and at times very busy. As you walked in, there's some decor on the walls and the restaurant is clean. I ordered 5 items: 1) Steak Pho 2) Pho Ga 3) Grilled beef banh mi 4) Grilled pork banh mi 5) Singapore pandan tofu. If you don't mind a little wait because everything is made to order. First let's start with the banh mi sandwiches. Both were delicious, the bread was perfectly crispy on the outer layer and soft in the middle but the grilled pork had better flavors than the beef. I would definitely order those again but they also have 3 others such as chicken, combination and fried tofu. For the pho, they offer 11 varieties but I chose the steak and pho. Something unique which I notice only at this location that they offer two choices of chicken 1) chicken breast or 2) chicken thighs and of course choose the dark meat. The broth were on point and full of umami. For dessert, I try their special that was advertised on the table - Singapore pandan tofu. As it arrive to the table, it was a lightly pandan flan served with two sauces 1) coconut cream and a ginger syrup. First, I taste the flan by itself and it was okay. But then when I smear the coconut cream on top, drizzle the ginger syrup with chunks of ginger and as I take the second spoon, It was silky, smooth and delicious especially with the ginger chunks. I wasn't able to get enough. I'm still thinking about it. Our server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. All staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely make another visit to try other items on their menu like their rice platter with bbq short ribs kalbi.

    Great Pho!

Used to be a regular when they were located closer to Springfield. The old place always had consistently good pho broth and thankfully still do when just recently tried again. We had great service here. Tried their summer roll with grilled pork rather than three typical shrimp and pork. The grilled pork paired well so definitely enjoyed it. The Vietnamese coffee was good as well. Tried their combination vermicelli and it was good too. Will put this place back in our go-to for pho.

The food was top notch! I got a pork banh mi and combination pho and they were fantastic. I can't recommend this place enough.

Amazing customer service! Was greeted as soon as my group walked through the doors. They accommodated our party of 5 so politely. Our waiter was amazing, re arranged our table and immediately came back to take our drink orders. She was also very attentive with maintaining our tea warm and refilling our water cups. Ambiance is very homie and you can tell it is very well kept. The place looks extremely clean! Everything is so organized. Everyone is treated as an equal and greeted as soon as you walk into the restaurant. They have a good system going on and overall seem very attentive. The food was phenomenal. I loved the pork banhmi it was so flavorful, and a good add on as a side with my soup. The beef and tripe soup was also delicious. Some people in our party got the large combination soup and it was a good size with perfect amount of proteins. My father got the chicken soup and our kind waiter brought the ginger to dip the chicken in, he loved it! The spring rolls and the peanut sauce is delicious! They cute our order of 2 into halves to share better with our party. It's the little attention to detail that we all appreciated. Love that this place is only a 10-15 drive from my home. Most importantly I love supporting a business that takes care of their customers and maintains a nice dinning environment. Will be coming back here! Amazing meal to start off the new year. 10/10 recommend!

Same name but completely different menu. The broth is different and a bit more oily. The portions seem a bit smaller. The spring rolls are different and that's the saddest part for me. Those spring rolls were the best and now they have the regular wrappers instead. The service was fine and the interior is the same. Overall not bad pho but not the original pho Cong Ly recipe.

Came in here randomly due to the rain and convenience. Typical Pho restaurant nothing too exciting to brag about. Food was good ordered the Filet Mignon Pho and you can see from the picture it visually is just ok. Ambiance was very quiet and chill. Service was very polite which always is a plus. If you are in this shopping center I would recommend but had better.

Could not eat this pho tastes bad and still had to pay for it

Sad to say this place has not been good only finding out they changed ownership last year. Went in for late lunch with my wife and daughter, order egg rolls which they no longer do the ones they were known for, salt pepper wings which was ok but served on top of onions that looks more deep fried than stir fried, and their pho which was sweet and something that tasted off with the broth, the meat also had an off putting taste to it as it had been cooked several days ago, when i brought it up with the waitress she said nothing was wrong with it and said no one else has complained about it. I told her we don't want the pho and take it back she said she can't take it off the bill and insisted me paying for it. I paid the biil and i am done with this place. This place use to be my favorite place but no longer

Casual pho restaurant. I really enjoyed their pho along with their thai tea. They have an abundance of options to choose from. Service is decent. One recent upset was that I ordered two pho soups to be delivered through Doordash and they had forgotten to include the meat for one of the order's. Other than that one hiccup, this place is a must especially during those cold winter days.

I'm glad to see so many reviewers commented on the friendliness and attentiveness of staff. Both times I've been, customer service was excellent. The pho tai is solid, and the regular size is more than plenty. Generous amounts of quality, lean meat (not chewy or fatty like some places). Broth is light but good in flavor, and a squeeze of lime cuts it nicely. There's nothing wrong with the spring rolls, but I prefer a different type of wrappers. These are pretty greasy to the touch, but filling tastes fine. Saw someone across the restaurant who ordered the clay pot fish... Think I'll have to try that next time because it smelled amazing. Thank you for the comfort food, Pho Cong Ly!

Went to dinner on a Friday night with the family. To be honest, the last time I came here I was not impressed. However, I am always down to give a second chance. When we got there, the restaurant was pretty empty, and that was at 6:30pm. Over the course of the dinner, the restaurant filled up a bit. Besides the usual Pho restaurant decor, the place was pretty clean! Service was a bit slow, even though there were only a few tables, but they did have a sign indicating they were short staffed. We ordered Cong Ly Crispy Spring Rolls, Spicy Hue Noodle Soup and a couple bowls of the Cong Ly Special Soup. I understand that the price of everything has gone up, but their prices seem a bit higher than other pho restaurants. The spring rolls were so GOOD! It might have been since they actually use rice paper. They were perfectly crispy and very flavorful. I could have eaten a couple orders of those. The Bun Bo Hue was decent but probably not the most authentic. I felt like it needed some more shrimp paste to it, and it was missing the hock and pork blood cakes. It had a decent kick. The Pho was pretty good. They had a lot of meat in the bowl which is always a plus! Overall, it was a decent meal. I will definitely come back to dine again.

Service is friendly, food is good enough and the ice water is filtered with lemon, not from tap! That's a plus.

What was especially good was the delicious black bean sauce that came with the rice. I thought the tasty miso soup was excellent, very rich and silky. Banchan was kimchi, Danmuji fruit and slices of white onion. Accompanying the banchan was a dipping sauce that was similar to, but not the same as the black bean sauce. I will definitely be back.

I love the rice they use and the other ingredients are always fresh. They are generous with their portions. The chicken fried rice comes with a side of fresh onions and I some kind of pickled daikon (I think), a little tart, a little sweet and a nice crisp bite. Super yummy! And a side of ja-jang, I believe that is what it is. Very good and I eat it separately.

We tried A&J and liked it a lot!…read more This is not a typical Chinese-American restaurant. A&J has quite a few pleasantly unexpected dishes. Service was welcoming and efficient. On a mid-Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was about ¾ full. We started out with the Wonton Soup and the Spicy Wonton soup. The Wonton soup is just okay, but the Spicy Wonton Soup is wonderful and highly recommended. For another appetizer, we ordered the Scallion Pancake. It has a nice dense texture and I really liked it. It would've been even better if it came with a dipping sauce. We also ordered the pickled cabbage. It was good, though lacking seasoning. Our first entrée was ground pork in a delicious sauce accompanied by sprouts and thinly sliced cucumber (or was that zucchini?). Recommended! Our second entrée was a Pan Fried Beef Bun. The beef was flavorful but the bread was kinda dry. Our last entrée was the Beef Wraps. These were great! Who woulda thunk that beef and fresh carrots would go together so well?! Oh, the chili sauce in a jar on the table is extra tasty. At the end, before we got our check, we were given a plate with sliced cucumbers in a light tasty sesame chili sauce. Excellent! But the hot tea was an epic fail. It had no flavor whatsoever. Peeking inside the teapot, all I could see was a micro tiny tea bag floating or sort of sinking. One other thing I kinda don't want to bring up in light of the great food we enjoyed, but need to in the spirit of full disclosure, is to mention that A&J shares space in the building with several other businesses. The restrooms are common to all the businesses. A&J needs to lean hard on the property owner/manager to do a deep cleaning in those restrooms. I'll leave it at that.

Some of our food favorites were the moo ping with sticky rice as an appetizer. The pork marinade was really good! The crispy chicken with green curry was also delicious. The chicken had a great crisp, and it wasn't an overwhelming amount of green curry. The volcano tom yum dish using Mama instant noodles was a visually stunning dish. It was also tasty, served with a lot of seafood. The Mama cup was repurposed to hold veggies. I kind of wished there were more seasoning or some sauce with the veggies because they were a bit dry, but we mixed it in with the noodles, so no biggie. We devoured the mango sticky rice, that was about $9. We should've ordered 2 of those to share amongst us 4. The mango was perfectly ripe and delicious!!! Jang Won has friendly, personal service from the Korean ladies who work there. They were super helpful in walking us through the menu and helping us decide how much food to order. We should have listened when they said three dishes would be enough for four people, but we went with four anyway and ended up with delicious leftovers, so no regrets. All the noodles and dishes are shareable portions, which is great for groups. They also fry their meats really well. The pork was crispy and so good, and I totally get why Korean fried foods are so popular. Next time, I would try the chicken since the pork was just a little dry but still very good overall. The spicy seafood soup was incredibly umami forward and so good that I kept wanting more with every bite. The noodles have a slightly chewy yet smooth texture that makes them very addictive. The restaurant has a homey, comfortable atmosphere, and there is easy parking right outside, which is always a plus in Annandale. The reason for four stars instead of five is the kimchi. It was too salty and not fermented enough. For a restaurant in Annandale, we honestly expect better kimchi. That said, the radish kimchi was good. Overall, great food, generous portions, and warm service, just hoping the kimchi improves next time.
