Having to drive down to CC Home Depot we thought we'd at least get lunch. One of our favs is Basil, closed on Sunday. After a brief Yelp search, I picked Pho Country based on reviews and extensive menu. Super close to Home Depot right on the Old 395, easy to find, plenty of parking and simple decor. As it was just after opening on a Sunday morning, we were the only ones seated, though a number of people came in for take away. Warm greeting, brought out water right away. We perused the menu, made our selections and placed our order. First up, they treated us to a cup of egg flower soup...not a big fan, but it was good and wasn't about to turn down free!! As they were out of spring rolls, we order their pot stickers (6/order...one's missing because my wife is quick on the draw!) They were decent, not the best or worst. Crisp, yet doughy with a fairly bland filling. I'm a major Phonatic, so went with my traditional which is their #25...rare beef, well done flank and tendon in a very flavorful beef broth. Ample supply of rice noodles and the typical garnish plate of basil, bean sprouts, lime and jalapeno slices. I always add chili oil to kick it up a notch or 3! Great flavor, the regular size is plenty big enough. My wife opted for the #44...flame broiled pork with egg roll over vermicelli noodles, her standard. She said it hit the spot, generous portion. All in all, a perfect lunch for our journey to Carson City. Can't comment on other Pho locations in the area, but I'm sure we'll be by again if we're hungry, in the mood for Pho and in the area. read more

This was our first time here. We went here after an event and it was freezing outside, so it was perfect weather for some nice hot pho! I ordered the combination pho with rare beef, well-done flank, beef brisket, tendon, tripe, and beef meatballs. The beef broth had good flavor, but I wouldn't say that this was the best pho that I've had. I'm not sure what it was missing, but it needed something maybe the broth wasn't as developed and needed more time saturating the flavors from the spices and beef bones. Also, there wasn't a lot of meat in the bowl. But overall, it was good. We also tried the spring rolls, which were good. The peanut sauce had good flavor and wasn't watered down. My mom order the hot and sour soup, which had good flavor. I really liked my dad's soup, which was tofu seafood soup. It was silk in texture and had peas, carrots, tofu, egg, and pieces of seafood. Taste of PHO between 1-10 10 being best. I give it a 2. The meat taste very fatty due to the broth has very little flavor, almost didn't want to swallow it because it did not taste normal. I ate it, hid help me. Spring rolls meat has all fat no meat for real. Waiting for my check is almost impossible so I'll have to go up and get it. No help here what so ever. I've been here a couple of times since COVID and the service has been affected which is understandable. The hours on Yelp and the hours at the store are an hour different. On Wednesdays they are already turning away people around 6:30 because they close at 7:00 on that day. The #1 Spring rolls were about half the diameter that I have experienced on previous visits. I can't even tell my pieces of them even had shrimp in them as I shared them with someone else. I also ordered the #48 Bun which was my favorite here and the meat definitely was flame broiled and neither were the shrimp. As described in the menu. The egg rolls also seemed like they had been cooked in slightly old oil. And some of the greens in the dish could have been fresher. I get that the industry is going through a tough time. I was so happy that we found this place. We often struggle to find decent restaurants in Carson, and this place is far better than most. It's nothing fancy inside, just a wide open seating area. But the food is good! And the price is also good. This is not a combination you will find often. I got the Mi La Clay (40), which is $11.50 and not only is it full of different types of meat and sea food, it has tons of delicious veggies. The portion was big enough I had leftovers later on. We also start with a sampler platter, the country combination which is egg rolls, Rangoon, and pot stickers. I potstickers are delicious! Overall I've been here twice and I liked my food both times. My wife was craving pho so we stopped here about 4:30pm on a Saturday before heading back to Reno. She had heard good things about this place. The place appears to be in a building that once housed a Taco Time or something similar because there are still the windows in place that resemble it. We parked on one side which appears to have been the old drive through. There was an entrance but there was a sign on the door which said "please use other door". So, we walked around to the other side. On that side there was one double door with a sign on one that said, "please use other door". So, we tried the door without the sign and walked in. Just a little bit confusing. Upon walking in, it felt like we entered a lobby or enclosed patio with seating. However no one was seated there. So, we entered the next set of double doors. The inside appears to be decorated with a Vietnamese theme and there appeared to be a lot a tables in the open area. It was a little busy in there and we were greeted pretty quickly, taken to a table, had our drink orders taken and provided menus. We decided to try the pot-stickers as an appetizer and we each ordered a variety of Pho. The pot-stickers were delivered to the table very quickly. They looked really good but both my wife and I thought they were a little doughy and chewy, maybe under-cooked. Our Pho orders arrived shortly after and looked really good. They were steaming hot when they arrived. We asked about chili oil and were told it was on the table which we found. We were also brought the normal pho fixings including bean sprouts, jalepeno and basil. We both seasoned our pho to our liking and everything tasted really good. The broth was especially delicious. The prices are great and the service was solid. The pho is a 5 but the potstickers were a 3 so overall we are giving it a 4. Next time we will skip the potstickers. read more

The pho here is probably reasonable for Carson City. Solid three stars for a good but not great bowl of combination pho. In other words, it'll satisfy your pho craving, but it's not awesome. Instead of bottles, they have packets of sriracha and hoisin. When we enter the restaurant the server did not greeted or even acknowledge that we were there. We waited for about 15 mins and still no comment even though we had eye contact multiple time and we were waiting by the door where it has a sign as wait to be seated, still nothing! There was a lady in front of us too who has been waiting longer and she was also not acknowledge or even said "we will be with you". The place looks dirty, it stinks and the worse is the attitude of the workers! It probably got cockroaches and all kinds of nasty meat in the back kitchen! I guess they never heard of customer service before! Don't come to this place! Save your money and your peace of mind that you will be treated like a customer! Food looks trash too! This was my first order from Pho Country and first time using Door Dash. Truth! I live way down in Minden. The order was hot and delivered within 37 minutes. I was impressed. The BBQ Pork Fried rice is some of the best I've ever had. Wor Wonton Soup was chock full of veggies and wontons (disassembled so as not to get too soggy) and the broth was really tasty. The Beef Pho was flavorful and filled with all beef items. I tried to be adventurous with this one. The Thai ice tea was good and a neighboring table suggested Bowl 44. Going down hill fast! The man and I used to really enjoy this restaurant in the past. Staff seemed as if they're the owners or family. Tonight the staff were unfamiliar to us. They didn't provide great customer service at all. The food was less than and seemed old. Half way through our meal at 7pm they started cleaning up around us. They went as far as putting the chairs on the tables. They were very focused on getting the restaurant cleaned up for the not they didn't make any effort to check on any of the customers. The thing I love about this place, my waiter always gives me recommendations on how to save money. Lol.. I randomly tell them what I want to eat and they always suggest what to omit and what to add to give me what I want for the price that is written on items. We had an awful experience at this restaurant. The service was unwelcoming-- when we asked a question about a dish and were ordering. the waiter turned his whole body, inching away for no reason. The other waiter hastily placed our food down and didn't offer us chopsticks or say anything. They never checked on us. We had to flag them down for basic things like napkins and chopsticks. I could overlook bad service if the food was decent, but it was bland and lacked the freshness promised by the sign outside. We were trying to give them the benefit of the doubt so maybe they're just having a bad day but they were they could still treat us with courtesy because they are serving us paying customers but no, we felt unwelcome. Pho Country was one of my favorite spots in town, although the servers weren't that attentive I really enjoyed the food so I was always going back. However my last visit there as I was halfway through my drink I suddenly saw a cockroach float to the top and immediately lost my appetite. I discreetly walked the cup up to the front because there were no servers coming to check on us, and when I showed the workers they didn't seem surprised nor offered to do anything to fix the issue. June 3, 2020 - Update: we had such a wonderful experience our first visit, we had to come back for more! We placed our order for pickup again and to make it easy we just ordered the exact same thing as last time. We knew we loved it and it helped make the decision making process a little easier the order came out quick and they even brought it right out to our vehicle. Thank you so much! Time to dig in!! Unfortunately this is where the dining experience turns sour. It was nothing like our first takeout from Pho Country. Super oily, no vegetables, tons and tons of onions and hot chili peppers. It was pretty inedible. We are thinking it might have been a different cook in the kitchen this time. We most likely won't be coming back here. May 26, 2020: Ahhh what a treat!!! We placed an order for pickup. Gentleman on the phone was super friendly and helpful with the menu. I have been eating here since I was a young teenager. Pho Country is by far my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I mostly order their Pho, but always snag bites from my friends and family and have never been disappointed. My favorite fish at the moment is their 31A, but I also absolutely adore their 38. Their spring rolls and crab Rangoons are my favorite appetizers! Lately, I've been calling and picking up my food a lot. Not only is it always ready in 15 min, the call for food only lasts a minute at most (if you're ordering just for yourself). I really like how fast the call goes by, so if you have anxiety about calling and ordering, do not worry. Just have everything ready for when you do. Wow! This place gets super-busy! Luckily, I was dining alone and got a small table to the side. The waiter in my section was handling all tables (it seemed) but he still did an admirable job keeping up and being attentive. Unfortunately, the Sunday night I dined there they were out of the shrimp spring rolls (which i had heard were amazing), so i only had a beer and a soup. The #27 Pho was hearty and filling with beef and meatballs. I came with the traditional side plate of herbs, sprouts, lime and jalapeno slices. I used them all. I am also a fan of both the hoisin and sriracha sauces, so those went in the bowl as well. The broth was mild in flavor, but warm and soothing on the way down. The meats were plentiful and continued to cook as they steeped in the broth. Glass noodles were cooked just right...wish they gave me a pair of chopsticks (maybe I should have asked?). This place is great! The Pho is very tasty! Soo many options on the menu and the prices aren't bad. They have great customer service and fast service. It didn't take long to get my food after I ordered it and they were happy to customize it to my liking. If you have dietary restrictions or are on a liquid diet then you should definitely eat here because it's early customizable to your specific needs. Maybe one of the only pho places in town. It however is authentic Vietnamese food. We had the pho beef noodle soups and it was filling and good. The menu selection is big so if you don't want noodle soup, there are many items to choose from. The condiments and sauces are all packaged and individualized to maintain cleanliness. So there's no sharing bottles. It wasn't busy around noon on a weekend but customers started trickling in closer to 1pm. This is one of my favorite places to eat when it comes to Pho in the Carson City area. I really enjoy the #35 wonton pho on a cold day or the #48 dry bowl on a hot day. There spring rolls are AMAZING. I have been coming to this place for the last 6 years and always have the same servers. The owners of this place are so friendly and always keep the littles entertained with fortune cookies. The service is always fast- I have never had to wait to be seated before. Holy Pholy this place is good! This was the best and most fresh Pho I've eaten in my life, not joking. I had to personally tell the owner how I felt about my meal when I left. I had just finished a half marathon in Tahoe and was ravenous. My body must have been craving a big bowl of warm comfort but since I had carbo-loaded the night before, I omitted the noodles and asked for only veggies, shrimp, and chicken in broth. We ordered the shrimp spring rolls and pork crispy rolls which were also the best I have had. I can't reiterate enough how fresh everything was. I must mention the vegetables in my Pho were so perfectly cooked and bright in color, the chicken was all white meat and extremely tender, and the shrimp melted in my mouth. The broth was nowhere near "too salty" and only tasted flavorful, I drank every last drop. Already looking forward to ordering the same exact thing next time I drive through Carson. read more
