Several dining seats had tape covering rips, which really signals it's time for an upgrade. Service, however, was excellent. Staff were prompt, friendly, and attentive throughout the visit, which was easily the highlight of the meal. I ordered the pho soup and the Vietnamese egg roll sampler. Both were good but nothing extraordinary. The flavors were solid, just not memorable. What stood out more was the pricing: appetizers were over $15, nearly the same as the pho soup itself, which felt high for what was served. Overall, Pho Cyclo still delivers decent food and great service, but the restaurant is aging and could benefit from some updates--especially the seating. With the current pricing, the value doesn't quite match the experience. read more

I got the mi xao tom and we also tried the chay giờ chạy & gọi cuốn tôm. I liked the chạy giờ but the peanut butter sauce for the goi cuốn didn't have enough peanut butter. This place has been around for as long as I have (and probably longer). Broth is middle of the road in terms of both savoriness and sweetness -- it's pretty balanced and enjoyable from the first sip to the last. I really liked how you could get a "small" even though it was still too much for me to finish. (Leftover pho makes for delicious breakfast the next day! They very nicely packed it up for me.) The chicken from the Cyclo 5 Flavors was well-flavored but a little tougher from the grill. The shrimp rolls are a nicely sized portion and very crispy. When I was almost back to Manassas I received a call saying the kitchen packwr has missed putting the three orders of crispy rolls in and did I want to drive back and get them or get a refund. On a recent trip to Annandale, I stopped at Pho Cyclo, as it came highly recommended. The place is quaint and was busy on a weekday around 2PM. Ordering was simple, as the lady working the counter spoke perfect English and was very helpful, especially since I needed to ensure my broth was packed tightly for the long ride home and that the hot and cold items were packed separately, as I wouldn't be eating this Pho for several hours. I got enough for 5 of us and after we heated the broth and then added all the beautiful, fresh, and crisp veggies and the tender chicken - it was time to eat! The broth was really good, but I didn't notice as much star anise nor cinnamon flavors in it. We still absolutely enjoyed it! I prefer a clear, non-oily broth and that was exactly what this was. On our way home from DC searching for good Vietnamese food. Grew up in Los Angeles - the heaven of Vietnamese food, I was told VA has some quality Vietnamese food, unfortunately this is not the one. Maybe some interesting combination like sausage with arrowroot(?) but they are tasteless and dry... even the dipping fish sauce is missing the taste. Ordered 2 large Pho Tai Nam Gan Sach* something similar to combination. Broth is bland and flavorless, some spices are missing. Only two or three thin slices of meats, tripes, tendons, not even a good portion of vermicelli, I am a bit shocked. Probably the staff missed hearing my last ordered of the 5 flavored rice which I usually ordered anywhere I go. I didn't bother to take a chance to reorder as we should be on the road again. Instead I ordered ice Vietnamese coffee In a to go cup. Turn out it was the worst choice. It was dark and bitter. I expected it should be Vietnamese dripping coffee with condensed milk and pour into ice! Not some instant coffee! Later I tried to add more condensed milk but it was still bad. Only a few sip it went straight to trash. It made me sick. Could be the ice, could be the milk... The 10hrs drive back home I felt terribly sick n diarrhea for 2 days. read more

The summer rolls were probably made days ago. It was dried out and so hard like plastic. The server carefully took our orders of 5 various pho, then came out with 5 of the same thing. He then said he'll give us new ones... took the pho in and just came out with the same pho. The server then said it's not his fault, he just brings out what the kitchen screws up.
