Lemongrass-flavored tofu is a distinctively Vietnamese specialty and theirs gave off a mouthwatering aroma, made all the more so by the fact that I didn't have time to eat it right away. The rules I got were a decent size and came with an ice peanut sauce; they had a bit of cucumber that I could've done without, but otherwise some nice ingredients. Although the meal was not bad I do feel they made the dishes to cater to more western customers than traditional. Fresh squeezed lemonade - 4/5 actually very good. Love the sweet and sour Fresh rolls - 2.5/5 packed a little too full of veggies and noodles, would've preferred it to be skinnier and more balanced. The fillings were fine but nothing special and the rice papee skin did taste a little old and tough. I liked the dipping sauce Pho - 3/5 on a cold day, hot soup is always good! First time at Lantern House. All the food was high quality, if perhaps a little on the safe/bland side compared to some of our Eden Center favorites. Bánh xèo (just called "Crepe" on the menu here) is one of my tests of a good Vietnamese kitchen, and the version here came out quick, hot, and crisp, with a generous garnish of basil, cilantro, and mint (but not big enough lettuce). It was a bit light on the bean sprouts, the carrots were barely pickled, and the nước chấm (sauce on the side) was bland, but I would still order it again. My newer go-to-Pho restaurant near my apartment. I LOVE the Ginger Steak Pho. Kind of tastes medicinal; especially during the cold days. The food is fresh and quick to serve and there's always plenty of available booths to dine-in even if you're dining in solo. I eat here at least once every month. They're one of the best and most clean Pho restaurant to eat in at in Falls Church (NoVA). They even have beers and wine choices. And they have Karaoke nights! read more

Took takeout today after seeing mostly positive reviews. Did not try the Pho but ordered several items- fish, shaken beef, crepe, etc. My first warning was picking up food there on a Friday- completely empty. The food was well below what what I expect, and the total was over $100. I am not particularly a stickler when it comes to food quality but every single item was not good in any way- oversalted, overcooked, soggy, meat dishes overfilled with veggies/bean sprouts etc. I am really not sure who is making the food here but the owners ought to try what is coming out of the kitchen because it is not good. This is not Vietnamese food- all the flavor of these dishes could easily be made by anyone. Maybe the Pho here is excellent but everything else I would not touch! I am in total shock that this place is charging nearly $20 an entree for the quality they are giving, really disappointing. This used to be our go-to Vietnamese place when we didn't feel like fighting traffic at Seven Corners. They make a good banh mi, their vermicelli platter is tasty, and the clay pot delicious. Lately however there has been more filler -- my last clay pot for example was about 90% rice with a thin veneer of veggies and tofu on top. The turning point for us however was the overpowering smell of cleaning products inside the restaurant, which detracts from the meal. By the look of how empty it's been lately, I don't think we're the only ones who've noticed. read more

This is the third time we've eaten here over the past year, and unfortunately, each time it's made us sick. At first, we assumed it was something else, but after this last visit, we're pretty certain this restaurant is the common factor. We even discussed it beforehand, thinking we needed to pinpoint the cause--and now we feel confident we have. The food always tastes great, so we're not sure what's going on. The food here is reasonably priced and quite tasty. My friend and I stopped by for dinner yesterday and we got our food pretty quickly. We enjoyed the donut making video they had going on in the background as it provided good entertainment value while we were waiting for our food. GRILLED PORK ON RICE - 13.45 Lots and lots of rice, and a good amount of grilled pork that's been topped with oil and scallions for garnish. The pork was flavorful and cooked well. The bits of fat on each pieces gave it a juicier texture and deeper flavor. The sauce was really good, too and the veggies were decent. Sadly, I don't like cucumbers so I left them there. I wish this came with a fried egg or some sort. Too much rice, so I didn't end up finishing it. My friend got the grilled pork with vermicelli and there were also a lot of vermicelli noodles that she wasn't able to finish. She also got the summer rolls but unfortunately, sneaky pieces of cilantro were wrapped inside them so I wasn't the biggest fan of my bite. My son had pho and loved the herby, anise scented broth. I had a clay pot with beef that was AMAZING . The broken rice is cooked n the pot in the juices of the beef and is so delicious. I took some of my kids here while they were visiting. Great food and great service. It's in a non-descript strip mall type building but there's adequate parking and the food is great so worth going to. The setting is very casual and relaxing; not set up for fancy meals. We've gone a few times now and have never been disappointed. You just can't get it wrong, from the banh mi, the classic phos (I like the pho ga), and the vermicelli dishes which I normally order during the summer as the noodles are properly served at room temperature.
