Sophisticated Golden Chicken: 5/5 - Great curry sauce and the chicken was very tender. Really enjoyed this dish. Country banquet vermicelli w/pork: 4/5 - Classic dish that I love and this was a solid entry. I always heat up the noodles (I don't like them cold) and add Sriracha and I'm happy. My itinerary gave me the chance to try this place, but the drab shopping center didn't get my hopes up. The interior of this particular restaurant, however, is quite impressively rendered with wood styling and plenty of space. The belowground bathrooms are odd in the sense that the door is wide open and it doesn't feel very private, but I'm not really rating those. The menu is distinctive, with ephemerally named and diverse dishes. While I note the vegetarian section, some items were listed with eggs and were named as "vegan", which does not compute to me. Other people seemed to be customizing their dishes extensively and the servers were attentive, so I think you could probably find something to eat here but the written menu seems inaccurate to me. With that caveat out of the way, the food delivered. I ordered a tomato soup garnished with fresh dill, one of those dishes that suggests a European influence which sets Vietnamese cuisine apart from others. When the couple of chilis on top kicked in is when the flavor experience really got good. Listening to another table get described the hot sauce options, I rather which I'd availed myself of them earlier. Having said that, my soup had at least a full tomato plus a lot of soft tofu that isn't normally my favorite but which worked well in this soup. Other options ranged from the conventional to the experimental, but on the strength of what I tried an experiment may well be worth trying. read more

We pass this location often and finally decided to place an order for take-out. The location is very clean and upon entry, we were graciously greeted. The ambiance of the restaurant was very warm with decorations of flowers topped off with an indoor fountain. There were plenty of seating for small to large parties. Parking was plentiful for a weekday dinner time. Each dish was prepared fresh and had a lot of side vegetables, either to eat or decoration. The taste was delicious and the portions were hefty. I've been there a long time ago but was not a part of Yelp at that time. I recently went and I was VERY surprised at how authentic the food tasted. It was close to authentic as it could get. I went with a large group and we shared a lot of our dishes. I got the Canh Chua Tom (sour soup with shrimp). The canh chua was very delicious - a mixture of sour from the tamarind and a bit of sweet from the pineapple. It came with a big bowl of rice - you can scoop some rice into a small bowl and with some of the soup and voila! My friend ordered the Ca Kho To (caramelized fish in stone pot). It was actually a little salty for our liking but if you eat it with the rice and canh chua, it helps a lot. So not enough to give to it a 4 stars. The service was excellent. Our waitress kept coming back and refilling our waters and was very attentive. Highly recommend for a large gathering! read more

Nope... ain't it... food took half an hour to come out... place was 1/2 filled, if that. Only 1/3 of the tables had any food. Entrees came at different times. Also took them forever to bring any type of hot sauce. First entree was the hieu thieu. The server came out a few minutes after my son started eating it and admitted they forgot the pork and quail eggs. They came out later with the missing protein. I was fine with that and glad they told me. The rest of the food came 5-10 minutes later. The Bun Bo hue and Bun Rieu were missing the pork blood. I asked about it and they said they no longer had that topping (it was pictured in the menu). The Bun Bo Hue did not have the usual lemon grass or beef flavor that it's supposed to. We also got Vermicelli noodles with pork and spring roll. The portion was so small. It barely had any noodles. Nice decor but service and food need much improvement. It's not easy to find Vietnamese food with such variety and traditional dishes. Vietnamese cuisine is so much more than just pho. I came here from a dear Vietnamese friend's recommendation and enjoyed some truly wonderfully made dishes. Hosted a Mother's Day dinner at Present and it was a great location for the occasion. All of the food was delicious; I particularly loved the duck in tamarind basket (vịt sốt cam) and the silken shawl imperial autumn roll (cha giờ rêi). Our group consisted of about 15 people and service was attentive and helpful. The decor is nice, with a small pond inside and wooden tables/chairs. My main gripe here is with the service. I made a reservation through Google for a Saturday dinner to celebrate my dad's birthday because the ambiance seemed nice from the photos online. The reservation process was simple through Google assistant, but when arriving at the restaurant they had issues finding my reservation even though it wasn't busy. I told them several times I had made reservations beforehand and would have preferred for this to be acknowledged especially since the restaurant was not busy. What we ordered: Autumn rolls 10/10 - crispy & unique. Everyone in our party enjoyed these. Calamari 9/10 - no complaints Papaya salad 6/10 - plain, nothing special. Felt like it was missing something, maybe another type of veg? Bo Luc Lac 10/10 beef was tender. Vietnamese dad approved Clay pot fish 8/10 - good. Fish was well cooked, not over or under. Clay pot pork 4/10 - too salty! Would have been better if the pork was cut in thicker pieces instead of thinly sliced Duck with tamarind 5/10 - duck was dry. Disappointed. Now to the faux paux. I'd discretely mentioned to the waiter earlier that we were celebrating my dad's birthday and did not expect anything extra, but thought it would have been nice if they could wish him happy birthday. The waiter just said "oh ok". We finished our meal without a mention of the birthday which would have been fine. However, our male waiter came by the table and got everyone's attention just to tell us he could not do anything for his birthday. That was a real cringe worthy moment. It would have been perfectly acceptable to say and do nothing and we would have understood. But to come by to announce to our whole table was in poor taste. They also had the audacity to include 30% tip for themselves in the bill, and then add an additional blank tip line. This type of practice feels sneaky and left a bad taste in our mouths. Maybe my next visit will be much better as far as the food wise. Service here is decent also when you walk in you noticed I pretty complexed interior which is really a shame that it does not live up to its expectations the amount of customers that are in here at this time, where is everybody can? DON'T ORDER THE PORK RIBS IN THE CLAY POT! It is definitely not traditional with the caramelized sugar and the fish sauce that is sautéed on the side and then combined. Also the meat that is used is BOILED you know what I mean, like when you bite into a brisket at a barbecue house and know that they boil it, pretty much hear the same. The meat should have a snapback effect when you pull from it not just fall off the bone. Y'all can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time with this, Stop boiling the meat! The music and Ambience kind of matches the restaurant and this is definitely a place that I would take a first date. Parking is small so don't bring a large vehicle unless you have a can opener. I came here recently and tried the Papaya Salad with dried, shredded beef as the appetizer. I ordered grilled chicken with dry rice noodles, or vercimicelli and a side of Steamed veggies. The portions were great, everything was fresh and tasty. Good size for the dipping sauces for take out. I am trying out different style Asian cuisines. Unfortunately, some of the flavors are really new to me so I don't have a frame of reference to relate to. I liked the papaya salad, but I felt it was missing something. The taste was sort of bland and the shredded papaya was hard to eat, sort of like straw. Again, I don't know if I was eating it correctly. I asked her what do I do with the crackers and she said eat it with the salad. But they did not stack or fold so...I could have been eating it all incorrectly. Was craving Vietnamese food on a Friday night after a long week, and ended up picking Present due to their extensive menu options. Ordered a noodle dish (bun rieu), a salad dish (goi hai san trai thom), and a beef dish (bo luc lac) to share. Everything was flavorful, but the pineapple was my personal favorite, both in terms of flavor and presentation. The noodles in bun rieu could have been better since some parts were stuck to each other and/or broken. The restaurant is spacious, with peaceful decor. The service was decent but a little too aggressive-they kept asking if they could take things away while we were still working on the food. Asked my ladies at Purity Organix nails (see my review), where they liked to eat, and this is what they suggested. We were skeptical to go somewhere not in the Eden Center but WOW never judge a book by its cover ! Hidden in a tiny strip mall down route 7, when you walk in, the interior is clean bright and welcoming with a gorgeous water feature ! Had a fabulous tequila martini unsweetened, fresh spring rolls, vegan papaya salad, shrimp sweet sour soup, stir fried bok choy, whole grilled fish, tamarind duck. Absolutely everything had a balanced flavor profile - nothing too sweet nothing too savory or saucy. The flavors were delicate and complex and FRESH!! The accoutrements that came with the grilled fish and were fabulous, and everything was tenderly cooked. ngoc was a server and she was EXCEPTIONAL!! Present is a place that appeals to all the senses.  The space is open and airy and graced with beautiful and colorful orchids, not to mention the peaceful and gracious fountain wall.  The names of the dishes, such as "cow in an open field", "fish in shallow water" and "duck in a tamarind basket" (which, in addition to the autumn roll appetizer, happen to be our favorite three...) sound enticing and lyrical.  Then, there is the food, which is always delicious and fresh.  The iced coffee is also really, really good. The servers are very friendly and helpful without being hard to find or intrusive.  We also appreciate that they sit parties far apart from each other.  All these things make Present our favorite local spot for Vietnamese food. read more
