One of the best Vietnamese restaurants I've eaten at in a while. I ordered the summer rolls, beef pho (Pho Dac Biet), and a spicy noodle dish with beef and shrimp (special menu). The pho broth was excellent and very aromatic. I overheard other customers saying the shaky beef was popular too so I'll be back to try that next time! Visited May 14th 2024. There aren't too many Vietnamese restaurants in the US that serve Bun Cha (and I grew up in Southern California). So whenever I find one that does, I always make it a point to drop in. Customer service Pork Steamed Buns: The pork belly was nice and juicy. The sauce was amazing, although I would've eased up on adding so much to make it easier to eat without leaving as much of a mess. Bun Cha Hanoi: The bun cha here was amazing. The meat was nicely grilled. I loved the addition of the pickled vegetables. The portion of meat was generous. The proprietress was even kind enough to walk me through how to eat it. You typically dip the noodles and vegetables into the dish meat and broth/sauce before eating it. I would have also ordered the cha gio/spring rolls to go with it. First time here. Based on reviews it appeared this is a great place for Vietnamese good. We came in on a Saturday there was only one other table. We were seated but service started out a little slow. We waited to place orders and food was a little slow to come out. The food tasted good. I had the beef stew with egg noodles teh overall flavor was good with good selection of meat and vegtables. Overall the portion size was a little small compared to many other resturants we have been to. The appetizers were ok. The sauces that came with the rolls were ok. Not great but ok. Cafe Suda, I have had better. The folks there were very friendly. The ambiance was very nice. We loved the flowers and this resturant appears to have a full bar. As soon as you walk in, it feels like you're at an anthropology store because it has so many beautiful plants and decorations. I went there for fun and it was so delicious. The only disappointment was that they only have a beef broth and I don't personally enjoy mixing beef broth with chicken broth and I do enjoy a chicken broth but nothing upset my stomach and everything was so fresh when you order lukewarm or warm, piping hot... Just the way I like it! I even got a chance to try some shrimp spring rolls and that peanut sauce was amazing. Everyone was so attentive and never had an empty glass and they let us stay till closing time which was so sweet because we were having a friend reunion. It was a really dreary start to the summer with its dull gray sky, rainy weather and nasty DMV humidity. So Bep Viet was a great option for dinner this past Summer Solstice. My friend and I were craving pho and wanted to try something new. The service here is a bit slow -- seems like it's run by a mom & pop and there were a good amount of customers. PHO DAC BIET/BEEF SPECIAL NOODLE SOUP - 15.95 This came with a variety of beef: eye round, brisket, tendon and meatball. They actually give you a solid amount of meat here (I know this because every bite of noodle I had contained some meat). The broth here is on the oilier side, but I didn't mind because it was rich and flavorful. The portion size was pretty standard and for this economy, 16.00 for a bowl of pho isn't the worst. They also had this soy bean drink (3.50?) that I got that wasn't too sweet. It's not homemade though (the server told me it came from a can, lol). Overall, my friend and I enjoyed our dinner here. It's one of the better Vietnamese restaurants in this area. With so many options, I'm not sure if I'll come back anytime soon. Our water was constantly refilled. Food came quickly. We started with appetizers #4, #5, and #9. The crispy tofu rolls, #4, were good. Tasty, and although a little greasy, the chicken was very tender and moist. It was served with sweet chili sauce. Six small pieces, so easy to share. The beef in vine were a little weird, #9. The grilled pork rolls were good #5. Would get that again. They were big. We got the waitress's recommendation from the Chef Specialty Menu which turned out to be my friend's favorite. #?The grilled lemon chicken (#33) was his least favorite dish. We also got the lemongrass beef (#36). The caramelized catfish in clay pot (#40A) was my favorite although a bit salty. It was served in a bowl and not a clay pot. I should have taken the cold, rude unwelcoming glare from the bald, old waiter as a sign to leave the restaurant, but I was hungry and looking to try a spot I've never been to before. The stare down said "your kind doesn't belong here." He just pointed where to sit without saying anything. I ordered the spring rolls and a pho soup and was very unimpressed. The food was bland, completely lacking in flavor. Other than the rude waiter. There were 2 females, (one seemingly the owner) present that he was speaking to and not being attentive. This is THE nicest, cleanest, most well-decorated, and dare-I-say "bougie", Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to. Pho was clean tasting, although I'm used to more meat and noodles and a bit more flavorful broth. I was also a little ashamed to slurp my noodles like I normally do since the place was so classy. Pork chop was well cooked and seasoned, though I'm used to there being more rice. Egg rolls, literally two of them cut for a total of 6 small pieces, were good, tho I'm used to the 5/6 full pieces every other place I've been to. We went there in group of 5 for dinner on a Saturday. Restaurant was almost packed with 2 empty tables with Reservation sign. We saw a lady and a young man running around super busy and we can tell that they avoid eye contact with us so we just wait. After 5 minutes, the lady came to say hi and gave us one of the reserved table. We ordered 2 appetizers and 5 different dishes and we understood that they are understaffed so we patiently waited for the food. Food was good but not great, the rice noodle for my Pho was broken to small pieces so it was a negative point even though the broth is good and they gave lots of meats. When the craving for Vietnamese food hits me, I usually head to Falls Church and Eden Center, but decided to check out Bep Viet, and after my visit, this might very well be my new local favorite for Viet cuisine. First off, the décor and ambiance of Bep Viet can best be described as "understated elegance". The interior is tastefully decorated with Asian pottery and vases, wall art, and stunning prints with depictions of colonial Vietnam. The dark furnishings juxtaposed with all of the natural lighting from the large windows creates a very modern, yet comforting vibe. When it comes to Viet cuisine, the two usual standard bearers are pho and banh mi; And with good reason since those two staples are delicious! And while I'm glad pho and banh mi are more common place in the overall lexicon of American dining, there is more to explore when it comes to the diverse foods of Vietnam. While I LOVE pho and banh mi (I have both at least 3-4 times a month), for the past several years, I'm all about the often overlooked Vietnamese beef stew, Bo Kho. I'm always in search of a good beef stew, since seemingly every culture has their own version of a slow cooked, simmering all day pot of beefy goodness. Bep Viet's rendition was fantastic! When the bowl arrived at my table, I could immediately smell the wonderful aromatics. And upon my first sip of the deep reddish rich broth, all of the subtle flavors of star anis, paprika, lemongrass, ginger, and garlic were all harmoniously balanced. What I especially like is that unlike at some spots, the cuts of meat at Bep Viet were not overly fatty with excess gristle, but contained melt in your mouth premium cuts of brisket. While this dish is traditionally served with a baguette, I usually opt to have it with egg noodles; it can also be served with white rice noodles if preferred. But however you choose to have it prepared, this umami bomb of a beef stew is yummy! Some of the other reviews mention that the service can be on the slow side, and I acknowledge this point. Bep Viet is a true "mom and pop" operation. I stopped by around 12:30pm during the lunch hour, and I only observed an older gentleman working the front of the house. I would imagine that this is the owner, and while I wouldn't say that he was necessarily "slow," because there were 4 other tables, I did have to ask to have my water filled and my food arrived in a not unreasonable 10-15 minutes. I dunno...I guess I'm willing to wait a bit longer especially if that means I'm getting a real "home cooked" authentic tasting meal. I'm definitely going to be back to try their pho as well as my other Viet winter time favorite, the Bánh xèo crepe. Prices are about on par with what you'd expect to pay at other Vietnamese restaurants. My meal with just water came out to a bit under $18 with tax and tip. read more

Not sure how this place gets good reviews. Service was slow, no water refills. Nobody waited or was present in the dining area. My pork chop was thin, dry and overcooked. The shredded pork had no pork in it, mostly pork skin. Regular rice was served instead of broken rice, definitely not "com tam." This was not my first time here.
