Our server seemed a bit impatient and abrupt when taking our order (we asked how many spring rolls come in each order, and added beef meatballs to one of our pho orders), but we were mainly there for the food. The space itself is roomy, casual and comfortable, with tables spaced and seated far enough apart to not feel crowded. We started with the pork and taro spring rolls, which came out hot, cut in half, and impressively crispy! (Just as a heads up so you don't get scolded like we did - the pork and taro spring rolls come with two per order, and the price for both is a great deal compared to most pho establishments!) For our mains, we ordered three pho bowls and one dry noodle dish. The pho arrived warm, and adding bean sprouts cooled it down further rather than cooking them through. The dry noodle dish, on the other hand, was excellent in flavor, though also not very hot - likely due to the fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber) mixed in. Overall, a solid, filling meal, even if the service and the temperature of the food could be improved. EDIT 11/30/25 Left absolutely speechless, jaw on floor. Pho sate used to be my 5-star go-to pho spot pre-pandemic. Then pandemic era, all the staff changed sadly, and dropped down to 3-stars but I still went because of memories. But after today's visit, 1-star. We came for dinner, and the restaurant was busy, which was great to see since we hadn't seen the place packed like that in a while. We got seated immediately. But...the table they sat us at was dirty and not wiped down from the previous guests' meal. There were crumbs everywhere. No pho broth should ever be grey. (FYI grey beef broth means the broth is either old from constant reuse/cooking or because the beef/beef bones used are old). The broth was OK, but you could tell there was no richness and deepness of flavor--there was a lot of post seasoning. They have skimped on portions while the prices have increased. For a table for three the amount of bean sprouts given was so minimal. The plate size has changed to make it seem like they've given you a full amount, but the bean sprouts were enough for just 1 person. The portions of the pho have drastically decreased as well. The amount of noodles is half of what it used to be. The pork taro rolls are possibly the only consistent item. Upon paying at the register, the waiter didn't even give me my receipt, and just said the total amount. The pho is a bit too sweet for me but good amount of noodle and meat. Our go to is the dry noodle with soup on the side. We always get extra hot sauces that come with the dish. Recently, I started to order their beef with wide rice noodles. The beef is always tender and usually a good amount of noodles. The pho tai is a classic, but I'm not sure why it didn't feel the same as last. The sate wasn't spicy, but I thought it should at least have a little kick. The meat wasn't as much as before, I feel. As my wife does not eat beef, we always appreciate restaurants that carry a variety of options outside of basic beef and chicken pho. Pho Sate in Falls Church offers a large, appealing menu of more esoteric noodle soups, so we checked out the shop on a recent Saturday. My classic beef pho possessed an aromatic and richly flavored but clean broth. The spice and umami backbone of the broth was ideal, however the portion of the meat itself felt a bit skimpy. Additionally, the normally rare slices of tai arrived to our table fully cooked, which felt like a big miss. My wife enjoyed her hot and sour seafood soup, which had a shellfish broth accented with citrus and chili. The soft and bouncy seafood sausage in that dish had a great flavor and was a highlight of the bowl. Of course, both of our soups benefited from the eponymous spicy and smoky sate, which was among the best renditions of the condiment we have tried in the area. Service and setting are essentially as expected for a neighborhood Vietnamese restaurant, though we did find the staff here friendlier than usual. The total damage for our two bowls was around $30, right on par for the area. Note that this place is cash only. I don't really go to Pho Sate to dine in often but for carry out, we sometimes do. There's lots of ample parking and there's also a Vietnamese Bakery you can check out right next door when you're done eating if you were curious, wanted to buy something to take home with. It's just a place that you go to dine in at and then you leave. I got Cha Gio or Crispy Egg Rolls. They had a nice crunch, consisting of Taro, onions, ground pork. Served with a side of Nuoc Cham or Fish Sauce, it's very tangy and I think you can go no wrong. The egg rolls were fresh although it did take a while to get our appetizer. Our food came right after and I got Banh Pho Ap Chao Sate Thit Bo Xao (Stir Fried Fat Rice Noodles tossed with sliced beef, bean sprouts, onions, and spicy sate sauce ). Honestly I only go here for the dishes that have the Sate sauce because it's really good. Call me crazy but I like to add more for that spice. The noodles were pipping hot, where I had to wait for it to cool down before eating. Absolutely delicious. I think people who enjoy stir fry will enjoy this dish as it's similar to Thai drunken noodles. I can not recommend this highly enough. Pho is not the same anymore. Soup lost that richness and almost tastes like the one from supermarket without depth, and brisket & steak were yellow as if they've been sitting there for quite long and chewy as well. I had to throw away most of the meats because it looked poisonous. For 410, it was very spicy from chili oil which was okay, but romaine inside tasted weird as if it went bad...so not sure how I would feel tomorrow morning. YES - I would not return again. There are so many better pho places that offer real pho at a better price. I didn't really have an issue with services though. Our servers were nice, but I think they really need remodeling. This another pho restaurant I went to in the last month. Pho 75 had a long line, so we tried this one. I must admit that I really don't see a huge difference between pho 75 and this one. You can go to either of them as they are located close to each other. I ordered the traditional broth with all meat option. Extra cartilage on the side with some broth so I can use for another meal. It just costs you a couple of dollars for extra meat option. Highly recommend it as it could be your another meal. The broth was very delicious and all the meat was cooked very well as well. Loved the meatballs. This was my first time trying meatballs in the pho. I love making my pho extra spicy. I add a lot of sriracha and jalapeños to it. It's a no fuss kind of place, with easy parking, very reasonable prices, and lots of seating so you don't have to wait. The only reason for not having a 5/5 is because we've had better meat elsewhere (but the broth is on point!), the interior design is in need of a refresh, and they're always pushing around these loud carts if dishes; but hey, maybe that adds to the charm :) read more
