I finally ordered take out from here when I was sick since hot soup and dumplings sounded good. I love Thai food and I had been wanting to try this place for a while but hadn't made it yet. I ordered the coconut ginger soup and potstickers and did not like either of them. I usually would have ordered miso soup but I thought that something with ginger would be better for my cold. Big mistake. It was not good. And the potstickers tasted weird. I must say that I don't think I ever had a dumpling I didn't like until now. Was it just an off night? I have been to a million pho places. Vietnamese is my favorite food. I'm very picky about the broth that is used and this pho place is by far my favorite place on earth. I recently moved far away and I flew all the way to Boston Logan mainly to eat at this restaurant. I promise if you like light, flavorful broth and the best beef stick money can buy, you will not be disappointed. Service stinks and the food is wack. I literally had to wait for the lady at the front desk to finish sending a paragraph-long text message on her phone before she would even entertain doing her job. Ordered their crispy noodles and later realized they put the sauce IN A PAPER BOX. By the time I got home, box was soaking wet and the sauce had completely leaked thru. My husband and I have been here twice in the last few weeks, once for dinner, and once for lunch. The food is tasty, but it is a bit tame, heat wise. I like to feel a low burn at least when I'm eating something marked with two stars (which promises hot and spicy). When we ate dinner there we had the chicken satay, which was very yummy. I had Beef Macadamia, which I enjoyed, and my husband had Chicken Tamarind, which was ok, but nothing special. The Thai Iced Tea was good, but rang in at four bucks a glass. The ginger ice cream was a nice finish, but we should have split one order, instead of each getting out own. The goblet was well packed. Today we had lunch. We had the Tofu Triangles to start, and I really enjoyed them. Light and crispy fried on the outside, with a fluffy cloud of tofu on the inside. The dipping sauce was sweet and tangy. My husband got the Tofu Pad Thai, and we agree that it's nice, but we don't agree with a previous review declaring it the best in the area. We award that honor to a little place about 20 minutes north. I got Curry Duck Panang, which was good. I would have enjoyed it just as much, though, without the duck. The curry sauce and all of the veggies were just fine by me. Atmosphere is fine, clean and open. The waitstaff is polite, but the tend to run off before you can get the whole sentence out (yes, I wanted a coke, but I'm really ready to order now). I get the feeling that we'll be back there again (it's convenient. Big selling point to my husband). If something changes my outlook drastically, I'll update. read more

My first time at a Vietnamese restaurant and looking for that WOW factor, but I didn't find it. I was with a group of five Romeos (Retired Old Men Eating Out) and we ordered a large bowl of soup to share and several entrees. The Soup was a Seafood Noodle with very thin broth, a clump of white noodles stuck together in the middle and a few pieces of seafood. We had to ask for a ladle to scoop out the broth to individual bowls. However, the noodles kept slipping out of the ladle. We needed to have a claw scoop to serve the noodles. The soup tasted like Campbell's Noodle soup with no seafood flavour. We then had five entrees to share and each served with a bowl of white rice. The entrees had a good amount of seasoned vegetable medley but little amount of meat (pork, beef, chicken and seafood). The salted Shrimp entrée was unshelled and hard to eat without getting a mouth full of nonedible shells. Although the vegetables were well seasoned, I could not distinguish the difference between the five entrees accept for the few pieces of meat. Although the service was very good, reasonable prices and nice ambiance the food was not terrific. The soup was very thin as is all Asian soups. The entrees had a good amount of tasty vegetables but not enough meat. Overall a rating of 7/10. I like to add that the manager was very helpfull in picking out the five entrees to provide some variety. read more

Tried a couple of different Pho places in the area, but this one is still my favorite. I come here at least once a week during my lunch break. Even a large Pho, more than enough for 1, is only like $10. Sometimes the wait can be long if you come during peak lunch hour, but you can still easily be in and out of here in 30 minutes. read more

First time here and will not come back. They charged you $1 extra for around 1 teaspoon for the Chili oil. Most places would serve customers for free. At least the server should have informed the customers if you would charge for those sauces. Our waitress had quite a bad attitude. Two stars for the clean and nice decorations. The food is hit or miss, this place is a wild card. You are never know what you are going to get which is unprofessional and gives me a lot of anxiety which is why I will no longer be going here. The service is okay, it's not the best. I asked my server tonight for a straw for my drink, and he responded with a passive aggressive response, "don't worry, I am giving you the straw right now." Then proceeded to roll his eyes. I usually order the special beef noodle soup special and they give and okay amount for what you pay for considering what other pho restaurants in lowell give for that price or even less. I was grabbing dinner with one of my gals and we decided that we wanted to spilt the check, and the waiter proceeded to tell me that, "sorry, we have $12 minimum to charge on credit cards." I'm sorry, but that will draw back a lot of customers when you force customers to pay a minimum, because not everyone carries cash. He then proceeded to tell me, that it was going to be okay. Excuse me? What really took me back was that they charged me for chili oil for $1.00? I mean chili oil is a condiment, every Asian restaurant in lowell knows that and that's why it's just out. Stopped in here on a weekday for the lunch service. The place was really crowded for that time of day, but the service was still fast and attentive. Of course went with the pho, the #21 which has just rare beef. Most of the places I usually go to have rare beef paired with the flank but they didn't offer that here. The only way to get that combo was if you had tripe which is a no go for me. The pho itself was good, the noodles weren't as translucent as I'm used to and there wasn't much steak. They had repacked siracha at the table, and no dried pepper flake. You can't really go wrong with pho though so it was good. The people I was eating with had pho as well and a chicken noodle soup. One person got the Kung Pao chicken lunch special which came with soup and rice. Looked alright. It's always good to have a pho place in the area and I'd check this out if you enjoy that type of food. I might try Pho 88 down the road before committing though. read more

We went here for the first time last night and it was pretty good. The owner was the only waiter and he was super nice but a little slow on the service (it took around 5/10 minutes for our drinks and at least 25/30 for our appetizer) to come out and we were only 1 of 2 tables in the place. The food was really really good though we split goyza as an appetizer, pad see ew, and a beef dish (not sure the exact name). The food was so fresh and a lot higher quality than other places in the area. It seems like they do a TON of take out and the focus is not as much on the client dining in the restaurant. The ga xao sa ot chicken lemongrass was good... not the best version of the dish....but still tasty. The thit lui beef skewers were good although a stronger marinade flavor would be nice. Definitely not chinese Hot pot but with a vietnamese twist (think cilantro & onions in your broth with an undertone of basil.) Their drinks aren't nearly as good as the chinatown counterpart but it is sufficient considering this is 45 minutes from there. i will definitely go back again. read more

THUMBS UP = The dining area was clean and neat. We went on a Monday night, so there were only a few tables with customers. The staff is friendly and the service was okay. Appetizer (fried salted squid) was "rubbery" and for the price, we were disappointed that there were only eight small pieces. The entrees (chicken noodle soup, and grilled shrimp, sliced pork and crispy spring rolls with vermicelli) were okay. There was one crispy spring roll and it was cold as were the noodles. The pork was good. It was difficult to get the shells off the two shrimp. The soup was good but could have had more chicken. THUMBS DOWN = For customers who are new to different cuisines, it would have been helpful to have more of a description of the dishes and some pictures. Food is generally ok (common items like vermicelli/salad bowls). But I got the pot cooked catfish recently and it was not very good. Some honest feedback I hope they can use to improve. Not a cook so I can only say in comparison to another vietnamese place (Pho Pasteur): - Onion's were not caramelized, I think this is crucial to the texture/taste. - The broth was far too watery and did not glaze the catfish at all (look up pictures online to see difference, my experience at Pho Pasteur was like the pictures). - The catfish texture was not as soft as it could be, and there was a strong smell about it. read more

Super uncoordinated here! I wasn't even greeted, had to wait 20 mins for someone to greet us. I came in for hot pot for me and my family, They set up people that don't want hot pot in a hot pot setting, when people that do want hotpot come, they made us wait 40- 45 mins. I don't understand if people are just getting pho why not put them in a regular seating!! Also I had a baby with me and never have I been asked if I needed a high chair! And when we were served our food no one came to check in with us to see if we needed anything such as refills or etc! Just to let you know i ordered take out, which i definitely hate just cause the food gets soggy and cold but this restaurant had it bagged tight and stapled so the heat stayed in, by the time i got back to eat it was warm but the delicousness of the pho was out of this world. This is one of the best places for vietnamese food in lowell. The decore is equivalent to a high-end restaurant in boston. great place for a date with reasonable prices. We started our meal with fresh spring rolls accompanied w/ peanut sauce. great light app and healthy as well, great alternative to the fried chinese version. for dinner we had chicken noodle soup and beef noodle soup. the beef noodle soup (dac biet) includes many parts of beef and is for a more adventurous eater. If you're a little less adventurous definitely try the chicken noodle soup or beef noodle soup w/ brisket and rare steak only. great comfort food for cold weather! our soups were warm, hearty and flavorful. the whole meal was under 30$ and the service was great. definitely a "gem" in lowell/chelmsford drum hill area, right off exit 32 so very convenient. definitely going to be a regular at this place and my date thought the same as well. can't wait to try the hop pot available as well as all the vietnamese dishes esp vermecelli w/ grill meats (ask for peanut sauce if you're not a fan of peanut sauce). read more

Came for hot pot and it wasn't good at all!!! Small portions and it's pricey. Also their broth was horrible... Tom yum was too sour and the Mongolian spice was sour when it shouldn't be in the first place. We also got a side order of of sirloin rib and it only came with 4 slices.... I frequent all of the Pho Da Lats as long as they have been open - love their food. I went to get takeout lunch today at this location and I ordered a number 30, This is what is listed on the takeout menu: Bún Tht Nng Chà Giò .9.75 I was charged $11.74, plus tax. I am not sure why their prices on their takeout menus don't coincide with their cashing system, but it's disappointing it wasn't listed their menu prices have changed. I didn't have time to question and it was lunchtime so they started to get busy. read more

First of all I would like to say that my food had a strand of hair in it. It was very long and I was in a rush, so I didn't complain. It's something you brush off when you come to a Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant. But, on a high note their food isn't half bad. However their portions are very small. I got a medium pho (17) and the amount I got was more of a small. I always like to spice up my soup with hot oil so I asked the waiter if I could get some because it was not available on the table. To my surprise when I got the check they charged one dollar for the hot oil. This is something that I have never experienced. Usually hot oil when you get take out is $0.25. I am unbelievably appalled at how a restaurant would charge you for a condiment. The service was very slow at 9pm. There was plenty of workers and it took about 20 minutes for my friend and I to get seated and place our order. To get our check, it took another 10 minutes. I have been to many Vietnamese restaurants throughout New England and this was the most disappointing Vietnamese restaurant. Their spring rolls are tasteless beyond belief filled with lettuce, noodles, and shrimp. Did they forget the cilantro, carrots, and basil? My husband who just started learning how to cook makes better Vietnamese spring rolls. More upsetting was my soup. I ordered seafood soup and asked the server to delete the noodles and to add vegetables. What I ended up getting to my dismay was a bland, tasteless vegetable soup with four small pieces of seafood:1 small shrimp, 1 piece of calamari, 1piece of "faux" crab, and 1 piece of fishball. It was the worst tasteless soup I have ever tasted. To add insult to injury, I can't believe they charge $9.00 for this! read more
