This is our go-to close to home pho place. It is a little inconsistent though. Sometimes like a recent Sunday the broth was very good and flavorful, but other times it is just ok. We often get a pho and a bun bo hue. Overall the noodles and protein portions are good and generally seem good quality. They have a fairly healthy carryout business. The broth was so delicious you can tell that there was definitely fatty pieces in the broth for long periods of time. I got a brisket pho with well done and fatty pieces. My husband got the house special which also included some brisket, tendons, and other things. The tendon was soooo goood! Not at all hard to chew. Spring rolls, flank steak pho, grilled chicken and rice. The pho soup was delicious and flavorful. The spring rolls were a little burnt and the filling was a bit mushy. When i asked the staff they mentioned that the filling consisted of pork shrimp vegetables and gabi (taro). Disappointingly it was filled with a trace of pork and chicken with more gabi than anything else. The grilled chicken was ok. If you want lemongrass chicken this is not it. I would like to say I'm a bit of a pho connoisseur so I thought it'd be nice to review this place because it was their grand opening (at the time of this review). Their grand opening special was a large bowl of pho at $6.95 (regular price is $9.45). I ordered the Goi Ngo Sen Tom (Lotus Roots Salad with Shrimp) as an appetizer, which is always a must when a Vietnamese restaurant offers it on the menu. The salad was drenched in too much nuoc mam (fish sauce), which caused the lotus roots to be soggy and not crunchy. Usually restaurants would give you nuoc mam on the side and you can pour it in. However, the portion was very large for it's price of $12.95. The pho I ordered was the number 18 (the Dac Biet did not qualify for the special because of the meatballs. The main 2 things I rate is the broth taste (and I don't use any hoisin sauce or sriracha), and meat to noodle ratio. The meat to noodle ratio was great. They actually had a lot of noodle which made me full and had the right amount of meat (not too much where you get sick of it and throw them away). The broth however was the factor. The broth has minimal taste to it. There was a slight taste to it but not enough to give it a good rating. However, when sipping the broth, it has a "clean" taste to it - as if if doesn't taste too salty and it doesn't make you feel bad that you are it. Overall, I would eat this place again if I was in the area. read more

I'm always looking for a good Vietnamese restaurant with Banh Xeo so I was excited to try this place out. Unfortunately the Banh Xeo wasn't very good, it was really thick and greasy. Because it was so thick and heavy, I think they had too cook it longer than normal and the bottom was a bit burned. This was a take out order so it is possible it is much better when you dine in so I might have to try that next time. On a positive note, I also ordered the spring rolls which were actually very good and nice and large. I'll probably give it another try and also get a soup next time. read more

This place is outstanding. I came here recently for dinner. I got some roasted quail, some beef pho soup, and some tea. I had never had quail before, so I had to try it (chim cut quay, item 4 on the menu). The whole quail were small. As I recall there were four of them in the dish. They taste only somewhat like chicken, but also have a fattier taste similar to duck. The sauce had the consistency of barbecue sauce but the flavor was different. All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The servings were very generous. I took the rest home and finished it for dinner the next day. The service was quick and friendly. The decor was a modernist Vietnamese/pan-Asian theme. Keep up the excellent work. This place is a great introduction if you have never had Vietnamese food before. read more

This is my family and I's go to spot for viet cuisine. The food is consistently good and the service is always on point. The staff is very down to earth and homey. I am plant-based so I can only speak on their veggie stuff. They have a vegetarian option in almost every category (pho, banh xeo, etc.) I would say their pho chay is probably my favorite one in Northern Virginia. It's flavorful and isn't straight up broccoli water like others I've tried. Food: it was good pho, the soup based was clean and clear. I went to so many pho places, most of the time they give me dark broth not like this place. The broth might not be the best broth I have tasted so fat but it good enough for me to recommend to other people. They do give good amount of noodle. I come here solely for their Thai tea. Best I've found in the area. There was one exception though that it tasted watered down and carbonated, not like the usual Thai tea flavor at all. All the other times though, it's been great. 4/5 stars because the boba is quite bad. They're not smooth or chewy and fall apart in your mouth. I'd rather drink without the bubbles. Went on opening week while they were running a killer discounted bowl of pho deal. Ordered the number 18 with rare flank, tripe, and a couple other meats. It wasn't their signature 18a with meatballs etc., since they didn't offer that as part of the discounted opening week. Overall the broth is flavorful although slightly not as full bodied as the best of the best. The noodles had a slightly weird plasticky/rice paper taste that was just a tiny bit off maybe caused by the starch? Not sure. Portions are fantastic and the large bowl is quite filling but there wasn't too many cuts of beef. Would have appreciated a little bit more. For the discounted price we paid on opening week, it can be overlooked. A couple problems found which could be chalked up to initial opening include no system for waitlisting. Whether that would be a paper waitlist near the entrance or a digital waitlist system through yelp, etc. Everyone was bunched up at the door vying for attention hoping for the best that it would be first come first serve. The little entrance area quickly became overcrowded and hard to get in or out of the restaurant. The other issue was the lack of appropriately sized tables. Many tables seated 4 people but couldn't be used effectively for parties of 2. We ended sharing tables but the lack of condiments and utensils effectively distributed for the table made it difficult to eat. read more

The pho broth here is clear and flavorful. The meats were surprisingly tender. I love that they even had a Kid-sized bowl of pho with either brisket or meatballs. We also had an order of Bun Mam (delightfully smelly in fragrance). The staff here is very friendly. Parking is plentiful. We also got summer rolls. Pho noodles and meat portions were very nice for large. Small seemed generous too. I will have to test to see if they are the same, like some pho houses tend to do... I recommend adding a spoon or two into your pho for a very pleasent kick! Ambience - Came during lunch rush. But luckily we were seated quickly. As others mentioned, the table setup favors a "first come first served" style. But tend to sit groups of two into a table ment for 4. So if a group of 4 comes, they would have to wait.
