I don't like many pho places in the area, but I will always come back here. The broth is very good. I enjoy the lemongrass chicken rice plate, too. No complaints when coming here. Employees are very nice; we talked about the Lunar New Year on our last visit and she was super friendly and kind.

Pho, spring roll, Thai tea
Michael S.

I went here on lunch one day and the service was amazing. They just opened for the day, so the waitress was very attentive and nice. I got the meat lovers pho combo with a crispy spring roll and I got Thai tea to drink. The pho was alright but did not have as much flavor as other pho places I've been too. But the amount of noodles and meat was perfect. I just had to add some fish sauce to the broth to make it have a little stronger flavor. The crispy spring roll was amazing, it was so crispy and the inside had a lot of filling which was nice. The Thai tea was probably my favorite item. It tasted like actual Thai tea and not the artificial or instant type. AMAZING! The ambiance was very relaxing and chill. It felt very minimalistic but also calming. Very nice place for a quiet lunch.

This place serves the best pho i've had in a while. Their tea and fruit smoothies are really tasty as well. Its nice and clean and spacious with good vibes. The service was quick and staff were very friendly. Definitely recommend!

Yummmmmm!!!!

I had the pho, which was ok. My husband ordered the pork bahn mi. Ummmm.... I will be getting THAT when I come back! On a cold day, the pho was ok, but I have a higher bar set than most. With that said, I have nothing negative to say about that sandwich! Perfectly cooked and seasoned with a lightly toasted crunch to the warm bread.... I sat there nodding my head in approval the whole time. Whatever came on the side with his order was forgotten once this sandwich came out. We will definitely return when we're in the area again.

Pork Chop

The customer service was quick and friendly. The food was okay. The crispy spring rolls were a little burnt and greasy. The pork chop was a little tough. The Pho was a little smaller portion than most places. The Thai tea wasn't bad. Question of cleanliness is what concerns me as while my coworker was eating his chicken fried rice he found hair in it (see picture attached) I think that alone takes away a persons appetite all together. We quietly told the waiter and he took it back and removed it from the bill with no problem. Then as I was going through the photos from previous reviews we saw that one of the pictures someone found a small snail in their food. I know these things happen but I don't like finding surprises in my food so I wouldn't give this place another shot unfortunately.

However, the young male staff is rather rude and indifferent. First, off there is a Wi-Fi available "Caphe Guest" (see photo). I asked one staffer what the password was, because Caphe is in one of those sections of Old Town where wireless access, like Verizon, is notoriously poor. The guy gave me some garbled answer and walked away. Alrighty, so I asked another staffer and he said he didn't know what the password was and walked away. That leads up to my order of chicken pho. I asked for no cilantro and that same waiter repeated my request for no cilantro. But when the pho was brought to my table, the green in the pho looked suspiciously like cilantro. I asked the waiter about it. He looked at the pho and said it was not cilantro. I took a sip and quickly determined there was cilantro in the pho. When I tried to get my server's attention, as he was standing in back of the counter, he saw me and haughtily turned away. So, I took the pho up to counter and asked that my order be remade. To Caphe's credit, Caphe did correctly remake my order.. But the pho broth was brown and had an odd canned flavor. It just wasn't very good.

Both were excellent. My vermicelli bowl was the standout--perfectly seasoned grilled pork with just the right amount of spice, fresh vegetables and herbs, crispy spring rolls, and the perfect balance of noodles and toppings. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The pho was just as good, with a rich, comforting broth and tender beef that really hit the spot. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and simple--nothing fancy, just a welcoming place that lets the food shine. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We'll definitely be back. If you're craving fresh, flavorful Vietnamese food in Old Town Alexandria, Saigon Roll is absolutely worth a stop.

I had to take off 1 star because although the pho was delicious with flavor and good proportion of meat to noodles, the Vietnamese iced coffee was too sweet and the rolls I ordered to go were just okay to me in regards to taste and flavor. Overall, if you're craving pho, this is your spot but for the other items, I wasn't blown away. The restaurant was clean with a lot of seating. There's a lot of street parking available.

The flavor is amazing and so hearty yet refreshing. Also I am 99% sure my food came within minutes of ordering because I did not even get the chance to open my book. The way I rate pho, are two things, one, the noodles, and two, the broth's flavor. Noodles: Because nothing hurts more than a yummy broth with some overcooked noodles that breaks when you try to eat them. Pho Saigon Pearl is doing it right, their noodles are perfectly cooked, you can pick them up and they're not clumpy, they don't fall apart (literally God Bless) Broth: bone broth is soooo good for your overall health and every time when I am feeling slightly under the weather, I look for a good ole pho place for some yummy broth. No one wants flavorless and greasy broth, and it's awkward to ask for salt, but LET ME TELL YOU GIRLLLLLL THE BROTH (fantastic give me 14 of em) it is sooooo perfectly seasoned, it is perfectly salty and gives you that beautiful completed flavor of meat and veggies. The ambiance is nice, lots of lighting, clean interior and spacious set up. Overall: 10/10 would recommend. They walked us to our table and was so accommodating. On an extremely hot day like today (103F) it was refreshing to walk into a nice cool and nicely lit and decorated place. It was very relaxing. The parking was off the street and is free for 2 hours. There were plenty of spots available just at the front of the restaurant. We ordered the Whole Fried Flounder and the Massaman Curry with shrimp and for dessert the Magnolia Creme Crepe. I am partial to good Crepe dessert... and this place offered different selection. A plus! The food was freshly prepared and was very tasty. I would recommend trying this place out. You will not be disappointed.

4 stars for the food 4 stars for the ambiance…read more3 stars for the service on the water refills, which was sporadic at best. Last night I brought a couple of friends over to the Sisters Thai in Alexandria ... because I had had good experiences in the past. We were seated at our table of four, and had to wait 20 mins to be served water from the start. That was unusual - and although the restaurant was busy it was not packed, so the delay was odd. We ordered the food which was great - high recommendations for the branzino, the crispy eggplant, the roti curry and the mango & sticky rice. The water service was challenging; at one point during the meal when a server came to do a refill, she spilled the water on the table near the food dishes - apologized - but didn't clean up! (It was not a few drops - it was a sizeable amount that warranted wiping up since our group had to reach over for the food dishes in the center). She took off after right after spilling it - and didn't come back! So I eventually caught the eye of another sever and asked for the water to be wiped down. The evening went on - the meal really noteworthy ... but water was clearly becoming more and more of an issue - and this was critical especially considering that the roti curry was spicy! After yet another 20 minutes of trying to catch the eye of anyone with a pitcher I had to get up and request water from the bar area. So although the evening was pleasant it was somewhat disruptive with this lack of coordination - which is really is a basic of any establishment. I would go back again for the food - although I'm disappointed that I brought friends along to try the restaurant and the service was not as expected. As I write this I want to add that if it was a one-off with a water delay I would understand - but it was consistently overlooked, without a spillage being wiped promptly that started to create a less than satisfactory experience. Thank you in advance to the Sisters Thai for more training for their staff on enhancing the customer experience.

The menu is straight-forward with the usual and expected dishes. One dish I did not expect to see, but did, were hush puppies! Everything we ordered for takeout was excellent. Portions are generous and inexpensive. Note: there are two tables in the restaurant if you prefer to dine in. We ordered egg drop soup, crispy pork wontons, Mongolian Chicken and Mongolian Beef. The egg drop soup was better than your typical egg drop soup, with a flavorful broth and silky but still hearty texture. The wontons were packed with pork and came with a tasty bright red dipping sauce that complimented the wontons nicely. The Mongolian Beef and Mongolian Chicken are the same dish, with the only difference being the meat. These dishes were very well prepared with just the right amount of onion, scallion and sauce. The beef had a delicious slightly smoky flavor and was cut into nicely shaped pieces. The Mongolian dishes automatically come with white rice. Speaking of the rice, it had a great texture and just the right amount of moisture. Take out orders may take up to a half hour for them to be prepared, but it is well worth the wait. We will be back.

Always appreciate the minimalist yet still eloquently-decorated aesthetic of the restaurants, complete with a window to view the kitchen, which itself seemed relatively clean and well-kempt. The ramen was solid in most respects, with a decent variety of vegetables and multiple proteins, including tofu, shiitakes, soybeans and marinated egg (which I enjoyed despite typically not liking hard-boiled egg too much). The noodles were a little bland, however, and didn't taste like they absorbed much of the broth. Before we even walked into the restaurant, we were informed that the left entrance door had been broken for quite some time. Since we had a double baby stroller with us, getting inside was a bit of a challenge and not exactly the best first impression. Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 3/5 Service - 3/5 Food - 3/5 Parking - Street Parking Atmosphere - The restaurant feels a bit old and dated and could probably use some updating. Interestingly, while the dining room definitely shows its age, the ordering system is modern and up to date. The contrast between the two was pretty noticeable. Service - Service was just okay. This is more of a casual setup where customers place their orders at the counter and the staff bring the food out when it's ready. There wasn't really anything memorable, either good or bad, about the service experience. What We Ordered - -Spring Rolls (Good) -Pho Dac Biet (Special Beef Pho) - The flavor was good overall, but the broth was only lukewarm when it arrived. A bowl of pho really needs to be piping hot, so this took away from the experience. -Grilled Pork Rice Plate - The pork was a bit too salty for my taste and was just okay overall. Final Thoughts - This was an average dining experience. The food was decent, the service was adequate, and the atmosphere was nothing particularly special. Nothing stood out enough to make me want to go out of my way to return, but I also wouldn't discourage others from trying it if they're already in the area.
