Before going in with my little sister, I read the reviews and I decided to keep an open mind because I knew they just opened up a month and so they're still working out problems. I honestly enjoyed my experience here. My sister and I were immediately greeted and told to pick a spot to sit and they'll be right there. We both ordered pho, P1 to be exact. The broth was perfect. The meatballs, meat, and flank were tender, juicy and cooked to perfection. We were checked on a couple of times and when we asked to place a to go order and for extra things, we were attended to in a quickly matter. I really enjoy the atmosphere too. The inside was clean and I like how they did the interior of the restaurant. I'm originally from Chicago and my sister from the New England area, and this is one of the nicer pho restaurants we've been in. Overall. 4 stars. I did come back in later and made a to go order and they gave me egg rolls instead of the fresh spring rolls. I probably should have checked my bag before I left so that was on me. Anyway. So disappointed! Quality and service have taken a nosedive! Charged full $50 with no sympathy or attempt for resolution, and went home hungry! The chicken on the banh mi was dry, rubbery and smelled positively rotten, the sandwich was also missing the egg we ordered. The pork on the vermicelli noodle bowl was dry and flavorless as if rather than being grilled fresh (like it used to taste), it tasted more like it had been cooked rather hastily, then left out under a heat lamp a long time. All of the meat served was surprisingly disappointing. The iced tea was extremely weak. The ice water served had no business being on any table. It tasted as bad as the bathroom smelled. And no, the slice of lemon did not even come close to saving it. It was disgracefully undrinkable. And their snarky response saying, "We don't make the water," is not an inappropriate response to a concerned, formerly repeat customer. Then, to be told perhaps COVID is why things taste poorly to me... EXCUSE ME WHAT? The unmasked man told me that he has had COVID-19 and that he lost his sense of taste and smell... well that certainly can explain why YOU are unable to recognize foul things, but I assure you, some of us still can. WHY HAVE I BEEN SLEEPING ON THIS PLACE? Granted, this review is based off of my first visit, I had the fresh rolls with pork and shrimp and a pork bahn mi (both pretty tasty), but this is a pretty cool place, definitely in my regular rotation. The bahn mi was good and flavorful, service good, ambiance good. For Fort Walton, this will more than do. We came here 3 different times since we moved here last year. All 3 times were horrible experiences. Both food and service are terrible. I always order the chicken pho. The chicken always taste dry and flavorless as if they prepared chicken meat beforehand and store on the heater and just toss in the bowl with the broth when it is ordered. It DOES NOT taste like the chicken actually simmered in the broth for hours like how it should be cooked. To make it worse, theres days when theres no bean sprouts, which is understandable due to the area and its lack of access to it. But when they do have beans spouts, they are not fresh and are not even crunchy. The only thing that is good is their vietnamese egg rolls, which they dont give romaine lettuce with it. The bun bo hue lacked flavor in the broth, which is disappointing due to the fact that it's the best part. Their service was terrible. Our waitress didn't seem professional, she forgot part of our order, didn't keep track of what was already brought to us and what wasn't and did not come to ask how we were doing or say bye/thank you when we left. The tendon in their pho tasted like the scent of a shoe store and the texture was concerning. They forgot the peanuts and mint, which were listed as part of the dish. When the waitress brought the 'peanuts they were like a powder. Iceberg lettuce instead of romaine. Little flavor in anything except the overpowering sweetness of the dry, chewy meat. Overall a very disappointing and far from authentic Vietnamese meal. Overpriced as well. Service was adequate and the table and benches were quite sticky. When I asked the manager if the noodles were supposed to be very cold, I got only a blank stare and a shrug. My husband loves pho and no matter where we are or how hot it is outside, he's gotta have his Pho. I'm not a pho fan but he says it's pretty good. I do like the Thai tea so I ordered that, but I didn't like it that much and the bobas were very rubbery and mostly stuck together. I went to Pho Eva with my girlfriends for dinner one evening and got the pho with mixed vegetables. It was mediocre. It's hard to give an honest review on the food because halfway through dinner we looked over and saw a rat run across the floor. Not a mouse, a rat. I stopped one of the guys walking by, who appeared to be the owner, and told him. I was trying to be discreet so as not to disrupt the dinners of everyone else around us. The man grinned and holding his hands up said, "Ooh, scary!" Then he walked away. I was totally shocked. At this point nobody at our table could finish our food. I was thinking that maybe the man didn't understand my English, so I went up to the front and spoke with the waitress. She told me she would keep an eye out for the rat. It seemed like they didn't really know how to handle a rodent siting. There was no offer of a discount on our meals or free meals even, even though our dinner was ruined. It was quite disgusting. Bad service, seemed a little dirty for a place that just opened. The tables were covered in dirty dishes. It took a few minutes for us to be greeted once we walked in, and after we were seated, no one took our drink order. Someone just came by and put two waters on our table. I also found it odd that they only give you ONE SLICE of jalapeño on the plate with all the pho toppings. I've always been given at least a few slices of jalapeño at other places. It's pretty obvious that they are trying to cut corners. They also couldn't get their staff together and kept bringing us the wrong food. It was ridiculous. We were brought the wrong food THREE times. They actually never brought us exactly what we ordered. So we just ended up leaving. It was clear things just weren't going to end well for us. I couldn't believe how incredibly unorganized they were. Such an awful first impression. Word of mouth is a big deal in this area and so far, I haven't heard anything good from anyone who has eaten here. We will never come back, and definitely won't be recommending it to anyone. Service was just ridiculously bad. My husband and I came in and were seated by who I am going to guess is the manager. We sat down and ordered a B6 and a B7. Then a family of 15 came in and ordered. We watched as they one by one got their food. And then another party of two came in, ordered, and got their food. After about 45 minutes and meeting the waiters eyes a few times, (he did not once come to check on us, or apologize), We got our food. And a quiet "Sorry." We have never had Vietnamese, so I'm not how its supposed to be. My husband's beef stew was just chunks of beef fat and noodles. Mine was okay, but there was chunks of what looked like tofu and tasted like sausage. Food aside, we weren't checked on whilst eating either. I finished my food (My husband couldn't eat his after the first bite.) We got up to pay, very reluctantly. We sat in line with one person in front of us. And watched as she was ignored for 10 minutes as the server in front of us was teaching a younger server how to make a sandwich. No "One minute." or "Sorry." When it got to be our turn to pay, She says "I can't take the card. I don't know how." She points to a little scrap of cardboard with a bunch of letters and numbers scribbled on it and says "Thats the password." and passes over the card reader for us to put it in! They couldn't get that to work, they wrote our phone number down and told us to come back and pay later. Or we could have written our card number down and they charge us when they can. Uh, no.
