Definitely a hole in the wall and a little out of site but easily the best Pho in Kansas City. My favorite is the Rice Noodle Soup with Sirloin Steak and the egg rolls are excellent. Wow! What a difference two years can make! My last review was posted mid 2013. Today's take out lunch was enough of a 360 turn that I felt it so necessary to update my review and stars. I was headed home and waiting at a stoplight and it came to me, "I want some soup!" I look up - and I got Pho Good all in my face!! I stop in and I'm out in less than five minutes. I'm not sure what's happened here, but the broth here today... FIVE STAR BROTH! So why not five stars? Two words - "krab", and stems. Overall my pho today was very delicious. The broth was rich and flavorful. This was the broth that comes to mind when I think pho. The chili sauce, lime and fresh cilantro where the perfect accompaniment. I wish the cilantro where leaves or tops only. The stems can be tough. I'll be back for lunch again soon. read more

Found my go-to Pho place!! The price is right and it was solid Pho. I was getting over a horrible cold and wanted something to help, so we stopped in. The server was nice and it didn't take long to get our food. I had the seafood Pho and it was my first time having a fish ball--interesting, but good. The imitation crab isn't really a good choice for the soup. I'd be willing to pay more for real crab. Or they should omit the crab all together. read more

Pho Good used to be off of Shawnee Mission Parkway but they've since moved to a much larger location in Shawnee. $9.81 for a combo pho and the bowl size was pretty standard. Pho Good is not exactly as the name implies: it's not good pho, certainly not GREAT pho, but it's decent pho that is passable most nights. We came here on a bitterly-cold winter night in dire need of a hot bowl of soup. We're frequenters of iPho Tower up in the Westport area but decided we needed to branch out of our pho comfort zone. As we walked in, we noticed a decent mix of races here which is generally a good sign for ethnic restaurants. Rest assured, the authenticity of Pho Good is not in doubt. The food, however, was not up to par. SPRING ROLLS: We ordered spring rolls as an appetizer and they were solid. I could tell they were probably made much earlier in the day, since the skin of the roll is much harder and more chewy than fresh spring rolls. Most Vietnamese places pre-make their spring rolls and keep them covered in the fridge, which is what I'm suspecting Pho Good did--but they probably weren't replaced as the day went on due to slow business (would be my guess). I'm a sucker for spring rolls so I thought they were still decent, but the lack of freshness certainly took it down a notch. PHO: We both ordered pho (cause I mean, you gotta go with the dish that's in the restaurant title...RIGHT?!)--her the steak pho and me the combination pho- and both were solid but nothing mind-blowing. Surprisingly, the broth came out warm rather than hot, much to our displeasure. The temperature reminded me of under-microwaving a bowl of canned soup rather than not heating up fresh soup on the stove long enough--NOT a good look. Soup temperature aside, the meat was good and the broth was tasty, but neither were anything to hit home about. iPho Tower gives you twice the amount of meat with a less MSG-infused broth at a soup temperature much more conducive to good-tasting soup. TL;DR: I'm being harsh here and could probably dine at Pho Good multiple times a week if I needed to, but it isn't on my priority list when I'm craving some tasty pho on a cold winter night. As always, I'll revisit this place at some point and update my review accordingly if my experience changes. read more

My bowl of vermicelli, steak, pork and shrimp was delicious! The waitress instructed me to pour the side dressing all over the dish, which I did. Food was exceptional as always. However, our waitress did not wear a mask. Even when we asked/inquired about it she said "I know we are supposed to, but I took mine off." I think the most amazing part of it all was the sauce that came with the spring rolls. Divine. I took my food with me. Carry out was my only option yesterday, due to work demands. Great food! Seems to be very authentic, I wouldn't honestly know. My wife and I split the rice noodles with steak along with the chicken curry.. the curry had some wonderful spice and the Pho was hot and flavorful with plenty of noodles to compliment the half gallon of broth. you certainly get your money worth here! So I tried to figure out how I managed to be the Duchess of this place on Yelp without posting a review and the only thing I can come up with is that I seriously have fallen behind on getting places reviewed. My Bad! Anyway lets get to the review!! So I ended up coming here about a year or so (I think??? Sorry it's been a while!) ago when I wanted pho and there weren't a lot of options near by. I always order their combination pho every time my boyfriend and I come...which in the last month has been...well, a lot. They've gotten to know us (and our orders) pretty well. But I digress, back to the review...everything comes out relatively quickly - even when busy. The veggies that come out are always fresh and look fantastic. I really wanted to like Pho Good, but the food was bland and not nearly as good as Vietnam's Cafe. I had spring rolls and a soup dish with meat and pork blood in it. I was disappointed that the spring rolls weren't as large as the ones I've eaten nearly everywhere else (including Vietnamese restaurants in other cities). They also weren't rolled especially tight (but not as bad as the ones at iPho Tower). I liked the premise of the soup. It had a couple of different kinds of meat and sliced pork blood. The broth just wasn't very flavorful. The service was excellent. The young woman who waited on me was very helpful. If not for her, Pho Good would have rated just two stars. read more

Nothing like a big ol' bowl of pho on a cold blustery day. I thought it was decent, but it didn't pack the flavor I was expecting, and I've had my share of pho. The noodles were cooked well, but it could have had a bit more of meat to it. Maybe it was just the batch I got, because it seems other Yelpers were impressed with the broth. The vermicelli with pork and egg roll was really good, as well as the spring rolls. There isn't much of a friendly personable vibe to the place. We were escorted to our table with nary a word said to us after a brief wait. Our server was fine, but didn't seem thrilled to be there. Everybody has those days though. All said and done, I'll be back. It is the closest pho place to me. I just hope there's a bit more of a flavor punch to the broth the next time, and a few more smiles (at least one) about the place. read more

This place is unassuming on the outside, but once you're inside the atmosphere takes you to a magical place overflowing with pho! Husband and I both ordered the beef pho and it was fantastic. Broth was super flavorful and nice and hot! This is the perfect comfort food! We also ordered a side of egg rolls and those didn't taste very good- they tasted like the frozen egg rolls you get from your local grocery store. We don't recommend them. However, the pho was so good that it totally made up for the egg rolls, and thus, winning a 5 star review. read more

Stopped in here yesterday. Service is really quick and attentive. I had the pho do bien (rice noodles with shrimp, crab and fish balls) and we had shrimp spring rolls. I like that they bring a plate with bean sprouts, jalapeños, cilantro and I think basil and a lime wedge-you can add as much or as little as you want. It was served in a giant bowl and was steaming hot and delicious. The clientele was a mix of families, couples and guys who looked like they just stopped in for lunch while on a job. There aren't a lot of places to eat pho in JoCo, so I'm happy to say Pho Good is quality food at a fair price. It's not the best pho I've ever had, it's not very exciting. But I like to voyage off and try other things on the menu. My favorite lately has been the vermicelli with pork and egg roll. Everything tastes fresh and satisfying. The meat and the egg roll have good texture, they're not soggy. The veggies have a lot of color and flavor. Food tastes like it only came out of the kitchen mere seconds ago and service is quick. Perhaps my first visit to Pho Good was simple but I was impressed. I didn't order a large meal but I'm a regular to Vietnam Cafe near the City Market, which is my favorite, so they set the curve in regards to my review here. I had Pho Tai with my beef on the side and spring rolls. The spring rolls and peanut sauce was great...very tasty. The pho was also very good and the only adjustment I had to make in comparison to my usual experience was adding some fish sauce. I didn't mind doing this and would rather have needed to add some than there being too much when it was served to me. The meat was tender, the veggies fresh and a good portion of noodles. The service was prompt and courteous. I'm not a stickler on decor since some of the worst looking dives serve the best food so that was not on my mind, however I will say the restaurant was clean, well lit with all the appropriate condiments and accessories on the tables. My friend also order a combination Banh Mi sandwich to go and told me the bread was fresh and just right and overall had great flavor. I enjoy supporting local businesses and I will definitely return. If they continue to provide the quality of service and food then I may update my review to 5 stars! read more

After looking at the Yelp reviews, a co-worker and I decided to give this place a try. I was excited about the prospect of finding a decent Banh Mi in Johnson County, but it turns out it's not just an "off the menu item" as detailed in another review--according to the waitress, it doesn't exist at all. I was a little disappointed that they did not carry honeydew flavored boba tea, but even more-so that they were out flavors they did carry. For an appetizer, I ordered the spring rolls (#2) with peanut dipping sauce. The rice noodles contained within were a bit thicker than you would normally find, but overall they were above average, as was the peanut sauce. Next came the #8, a giant bowl of pho, with a side of basil, cilantro, jalapenos, bean sprouts, and a lime wedge. The broth was tasty with just a hint of spice, the vegetables were fresh, and the meat was thinly sliced and relatively tender. There's better Pho to be had in KC, I'm almost certain. I've tried most if not all of the pho places in the KC metro and Pho Good is definitely alright. I'm a huge fan of their broth (I don't like the sweetness of Vietnam Cafe's broth) however I wish the meat portions were a bit larger for a large bowl of Pho Tai Gan. The egg rolls were pretty good, too. Lots of meat and a good crunch. All in all, I'll be hitting this place up frequently, mostly because it's the closest one to my house that has a good broth. read more

My first time eating here last Sunday. At first I was reluctant after reading two of the reviews regarding a foul smell. Well...thank God I went in spite of the reviews & took the recommendation of a friend who has eaten there. I ordered Pho soup #8 tasted the same as the Vietnamese Cafe although they could add more fresh veggies & herbs with it. We also ordered fried sweet potatoes with shrimp, it tasted better than what I had before at VC. The fried egg rolls was disappointing, it lacked the crunch of what an egg roll should be probably because it was cooked way ahead instead of cooking it right there & then. Overall the food & atmosphere is good. Geographically, I love the fact I don't need to drive all the way to downtown to have a Vietnamese food. One thing I do want to point out though, there was no foul smell inside the restaurant while we were there. The only smell however, was the aroma of the food being prepared in the kitchen & brought out of the kitchen. This place is now one of my favorite Asian restaurant in KC. . read more
