Hubby is sick with the flu so naturally a visit to go eat pho was going to happen. Since our favorite place to eat pho (Lotus) is currently closed, we decided to try somewhere new. Location: This place is located right behind the burger king and taco bell on pleasant hill. Parking: is plentiful. Inside: Because it is a corner space, the inside is large and spacious. It is very simple with ikea furniture and decor. I like the TV's though since the winter olympics are going on. Food: Pretty standard menu with some different and some same offerings as its competitors in the area. But I think they seem to mainly cater to southern vs northern. The prices are very reasonable as well. Ricky was sick so he got P1 (Pho Dac Biet) and I got B2 (Bun Bo Hue). I think both were great. Noise Level: We went on a weekday night so it was pretty quiet. From a vegetarian standpoint, this place was great. We found this place on a whim traveling back from the Sugarloaf Mills Mall late in the evening (after 10). This was one of the few places that were open late (until midnight). Plus, using Yelp, we saw that there were a few vegetarian options available, so we decided to stop by to see what disappointment awaited us (seeing that we're often left feeling letdown as vegetarians at most restaurants). Fortunately...we were anything but disappointed. This place is newly opened (only about 3 months) and the decor inside is clean, spacious, and has subtle decorative nods to that of a French cafe. Our host/waitress was really nice, explained the dishes to us, and allayed any concerns we might have of how vegetarian the food really was (an issue we occasionally run into at Asian restaurants) The wifey ordered the Vegetarian Pho while I ordered the stir-fried Vegetarian Egg Noodle. While my Noodle dish was decent enough (it was a little bland and needed the touch of chili paste, sriracha, and Hoisin sauce that I put in it), my wife's Vegetarian Pho was absolutely delicious...and the most flavorful vegetarian pho I've ever had. I couldn't believe how much flavor they were able to infuse into the broth. For $9...the Pho was definitely worth returning for. We also ordered the fresh vegetarian spring rolls. They were great, especially with the peanut dipping sauce that was served with it. As far as pho places go, I'm not sure how well this compares to the multitude of Vietnamese establishments scattered along Pleasant Hill and Buford Highway...but I can say this: As far as vegetarian pho goes, you cannot find a better place for it than Pho House. A lot of people don't like this place for some reason? And I feel like it's mostly about portion sizes and little things. The pho broth is good and you can't really mess up pho. But the bun bo hue broth is really good!! It's not too oily and it tastes balanced, but the problem is that their bun bo hue doesn't have all the basic things that it should have but I think the broth makes up for it. The com chien bo luc lac is amazing. The portion size is good and it tastes amazing time I get it. It's never bland. I think I could ever say food is bland here, but maybe they should add more ingredients to the bun bo hue. read more

After being away for a few months, I came back here because I was craving for some yummy bun bo hue and bun thit nuong. Unfortunately, I left last night super disappointed. I came in when a party of 4 on a Friday night. They weren't the busiest and we got seated quite quickly. Service was decent but my only complaint was, why would you bring out the bun thit nuong dish first without the sauce that goes with it? After waiting for 5 minutes, we asked for the sauce and they gave us the wrong one! We got pure fish sauce. Tsk tsk tsk. Here is a lesson for you Pho House Staff, NEVER bring out an unfinished or partial dish to your customers. Sometimes, the sauce makes the dish, and it is so true for bun thit nuong since it's basically a substitute for a broth and the sauce main purpose is to enhance and complement the flavors of the grilled pork. I also got bun bo hue and the flavors were lacking--it wasn't spicy enough. It was bland. Once I put in the veggies, it almost tasted like water. The beef was soft and juicy, so I give them that. I also got a Thai tea. We asked for little sugar, but it was still super sweet. Don't get me wrong, I want this place to boom, and I want to come back. This is a Pho shop located in a strip mall in Duluth. There is plenty of free parking. The restaurant is big so we didn't have to wait. The atmosphere is fun and inviting. They have TV's and the music was pumping through the sound system. Everything was fresh and tasty. The pho broth was rich and tasty (a little saltier) than I'm used too but definitely rich. I got the shrimp pho. I asked if they had a seafood offering they did not buy hey you win some and lose some. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Pho broth was really good. I usually add hosin sauce to my pho but at this location I didn't. The broth had its own flavor and it was very rich in flavors. I added just a little hot sirachi sauce and done! The size gave you so much noodles and meat that it fills you up. I usually order a large at I luv pho and was satisfied but the same large at Pho House got me stuffed. 8-20-18 @ 9:30pm. Pho is now not as good as it used to be. Came in with over 6 tables not cleaned, waited way too long just to get a order in. The buttons at the tables were inoperative. Its not understaffed, its poor management and a poor process. They were worried about refilling the sriracha/sauce rather than clean the tables for new customers. Or asking if customers if they need anything. Food came out not the same times. Herbs/appetizers came out after the Pho. Had to wait 5min to get the herbs. My wifes soup came out 10min after mine. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I've never experience such rude service in my life. First warning sign came even before we walked through the door at a minute or two past 11 PM on Saturday night. Through the windows you could see that half the restaurant already had chairs flipped on top of the tables. We walked through the doors anyway because the hours clearly state that closing time is midnight. We were seated by an employee. Second warning sign was when a guy came to take our order. We ordered the usual: pho with spring rolls and bubble tea. They were out of boba and he stated that they would have to check with the kitchen to see if they were still making spring rolls. An hour before closing. He could have left it at that but had to add "because you see, we stop seating customers at 11." I look at my watch and sure enough it was not even 11:05, and we had been looking at the menu a few minutes before placing the order. In addition, we didn't just saunter in and seat ourselves. His coworker seated us. Ok. Whatever. Not a big deal. Third incident came when we got our food delivered by the same girl that seated us. My bf was putting lime into the pho soup and the lime, being wet, slipped into the bowl. This girl laughs out loud at him and says "Haha, you dropped your lime. Would you like a fork, in case you wanna give up?" This comment was not only unnecessary but extremely condescending and rude. Then they proceed to start mopping the floors while multiple patrons were still dining. They could have started at the far end of the restaurant, which I would not have minded one bit, but they started right by our tables. A clear indication that we are being pushed out. I got the message that we were not wanted loud and clear. Needless to say I had a bad taste in my mouth the entire meal, and I will not be returning in the near future. Which is a shame because the owner is very nice and food is decent. I really hope the manager or owner sees this review because the service when they're not there is horrendous. In the past, I have been charged for a tea that I did not order, which was promptly taken off by the owner once he noticed. My biggest issue was the server that laughed at my bf for a slip. The good: Decor is nice, spacious, modern, good selection of music and service was nice. The bad: Overpriced at 9$ for a small bowl when there are plenty of other options nearby. This was the first pho restaurant I've had where there was a pungent unpleasant beef aroma and taste. I really couldn't stomach it and ended up only eating a portion of my bowl because it didn't sit well with me. The noodles were fine however thinner and seemed less cooked than other pho restaurants or it was probably how the noodles are. Overall I don't see why it was rated so highly. read more

Whatever Pho House is doing, I hope they don't stop because man, that pho was bomb.com. Walked in on a Sunday night (aka last night) and the place was packed. The tables are spaced nicely and there is a good amount of tables but not so much that the place is completely packed. They also have two seating areas for large parties but I'm not sure if you need to reserve or just walk in. Our party of 3 was greeted promptly and we had to wait while the workers cleaned a table for us. The waitress gave us a menu to look at and we didn't have to wait very long to get a table towards the back. We were also greeted by other servers as we made our way to our table. My eyes lit up when I saw the seats. Cushion!!!!! The booth seats and chairs are lined with black cushion and man, that was a total game changer. If you're planning on staying at Pho House for a while, your butt will probably thank you for the extra cushion on the seat. The interior design is modern and there are tvs around the room as well. The menu contains typical Vietnamese dishes. Their appetizer selection is limited to about 3 dishes but it's fine because their focus is on their entrees anyway. I ordered an oxtail pho, which is a special pho on the menu and comes in one size, while my friend ordered a p1 extra large and my husband ordered a beef rice plate. Everything came out quickly, which was really really really nice, and the server asked if we wanted onions and fatty broth. We said "sure" so he promptly brought them out. My oxtail pho + that extra fatty broth was super good! The pho broth seems to be the same as the other broth in Pho House but I thought it was really good. The flavor was there and it was so good that I just added some pepper and veggies and I ate it that way. The oxtail isn't fall-off-the-bone tender but it's still tender enough to eat it without struggling. I ordered a side of rare filet mignon steak and man, that meat was tender. The p1 extra large was huge! It's definitely bigger than the extra large at I Luv Pho. My husband's beef dish was good but he thought the stir fried rice lacked flavor. Don't go here if you're looking for some authentic Bun Bo Hue. The broth was awful, nothing close to what the true broth should be. There wasn't much of the lemongrass or shrimp paste flavor. Their noodles were undercooked (hard in the center) and they put sirloin steak that is normally served with Pho into my bun bo hue, which is absolutely wrong. Bun Bo Hue is best served with beef shank and pork ham. Plus they charge much more for their noodle soups than other Vietnamese restaurants. If you want good Bun Bo Hue, try ATL pho or Chom Chom. read more

I've been here 3 times already, and have always left satisfied. This is a different take on "traditional" Vietnamese food, which can go half a mile down the road for, so if you're looking for a spin on a Vietnamese cuisine, definitely stop by. I was hesitant to try it out first considering how there's at least 3 other pho options around pleasant hill but my friends convinced me! Their service is typical, but like with all new restaurants, it just takes time to know the lunch and dinner rushes in order to put sufficient servers on. Their food though... medium P1 for 8.99 that feels like a large?? Umm?? Yes please. The broth was savory and I could've literally just drank it straight without eating the noodles. They were very generous with the vegetable, meat and condiments. Their pho ga is also something to try because honestly, in my opinion, is the best around pleasant hill. I had the pleasure of talking to the manager?? She was this friendly woman who took the time to make sure our table was taken care of. The reason why the pho ga is 3$ more than the rest is that they get their chicken fresh from the farm, and sometimes run a shortage. That sold me. I only loved it even more! Mi Quang is my favorite Vietnamese fish and even know it was delicious, it was enough to make me full. I wished they added more noodles than meat. This is the first mi Quang I had that didn't come with shrimp. Overall, everything else was delicious. I got the fresh spring rolls (goi cuon) as well and they were great. Unfortunately I came with a huge crowd of 16 people and the server told us "This isn't chuckie e cheese, you all can't sit together." Hurricane Matthew hit and we had to evacuate Savannah. So my husband decided on a mini vacay to Atlanta. On our way up here, one of his friends recommended Pho House. He said it was one of the best pho restaurants in the area. So of course I had to go! As soon as we entered Pho House we noticed how nice and modern the place was. Big, roomy, and filled with Vietnamese families and groups. All the waiters and waitresses were Vietnamese so I already I knew this place was going to be authentic Vietnamese food. After getting so use to the Asian Fusion, hipster spin to Vietnamese food, I was ready for some of the real deal. We were seated promptly and ordered right away. We ordered their chicken wings and fried spring rolls to start. My husband ordered a XL bowl of pho and I had a medium. Food came out fast and it was amazing. We got so much noodles and meat with our serving. My husband couldn't even finish his bowl as much as he tried. The manager was great. He was greeting and saying bye to all the customers and came to our table as we were paying to make sure service and our food was fine. Every time i get to something i want to add to accompany my entree i have to ask for each one to be brought out because they forgot. One of my top Pho places on the strip. My fave is the Oxtail Pho, the broth is so good! You don't see a lot of oxtail on the menu at Pho places around here so it keeps me coming back for more. They don't have bahnmi here so that is definitely a bummer for all the bahnmi lovers. The decor is pretty modern and they even have service bells (not all tables)! At first I was a little offended at the idea of having to "ring" for service but now have come to accept, use, abuse, and love it. The manager seems nice and is always asking how our meal is going and how everything was, so a + on feeling valued. I think this (next to pho dai loi) is my preference when it comes to vietnamese food. This is the place that has special items that you can't find at other restaurants daily. The space is big and customer service was decent. I see that they have a nice drink menu with different kinds of bubble teas, didn't get to try any since I hear they are a bit to sweet. Mi Quang: This is yellow egg noodle soup with seasoned chicken and shrimp. The broth is rich. Growing up, i really enjoy eating this dish. it's comforting and I love egg noodles. This item can't be found at your other establishments so I'm glad to know this is a staple on the menu here. Veggie Pho: I'm happy to see that there is a vegetarian section here. At the other places you have to ask and sometimes they just don't cater to the vegetarian needs. The broth i thought was just okay, it seemed like there was a lot of soy sauce in it.
