Ive been eating pho for a while and this place has some good and bad things. The good: the broth is very good! I ordered the Thai tea as well and it was well balanced, sometimes Thai tea is extremely sweet, but here it was spot on. The Bad: I ordered the beef tenderloin pho, we were brought the side garnishments that typically accompany Pho. Theses veggies were old and wilted, maybe it was because we came at the end of the week in Sunday but either way, I've never had veggies in such bad condition. Came here twice and the first time the food was Amazing. The second time I saw the server cough directly into the Pho Soup he was carrying out to serve. I then looked around at the open kitchen and cringed, cause it's not very clean. Oh my gosh! We were looking for something different and we found it. This was our first time trying pho and we absolutely loved it. For the kids we got chicken fried rice, but they enjoyed the egg noodles more, which were the egg noodles served with my seafood dish. I've been coming here for years and I'll continue to dine here when I get a craving for pho. There are plenty of Vietnamese restaurants I enjoy, but no other pho really compares. Their bowls are consistently delicious and I have never had any sort of service or food issue. They gotta be doing something different - to me, no other pho comes close to Pho Houston's. Tucked away, relatively quiet, straightforward and quick service, always clean, reasonably priced for the portion of soup you receive. This Pho place has been in Midtown for over three decades. Other than Pho, they have other dishes, such as spring rolls, egg rolls, several rice plates, Vermicelli, and banh mi. Their food is consistent in taste and served quickly after you place the order. The restaurant is kind of old but clean. The service is efficient. Love the food, service, and general atmosphere of this place. Also, best pho in McAllen/Edinburg area (possibly the RGV, but I haven't been to all Vietnamese restaurants in the valley). This is my partner's and my ***favorite*** and go-to restaurant in the area. We now come here almost every week or every two weeks since we first tried it out. After moving from Boston, we were rather disappointed by food options in the McAllen/Edinburg area (looking at you Yasuke...) but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of Pho Houston. The food definitely bests that of other local options - Vietnamese (e.g., Snow Bite) and not (e.g., Republic of the Rio Grande). The service is also top notch in a small business-like fashion (e.g., the owner frequently checks on and cares for customers). The place is not overly staffed, so you won't get service every two minutes during busy times - but they are attentive (e.g., our waters are regularly re-filled), flexible (e.g., they've swapped in multiple menu substitutions when we've brought our vegetarian and vegan friends), and genuinely nice. There aren't any other restaurants in the area that come close to our satisfaction and continued patronage of this place. So whether or not you are interested in pho in particular, this is a restaurant to try. read more

They had a list of varieties for pho alone. We had number 6 which came with beef tenderloin and beef balls, and number 7, with beef tenderloin and tendons. The beef was very tender with a lot of flavor and the tendons were yummy. One thing me and my wife noticed was they brought out the pho fairly quickly. It's wasn't very hot, but warm enough to enjoy. The price range is good for the amount you get as well. I ordered a Thai iced tea afterwards, but to me it was a little watered down. I stopped by this place while doing errands in McAllen and ended up stumbling upon a gem in the rough. I certainly didn't expect pho that tasted as well as some of the higher quality places in the Houston area and this place does live up to their name. The meat and broth had flavor to it and the pho itself wasn't all chewy or rough. The only issue I saw was that the waitress seemed to be new and wasn't familiar with some of the items or the culture of Asian establishments but it doesn't detract from the restaurant at all. I can certainly say that this would probably be the best pho place in all of the RGV at this point. read more
