Let me start off by saying I love spicy food. However, no matter how spicy that you may think you like your food, you will want to scale back on it here. I ordered the Thai basil chicken nachos. They will ask you how hot you would like it on a scale of 1 - 10. I ordered mine medium spicy and selected a 7. Big mistake, maybe because it was in the 90's with 100% humidity or maybe because they were really that hot, I had a hard time enjoying my nachos. While the chicken was cooked well and had a wonderful basil flavor, it was just too spicy to really enjoy. I would get them again but would probably order them as a 3 or 4.That being said, all the ingredients were fresh and the portion was huge, must have weighed about 2 lbs. If you happen to run across Pho-jita Fusion keep it mild and give them a try. I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

Wow wow wow! I think their red curry alone deserves a 5 star! It comes with juicy chicken, tender eggplant and flavorful curry, full and balanced flavor also it comes with ginger rice, their portion is also generous. One of my favorite food trucks. My favorite dishes are the curry, Thai basil chicken w/ rice and Thaimales. I don't have high expectations for food from food trucks (most food trucks serve generic stuff like tacos, loaded fries, burgers, etc) cause well there's limitations when your food is on wheels but their curry tasted like it came from a restaurant. It was rich and had a perfect balance between sweet and savory. I also didn't expect the Thai basil chicken to be so good, and I mean GOOD. I feel like the chicken rice (rice cooked in chicken broth) really brings the dish together. I have yet to try their Pho, which I hope they bring back once fall begins. read more

The idea of Thai fusion intrigued me. The idea of Thai fusion food truck just blew my mind. OK, not really, but definitely pegged my interest. So when Pho-jita made their way to EastDo food truck park, I rode an Uber car to try Pho-jita at the food truck park. When I got there, I changed my mind and went for straight up Thai food. I ordered the Chicken Basil over rice topped with a fried egg. The chicken basil was excellent. It was spicy for me and I loved it. The rice had some scent to it that I didn't care for, but it didn't deter me to finish the whole thing. If they were to use white jasmine rice that would have been a whole lot better. Nevertheless, I give this dish a thumb up. One other thing I wish they have is a condiment tray to season the dish to my own liking. Adding a little bit of fish sauce with Thai pepper on my chicken basil would be sublime. read more

Tried out Pho-Jita for the first time at a food truck festival and I have to say I'm a huge fan of the Asian/Mexican fusion which is a big hit in the food truck scene. With that being said, a lot of them are Korean/Mexican fusion and I had never seen a Thai/Mexican fusion before. Went with the quesadillas which come with Thai basil chicken with spicy mayo and pico de gallo on top. Excellent.. Was @ Back Pew Brewery on Saturday 5/18. Ordered the Quesadilla and the Chicken Basil. I ordered the dilla for my kids, my wife and a friend of hers ate almost all of it. It's thicker than I thought it would be, loaded with a ton of chicken and cheese, well worth $9. The Chicken Basil was excellent, i ordered it mild thinking the kids might eat some. Mild was still spicy but very very good, was enough for two meals. My 2yo & 4yo ate most of the ginger rice and fried egg. I've passed by this food truck so many times and I've finally decided to give it a try. I have to say, it was a good decision. The flavors are great, the portions are great, and the price is reasonable. This food truck has some great Thai food. They use fresh chili's and ingredients and you can really taste it. It's was on 2018 before the pandemic. Me & friends tried their food it's good & reasonable price. & also well diverse food.

I was initially unsure of Pho-jita when I saw that it was a Thai-Mexican fusion truck with "pho" in the name. I was like "Do these folks know what they're doing? Does pho have a different meaning in 'Thai'?" I clearly overthink this stuff. Then I imagined the possibilities (red curry quesadillas! papaya tacos!). This pedant was temporarily assuaged. They serve Thai-style pho, hence the name. They have cute items like "Gordi-thais!" and Thai tacos. I went with a more pedestrian but equally promising choice, the basil chicken. All sense of adventure leaves me when I'm eating after a workout. I really appreciated that the chef asked if I indeed wanted the egg sunny side-up. I believe sunny side-up eggs make life worth living but they freak some people out (we remain friends for other reasons) so that was considerate of him. The basil chicken came out in less than ten minutes. It was stir-fried and served over a bed of fluffy ginger rice. It was so delicious and fresh. The rice was perfectly fluffy and had hints of ginger and coconut while the chicken was fantastically tender and flavored with fresh basil. With a sunny-side egg broken over the top, it was the perfect rainy Sunday afternoon lunch. While it was certainly substantial, the dish didn't weigh me down at all. Unlike a lot of food truck fare, it wasn't greasy or decadent to the point where you'd visit just annually or when you're wasted, whichever comes more often. It tasted as if the owners cared about the quality of the ingredients as well as the taste. As someone who often eats on the go, this and the reasonable portion sizes make me more likely to return. I tend to eat everything in front of me so less is more, at least in terms of my arteries. I will definitely return to sample the rest of the menu, as the freshness of the food and its clean flavors made me think that this could be what Thai street food is like. I'll have to go to Bangkok to investigate that though. Maybe we could start a Kickstarter fund on Yelp? If they ever add a red curry quesadilla to the menu, Yelp me, maybe? read more

I've ordered from this truck about 3x now at the Houston Food Park, and it's delicious! I'd never tried this type of 'fusion' before, so I was a little iffy at first, but it really is very tasty. My hubby and I have tried the pad-thai, tor-thai, and basil chicken. The pad thai is a stir fry noodle dish with veggies and chicken, the tor-thai is like a Mexican torta, but with different delicious spices, and the basil chicken is a mix of chicken, rice, and veggies topped with a fried egg. All are generous portions, and are made to order. Served hot and fresh, not like the usually 'everything is fried' food truck. This is one of my fav trucks now...I'm officially a food truck fan. read more

Phojita came to my workplace, and I decided to try it out because it was the shortest line. I got the Basil Chicken based off of yelp reviews, and I did not find it to be as delicious as I read. I wasn't asked how spicy I wanted it, so I assumed it just came with a spicy level per previous reviews. It was not spicy. The rice was ok. The chicken was a little bland. The egg was fried perfect. A coworker got the Pho-thai and the thaimales and she loved her stuff. I may go back and try those items, but basil chicken definitely did not sell me on this truck. read more

The concept is interesting, but the execution is not so great. My taco was TINY- maybe 2 fingers thick, with a few morsels of meat, and not very good. The guacamole was dark and unappealing as it had oxidized. The chicken pad thai on the other hand was huge, but lacked that tamarind flavor that makes pad thai special and was incredibly, almost inedibly greasy. The noodles at the bottom were drowning in sauce and unfortunately soggy and breaking apart. They called us an hour before event began, said their truck broke down, and they never showed up. I stumbled upon this place while walking through Rice Village during the lunch hour. I was intrigued when I read that it was Thai fusion! The menu has a lot of great options and I had a hard time narrowing down my choices. They gave me a couple recommendations but they told me their most popular was the Thai Basil chicken, which is served with a fried egg and ginger rice. If that was their most popular dish, I figured I would go for it. They definitely get 5 stars for portions and service. The people working the truck are friendly and willing to give recommendations, which I always appreciate! It seemed like they had some regulars come by because they greeted some of the other patrons by name. The Thai basil chicken however was a bit of a disappointment. The meat was a little dry and the marinade was only okay- I wish there was just a tad of sweetness in it to make this more tasty. I won't order it again, but I'm open to coming back to sample some of their more fusion items. One of my favorite Thai restaurants is Thai gourmet and I found myself comparing this dish to theirs, and there was just no comparison. My family, my coworkers and myself are all hardcore fans for Pho-jita simply for their super awesome, super tasty, super hearty, super unique and super comforting Thaimales! At $9, with 2 Thaimales running at around 9 inches each (per my eyeballing, may not be precise but the point is they are huge), I have not encountered better deals than this at any other food truck. Now that we got the portion covered, the food itself is phenomenal. I can't confirm what they put in there, but I think they use potato as the starch base for the Thaimales with a mix of other types of veggies??! The shredded chicken in the Thaimales has some basil Thai-ish flavoring to it. On top it's covered in fresh salsa and this amazing tasty fusion creamy sauce that serves as the perfect ending touch. Every time when they call my name, when I had that beautiful Thaimales plate in my hands, I can't help with the excitement and the rush I get from my brain anticipation and saliva glands. I am grateful for the invention of Thaimales and the flawless execution. Regarding other items on the menu, I have not had a chance to try them yet simply because it is an impossible decision for me to forego Thaimales to have room to try something else. I'm always curious which food truck is parked by Inversion...so i plan my 'errands' to pass by and saw pho-jita and figure why not try it. Bad timing - arrived just as a big group of people were there...so had to wait a bit. Ordered the chicken basil with egg and a beef taco (both ordered extra spicy) Got back to office and the smell was yummy. Had the chicken basil first, wasnt as spicy as i'd like (added some pepper flakes) The rice with runny egg yolk plus the chicken was really good, and very filling. Took a 30min break before tackling the taco, and i guess i was kinda full and didnt really enjoy the taco. I will definitely be back for the chicken basil and will ask for 'thai spicy'. read more

Anyways, took about 30mins for the food to come, and waiting in the heat always add fun to the wait and the food was okay. The best gad damn Thai red curry EVER. This truck blessed my boring Wednesday in the office by providing me two days worth of absolutely fantastic red Thai chicken curry! I'm what some would say "well travelled." Thai red curry is especially a favorite dish of mine and I have sampled versions of it world wide including Thailand itself and can say this lovely little foods trucks version is up there with the best. Not to mention the portion size is enough for 2-3 days it tastes better each day! The staff were courteous and gave us samples of each dish, the prices are fine. I'd 100% recommend it. read more

We ordered the Beef Curry (awesome), the thai-males (good), and the tor-thai(best fckin torta i ever had in my life). The Curry sauce had perfect texture and a great taste. That Torta was bomb. I tried them out this past Friday and I fell in love. I had their Thai-Basil Chicken with egg and ginger rice. It was the so good. They allow you to select the heat level that you wanted, I chose medium and it was spicy, but I will probably go one or two levels up next time. I've had the worst pad-thai in my life. And this includes the time I had pad Thai in a small Switzerland village and thought that was the worst. First of all, i didn't feel the tamarind sauce at all. No peanuts (but let's just say they don't use it cause some people have allergies). And a super strong smell/taste of burned. Maybe I just got something that was burned BUT they shouldn't have served it to me. I took a photo so that everyone can see how brown the dish was, it's not supposed to be this color. Wow! I tried the tamales and the torta, and they were absolutely delicious. They are each easily a meal on their own but I couldn't resist getting both to review them. Tamales were definitely my favorite. My coworker got the basil chicken and wasn't impressed like the other reviewers. FYI, the tamales are at least 4 times bigger than your usual tamale, so if you want to get one to try with something else you can just order one instead of two because otherwise it'll be too much food. read more

Tried this food truck at the Midtown Art Festival. I got the basil chicken stir fry with ginger rice & a dried egg. YUMMY! They give you so much food. Well worth the price.
