The pokpok wings 4.5/5 If you like buffalo wings, this is a great rendition of it but slightly more ceeamy (pleasant) The yanch sauce was a clean mayo tasting sauce and it complemented the pok pok wings finely. The fries 4/5 Adequately seasoned and nice fluffy potato texture. Mango lassi 2/5 Floral. If you like flower or tropical punch after taste this is for you. Its creamy but floral which isn't for me. Unique taste. Parking isnt too bad. Just park near Gen in the parking garage and walk over (2min). I may come back if im in the area.
Went for lunch and opted to split the 6 piece chicken strip combo. You order at a self-check kiosk and service is quick and friendly. The restaurant is small, but with plentiful seating, connected to another similar restaurant doing bowls. It was fairly empty on a Sunday afternoon. The portion is huge! For about $21, it fed two people with plenty of left overs. The chicken is nice and crispy, with good seasoning. I wasn't super impressed by the sauces but I think it was more of a personal preference (not a big fan of ginger or cilantro). The fries were nice and crispy. The mango lassi was smooth and sweet. Overall, pretty good! Probably not something I'd go out of my way for but definitely worth the try.
We came in for a weeknight dinner and got the double Kathi roll combo and smash burger. Both orders came out within a reasonable time given the other patrons in the restaurant, and tasted great. I appreciated that the fries were not limp, but I did expect them to have some kind of spice seasoning on them. The spice dust on the chicken in the rolls was a spice blend without much heat, even though the spice dust is advertised as adding heat. Overall a solid meal but I think I expected more from a Chef Jassi creation after having been to and loving Amrina and Kitchen Rumors.
I loved their wraps (honestly I didn't even eat most of the fries because the wraps were soo good). I recommend trying this place the next time you're in town.
Saw this new to me spot next to Jinya and Piola in the Midtown / lower Downtown area. Parking is available in the adjacent parking garage. The interior is fairly odd; it's a self service, self order, fast food setup with an adjacent restaurant that serves food in a Chipotle style line. The food here is a fusion type; I got a mango lassi (overly sweet, hopefully from the mango and not added sugar), chicken sandwich, fries, loaded fries, and some chicken wings. Overall, the food was fairly mediocre; the wings were bland, the chicken in the sandwich wasn't breaded and the bread was cold and soggy. The kimchi slaw in the sandwich was also very bland and not very flavorful. The fries were seasoned well and tasty. Compared to chicken sandwich spots, this was a step below expectations in terms of both flavor and bang for the buck.
Had an opportunity to try out that World Cup Combo that they got going on over here for a limited time. Great for your money and honestly great for a late lunch/early dinner or just skip lunch and go straight to dinner for this. Definitely worth going back to again!!!

The chicken on the sandwich was juicy, flavorful and paired well with the crunch of the lettuce and tanginess of the kimchi; not to mention the soft potato bun. The fries were seasoned well and tasted good with both the delicious and naughty sauces. The mango lassi was also good but interesting with a thick consistency and a pretty sweet flavor. Additionally the staff was friendly and prepared my order accurately. Overall, I had a great experience here, receiving fresh, tasty food at a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend checking them out!
I have been wanting to try this place for so long. Today I finally did and it did NOT disappoint! Pok Pok Po had excellent customer service. The woman at the front was so bubbli and kind, let me try anything I wanted and then some, and was honest with her reviews. I loved the design of the packaging; really adds to the quick food feel. I got the chicken bites with spice dust, Pok Pok sauce and kimchi. Wow. All I can say is wow. The chicken alone was so flavorful that I didn't even need the sauce; although the sauce was amazing! The kimchi was outstanding and fresh. This all came out to about $10, great price!! I can't wait to bring other people here during their happy hour!!
I was visiting my friend in Houston and I saw this spot pop up on my instagram and I told her I wanted to try it! We ordered a bunch of different things and family styled everything. We got the chicken sandwich, fries, the chicken bowl and the mango lassi. I was expecting the sandwich to be a little spicer but it honestly wasn't spicy at all. I feel like the chicken in the sandwich and the bowl could have used a little more flavor and spice. I liked the masala fries and the lassi! The mango lassi was a little too thick for my taste but it was still pretty good! The food isn't bad but I think they should add a little more flavor to the chicken!
Pok Pok Po is one the most unique fast casual chicken spots in Houston! They bring an Indian twist to the usual hot chicken spots that have popped up all over Houston. Would I come back? For sure whenever I'm craving some flavorful chicken! Service was honestly pretty quick considering they make all the food to order. This is definitely the best for quality since you're guaranteed hot, fresh, juicy chicken. Ambiance wise, the place is pretty nice. Lots of natural lighting, spacious, plenty of tables/bench seats, and it's connected to their other fast casual concept, Bol, which is like the Indian version of Chipotle. For food, we tried their loaded chic fries w/ naughty sauce and a mango lassi, and their loaded rice n shine topped w/ delicious sauce and yanch sauce on the side. The mango lassi was very unique in that it has a spice kick of cardamon/star anise to it. Don't sleep on the balle balle fries here, some of the tastiest fries in the city, especially when you dip them in all of their different sauces! My only small complaint here is that you can't adjust the spice level of your chicken. I personally like REALLY spicy chicken so I would have upped the spice level if possible! I also would have liked another chicken tender to be served per order, I thought 2 on top of the rice wasn't enough meat for how much rice you get. Otherwise, I'll be back again for sure! Enjoy!

Went on a Friday night and ordered the chicken sandwich with naughty sauce, the 4 pcs chicken strips meal (with balle balle fries and delicious sauce), and the loaded rice and shine to share. I also got a mango lassi to enjoy. The chicken sandwich was juicy and tender and I enjoyed the Indian blend of spices in the batter of the chicken. The desi kimchi helps to cut through the fattiness of the chicken and the sauce on the sandwich is very flavorful and curry-esk. Overall, all the elements together with the soft potato bun make a solid chicken sandwich with an Indian flair. The naughty sauce on the side reminded me of a chutney and added a nice brightness to the creamy/fattiness of the sandwich. (6.5/10) The chicken strips were coated in the same batter as the chicken patty in the sandwich and were just as tender. The seasoning on the balle balle fries was solid and very comparable to other chicken and fries I've had. (5/10) The loaded rice and shine was essentially the chicken tenders and the desi kimchi on top of a bed of rice with delicious sauce on top ,so you really can't go wrong with it. (6/10) The mango lassi was my favorite part of the meal because of the strong cardamom flavor. It made it unique to other mango lassi I've tried and I found myself savoring it throughout the meal. The food at Pok Pok Po was incredible. I was slightly hesitant as I wasn't sure how the flavors would mix and how an indian style chicken sandwich would taste, but they convinced me! The food was quick to be ready, I like the seating options and the ability to play board games if you want! It was an overall good experience! The chicken sandwich was a 10/10 in my opinion and the mango lassi was pretty good too, id give it an 8.5/10! I can't wait to go back and try all that they have to offer!!

I have to admit, I was very hesitant about checking this place out, but my husband insisted, so we made the trip to Midtown Houston--and I'm so glad we did. It did not disappoint. The setup is simple and unpretentious, but the food speaks for itself. I'm not sure what they put on that chicken, but it was incredibly well seasoned and perfectly cooked. It was juicy on the inside with a crispy, flavorful exterior. We also ordered the fries without the spicy seasoning since I don't do spicy, and they were absolutely amazing. Whatever seasoning they use is the real secret to this place. I couldn't stop eating them. I'll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a delicious, satisfying meal without all the fuss. read more

Fun chicken shop with a strong identity. Pricing and portions are fair. Love the Indian-inspired flavors and that they stay open late, 10:00p on weekdays and up to 11:00p on weekends. They share the space with Bol, which looks like an Indian food "make-your-own" bowl bar. I didn't try Bol personally but there are lots of options here if visiting with a group. Interior was very modern and clean. Lots of board games stocked. The occasional solicitor poked their head in but the vibes were good overall. Ordered via self-service so I didn't notice the actual human service too much, but it was prompt. I had the Kathi Roll, which was a fried chicken thigh strip rolled up with onions and sauce in a paratha. The chicken and sauce was flavorful, but the paratha was amazing and I wish I could have gotten a side of just the bread! "Delicious Sauce" was very good, mostly tasting like butter chicken sauce. I tried my friend's Balle Balle fries which were super flavorful, and washed it all down with a Mango Lassi. The lassi here is a bit turmeric-forward, which was fine by me, but could be noticeable to people who aren't used to it. I don't tolerate spice well so I was nervous what to expect, but the heat level was very tolerable. My spice-loving friends still found the food flavorful with a good heat level, so I don't think it was because it was too weak. Pok Pok Po is by the same company that's behind Amrina in the Woodlands and you can see it in the creativity of the flavors. We both tried the combo #1. This included the chicken sandwich, a side (we both opted for the balle balle fries), and a choice of drink. I really enjoyed the chicken sandwich, especially the desi kimchi that was on top of the chicken. It had the right amount of acidity and crunch that went well with the saucy nature of the sandwich. My only gripe was that the chicken to bun ratio was slightly off. I felt that there was more bun than my chicken halfway through my meal. The fries that it came with were good and made me want more and more as I was going through my meal. The most perfect bite was with the chicken sandwich + fries + the desi kimchi on top of the chicken. The sauce that came on the side was good but I think I should've opted to get a different sauce because it tasted similar if not the same as the sauce on top of the chicken sandwich. Got the chicken strips...they advertise as "bold, creative flavors with commitment to quality" however I found both missing...it had absolutely no flavor and desperately needed salt. The place just opened so maybe they're still figuring it out? Also the strip is very skinny...prob should've called it a nugget. Sorry, there is much better in Houston. Mango lassi 4/5 Loaded Rice and Shine 5/5 Fries 5/5 Overall I would say this place stood up to the hype of the Indian Chick-fil-A in every aspect except the price. I got the Loaded rice and shine combo with drink upgrade to mango lassi and everything came out to $24 before tax and tip. I was feeling pretty hungry so I got the rice bowl and the sauce it came with, which is a little sweet, pairs really well with spicy chicken. The chicken itself has a good peanut after taste, which made it very delicious and aromatic. I later confirmed with the chef that they fry their chicken in peanut oil by default but you can request a different oil (I believe she said sunflower seed oil) if you have a peanut allergy, though just be warned that the peanut aroma will be all over the restaurant. The fries is where this place really shines, each fry is coated with a layer of spice blend that makes it delicious without any sauce. The combo also comes with one of their signature sauces. I got the green one, which I was told was very spicy but even as someone who does not eat a lot of spicy food, I didn't find it overwhelming. Lastly, the mango lassi was nice and thick but also very heavy on the turmeric taste, which can be polarize for people. In our table of 3, 2 of us liked it and 1 person absolutely hated it, so I would say maybe share one before committing to your own. read more

Great service - instantly greeted when we walked in. The food is a little pricy in my opinion, but it was plenty filling for two people to share the 6 tenders and fries. The chicken and fries came out piping hot, and had a nice flavor to them. I would've liked it to be a bit spicier, but I definitely liked it anyways. I was a bit disappointed, however, because the soda machine seems to not be working too well. All of the sodas were flat and we had to wait a bit for the ice machine to produce ice. read more

Mimi & Lanel- the manager- are GREAT folks here at the restaurant and introduced me to some really good sauces: I liked 3 a whole lot: Green - Avocado sauce; Orange- tastes like abutter Ckn sauce; Kim chi -Desi sauce also delicious! Got chicken tenders and fries. Fries were perfectly seasoned and so was the chicken. Both came out piping hot and fresh from the fryer, but not greasy at all! Only issue I had with the meal is that it took some time to get to me, but seeing that it was made to order, I didn't mind the wait. Will definitely be back for more. read more
