We gave the newly opened Pho Le Vy in Porterville a try and while the food was genuinely delicious, there were a few bumps in the experience. One issue worth mentioning right away -- I was charged $5 for extra meat that should've been included in my House Special Pho. Due to a miscommunication, I was first served the Rare Steak Pho instead, and though they eventually brought out the correct meat cuts, it took some time and I was still charged for it, which was frustrating given it was their mistake. That aside, the food itself was really good. We had the Rocket Shrimp, Pho, and took a Bun Bo Hue to-go -- all packed with flavor and very satisfying. Service was a bit slow, likely due to being short-staffed, and a few menu items weren't available yet, but that didn't bother us too much. We understand they're still getting things up and running. Hopefully, they work out the kinks as they get more established, because the food itself does have potential. read more

Super high quality, authentic cuisine! We ordered the beef and chicken pho, and the pork dry noodle. They did not have pork so they gave us lamb. They were all absolutely delicious. Rich, flavorful, large portions with beautiful presentation. They've only been open a week, so with limited staff it did take quite a while to get our food, but the cook came and apologized and gave us a generous discount. The waiters/family were very kind. OMG this place was AMAZING! We definitely were hungry after hiking all day in Sequoia National Forest, but there was definitely something different about this place, it wasn't just how hungry we were. We had seen in other Yelp reviews that the service could be a bit slow, but we weren't really concerned about that. We ordered the go-to things we tend to order at Vietnamese restaurants, pork egg rolls, lemongrass chicken, and a large brisket pho, all of which we planned on sharing, which definitely is the way to do it here!! Everything came out one at a time, in the order we had ordered it. Other tables seemed to be getting their food as it was ready too, 1-2 dishes at a time. This worked really well for us since it was basically like having a 3 course meal. First was the pork egg rolls. We wanted to try the shrimp & pork, but they only had pork or chicken. We don't usually see different options for egg rolls at restaurants like this though, so pork was fine. And it was WAY more than fine! These were the best Vietnamese egg rolls we've had ever had! You could tell they were homemade... so much flavor, absolutely amazing! Next came the lemongrass chicken, this is usually a vermicelli noodle dish at other restaurants we've ordered it, but here it was a healthy portion of chicken with a side of rice and fresh veggies, and of course fish sauce. It was equally delicious and perfect for sharing! Again, I'm pretty sure this was better than lemongrass chicken we've ordered anywhere else! It also came with a side of beef broth soup, which had TONS of flavor! I got super excited about their pho when I tasted it and assumed it might be the same broth. When we were about halfway through our lemongrass chicken, our brisket pho arrived. The broth was amazing, but a little different than the beef broth soup that came with the lemongrass chicken. There was definitely a good portion of meat in the pho, but wow, how thin it was cut! I don't think I've seen brisket cut this thin in pho before. It was super easy to eat with the soup and you could easily break it up if you want meat with every bite. Literally everything we ordered was the best we had ever had! We assumed we were going to regret the quantity of food we ate. We were so hungry and everything was so good that we ate so much, so fast! But happy to report that we left with very happy bellies! While we felt full, it wasn't the same kind of full we felt from burgers the night before. It was a perfectly satisfying full! We highly recommend this place if you are in the area. First of this place is great! The food is delicious 6 stars We got a different dishes and all were great. I got the spicy soup and even tho I felt full around the end of it, it was too good to leave any leftovers. I ended up finishing it. The drinks were also great! If you like macha milk tea, get it. I loved it. The lemonade and orange juice are freshly made with real fruit. The service is amazing: 6 stars When arriving, we were seated pretty quickly. We got there at a good time as there were not many customers, much different from when we left. But everyone that arrived got seated pretty quickly too. The comes out at a reasonable time, what you would expect from a good dish being prepared. The appetizer came out pretty fast and so did our drink. The ambience is comfortable: 6 stars The restaurant is small but there was no feeling of being rushed, just the feeling that they are happy you're there enjoying the food. 10/10 would come back. Service was a tad slow but the restaurant is newly opened and seems like they're in dire need of staffing because it was just two people there doing both kitchen and serving jobs. Pho was tasty and the broth is super rich. Service was slow because they are family owned and operated with little staff--but their customer service was excellent in terms of attitude and courtesy. I ordered the Bacon wrapped shrimp Eggrolls, Pho Le Vy House Special Pho, and the Lemongrass Chicken Plate they were delicious! Coming from a person that eats at Little Saigon in Orange County.
