Went for lunch on a Wednesday around noon. Some empty tables at that time but also several people picking up takeout orders. I'll give them 5 stars for freshly made, well-seasoned and generous portion of grilled chicken over white rice. Very reasonable prices compared to the new Vietnamese places on Hylan Boulevard. What I dislike about this place is the old & very tacky "decor" and uncomfortable chairs that have metal bars poking your back. Ate my meal sitting on the edge of my seat. Nowadays we're not eating out as often so I would prefer not having to stare at dusty old Christmas decorations and various other things cluttering their limited space. I came here for dinner with my family. For a Thursday night, it was really packed! There are only a few tables so this place wouldn't be good for big groups. I was feeling a bit under the weather so I opted for pho which always hits the spot when I am sick. I am not a big fan of beef so I got the grilled chicken. The chicken was delicious and flavored well. I deducted 1 star because the broth was kinda bland. My family said they liked their food. Average Vietnamese place in Staten Island, everything was fine, not great, not terrible, just fine. I won't go out of my way to go there, but if I am in the area and craving pho, I would stop in. I haven't been to Pho Mac in a few years! After some Black Friday shopping, my aunt wanted some soup and luckily Pho Mac wasn't too far away. We went during the early afternoon and we were seated quickly. My aunt had the seafood pho and I had regular beef pho with tendon and brisket. My aunt was very surprised to see how large the portion was and she was able to take half home with her. As for me, I gobbled it down. The broth was clear and not cloudy- very tasty. On a cold and rainy Saturday evening, we visited Pho Mac for some warm pho. The owners are Cantonese and provided great service and tea, which is unusual for pho places but greatly appreciated. We took some time reading through the menu and they were very patient with us. They also have upstairs seating as well, which was needed as the restaurant got busier as it got later. We ordered the pho with grilled chicken, vermicelli with grilled pork and spring roll, and Vietnamese coffee. The coffee was delicious and refreshing as always and my boyfriend had a great first experience with pho. The chicken was nice and tender, but some parts of it seemed undercooked.The pork was interestingly thinly sliced but it was very flavorful and the perfect combination with the vermicelli. I liked how there wasn't an overwhelming amount of vegetables with the dish, which I find to be an issue at many other pho places. Overall, Pho Mac was a pretty good pho place and I would come back again! read more

My go-to place when I'm craving Vietnamese food on the island! I usually get #3 or #4 pho and it never disappoints. The meat is lean -- not fatty, but also very tender. They give a substantial amount of noodles, with great broth, leaving me extremely satisfied and full. I usually get delivery but I ate inside once. Pho Mac never fails to impress me. My family has been going to this place for the past 12 years or more. Glad they came back after Covid.

My other half and I have been coming here since they opened in the early 2000. This was our Indian family's go to dine out spot. I'm not Vietnamese but I did introduce them over the years to the many tasty options that Pho Mac offers. The Pho is on par with Pho's I got in Chinatown. I've tried other Vietnamese spots because I do love Vietnamese food but Pho Mac is like coming home. So happy that the quality of their food remains unchanged. read more

Pho Mac was always one of our to-go places in Staten Island (before Covid) whenever we were craving for nice bowl of Pho in the area. Coming back from New Jersey, about 1.5 hours away, we thought to call them up to see when their kitchen's last call is. Me: Hi! We would like what time is your kitchen's last call, please? The dude: FOR WHAT?!?! (Already not liking his tone.) Me: Your kitchen's last call to dine in. The dude: 8 o'clock. And so, we arrived at 7:30pm. As we asked for a table for four, we got so confused. THE SAME DUDE: We have no more noodle soup. NO MORE PHO NO MORE SOUP!!! Okay.... I just wish you would have told us that when we called 1.5 hours ago, so we did not have to make a detour for a comforting meal that we thought we were going to have. A Pho shop that runs out of pho noodle soup, it's like a Chinese take out restaurant running out of rice, or a pizzeria running out of cheese and pizza dough, or a sushi restaurant running out of sushi rice. Unbelievable. However, it's alright. Good thing I'm not a super fan for Pho. P.S. Some Staten Island-ers told me that food quality is not as good as it was before Covid in Pho Mac. Got some summer rolls, curry w/ bread (you can also get it with rice), #42- bun cha gio thit nuong, milk tea, and iced lemon soda The summer rolls was a perfect starter and the peanut sauce was on point. Ordered #30- curry with either bread or rice and got the bread. The bread was warm! And the curry paired so nicely with the warm bread. The chicken in the curry was so tender, pulled apart from the bone so easily! There was some potatoes as well, and it was soft. Overall, I know this is a pho restaurant but please try this curry! Ordered some bun cha gio thit nuong and it was soooo good! They didn't skimp out on the meat! They gave plenty of meat, as it will grilled nicely. The flavorful with each bite of the noodles was so yummies! The pickled veggies aren't the typical julienned style, the flavor was there and paired nicely with this dish. They gave a pretty big amount for one serving, I didn't fully finish my bowl. Milk tea: if you know classic Milk tea styles from bakeries, Pho Mac nailed that! Iced lemon soda tasted like a sprite, but with more lemons haha. Overall: customer service was excellent as well, they kept checking up on me. Clean, single use chopsticks and sauce containers. Beef broth is savory and light but flavorful. It does not seem to contain MSG. Summer Roll is fresh and warm when served. The sauce paired with it is sweet and savory with hoisin and peanut sauce. Spring Rolls are made different from other Vietnamese restaurants. Waiters are clear and direct. Food comes fast and hot. Limited parking in their parking lot. Plenty of seats throughout the restaurant, there are two floors, Upstairs has booth and tables. The place is homely and authentic. Pho Mac has to be my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in NYC. The food there never misses and is very consistent. You can go there with the family for a spontaneous dinner when mom doesn't want to cook or just to grab take out. For a great price, you always leave there full with a stomach containing so many different flavors. Not to mention, the service is great and the ambiance gives off a sense of authenticity you can't find in most places. My favorite things to eat there are either the #17 or #19 pho noodle soups, summer rolls, pork on tiny rice sticks, and the Buddha delight. I think one of the most important things when eating pho is the noodle-to-broth ratio along with the flavors in the broth. Pho Mac nails it EVERY time. read more

I AM A LITERAL FAN OF PHO and Pho Mac doesn't not disappoint at all! The vegetable pho is actually vegan and it is amazing! I've gone to Manhattan for some expensive pho and still nothing beats this place. The bubble tea is also insanely amazing for a pho place. They also have desserts which are pretty good definitely not as amazing as the rest of the things they have. However, the stopped indoor dining and I really hope they start soon again because take out pho loses its taste. read more
