We ordered $35.00 worth of food and the only thing that was edible was 8 fried wontons. The egg rolls we hard as a rock, I think they were old and recooked. The rice was so dry I was choking on it. Can I give this place a 6 stars?!?! Usually I dont give 5 stars unless it really deserves all the stars. Peking Taste deserves an extraordinary amount stars for their quality in food. I dont visit Staten Island often(maybe once or twice a month) but when i do, i MUST stop by Peking Taste. This place is the definition of hidden gem! Its inside this plaza, right next to cold stone. I've been going here for the past two years, I think my long distance relationship with Peking is getting pretty serious. The dishes are jam packed with flavor and tenderness in all the dishes! Tonight I ordered the Eggplant with Chicken (my favorite meal), on my ride back home I was daydreaming about how mouthwatering this meal would be. My fantasy could not even compare at how delicately rich the meal was. The eggplant was smothered in sauce and the chicken(!!). Usually I'm a beef girl, but the chicken is cooked to its perfect tenderness. I know, this is a lot of admiration for a fast food chain. But trust me, Peking Taste's food is just as good as any fancy Chinese restaurant if not even better. Overall, good decent sized portions, good tasting food, and good price point, make this my favorite spot for Chinese takeout on the island. Have been eating here for years. Since the place was sold a few years back, the food has gotten better and better. Always clean, delivery ' always on time and food is plentiful. Love the spare ribs, soups, sautéed tofu w/Chinese vegetable in garlic sauce. Ownership is always polite and friendly and willing to make sure you leave happy. I have probably ordered food from here at least 1-2 times per month for years. It's very convenient, I order from my cell phone while on the express and pick it up on my way home. Yesterday I ordered the food, arrived a little early, and when she told me the total I thought she said "$23.26, and I gave her my credit card. Once she printed out the receipt I saw it said $43.46. I told her this must not be mine, my order couldn't be that much. She prints out the receipt which I see includes 2 Crab Rangoon. I told her I didn't order that. She argues with me that I did. I told her I ordered 2 egg rolls, and that I don't even eat seafood - and we have an allergy in my house. I told her I didn't want it. She told me I had to take it because it was already done and that it's cheese, not seafood (why is it called CRAB Rangoon??). We went back and forth arguing and I just gave up. I even offered to pay $11.90 for 2 egg rolls instead but she would not give it to me. I cannot believe the horrible customer service over $11.90! I will never go here again just on principle. Peking taste is in the middle of a plaza so it can be hard to find especially since it's mostly just a kitchen, counter and 2 tables. It's not welcoming looking and you wouldn't want to eat in there but the food is very good for Asian takeout. It's much better than any other Asian in the area defiantly better then Oriental Plaza. The Buddhist delight and the Pad Thai are what I get usually. It's a bit cheaper then other places near here too. If you get delivery, have your money in hand the minute you hang up the phone because they come so so so fast. It seems impossibly fast. read more

I order lunch here at work occasionally and it's always been very good. First things first- they deliver quickly and for some reason that's tough to find in that area in my experience. They have very reasonable lunch specials. The food is always fresh. They also make a shrimp wonton soup, which is very good. While they've always excelled in prompt deliveries with fresh food, they rip off their customers by adding an excessive amount of broccoli and vegetables with minute pieces of meat. I ordered a small chicken with broccoli for $6.75. I received a small decent-sized container with five pieces of chicken and 20 pieces of broccoli. After they forgot another item from my order, I had to go to the restaurant to return the chicken & broccoli completely. Also, they still use styrofoam for their lunch specials. They stated customers have to request plastic if they don't want styrofoam. I don't know about you, but I don't feel like eating hot food out of a toxic container that's overwhelmed with a burnt plastic chemical smell. read more

I've loved this Peking Taste for 20 years, particularly the beef lo mein. Oh it was so good, so head and shoulders above the standard take-out fare. Tender large pieces of beef, crispy water chestnuts, stir fried in a delicious, greasy sauce. Then, this Peking Taste came under NEW MANAGEMENT. Now the lo mein is garbage and more expensive without the free side of rice. Little rubbery strings of beef, doused in cheap soy sauce, no more water chestnuts. Basically, like every crappy, hole-in-the wall take-out place. Nostalgia is not strong enough for me to not retch at the thought of it. Do avoid at all costs. I would be happy to take this post down if they let me know they've returned to the old recipe. read more

I have been going here for a long time for a good selection of choices. I think it is under new management now and they have a new menu also-with some new stuff like Thai food specials. I like a traditional place that serves traditional - the ususals. Once the new things come into play you have to be experimental. It is still always busy. I like the pictures of the food at the counter- it helps you decide what you want to have. The lo mein has a lot of less ingredients and the pork tastes different. It has a good seating area if you want to eat there. Take out is a little slow, but maybe I was there on a busy night. read more

I have not had much luck finding great Chinese food around here. But I think this place is really good. The usual stuff I order is always good. Last night I tried the pineapple chicken and it was delicious! I love their fried rice, it's actually brown, not yellow like a lot of other Chinese take out places around here, and I hate yellow colored fried rice! The pineapple fried rice could use more pineapple but its still really good! Until something better comes along, this will be my go-to place. read more
