I have been coming here for years and don't know if there's a change of ownership but You serve hot meals with no AC?!?! Outside is cooler than inside the restaurant!! I hadn't been to Pho May in a long time but I don't know the reason for my hiatus. Returning to Pho May reminded me of the delicious, authentic flavors and reasonable prices. I say reasonable bc they aren't cheap, but their flavor profiles support their pricing. We got an assortment of plates and each one of them were delicious. The staff was so attentive and managed to keep up with my toddler's demand of new utensil between chopsticks, forks, and spoons. They were so kind and patient. I like the wooden benches, I almost feel like I'm traveling to a hidden spot instead of being a few minutes from a main freeway. I would like to say I'll be adventurous and try more things on their menu but they've called my heart with their classic dishes and I know what I'll come for every single time. One little thing that made Pho May stand out from other pho places is that they provided a sides/condiments plate per person. Decided to have Vietnamese food for lunch so checked into one of my favorite restaurants, Pho May, located in Hawaiian Gardens, California. Anita, our regular server greeted us with a lovely smile and sat down at our regular table. . She is always so kind and helpful and generous. As always, the restaurant is clean And they have background music playing. This time we tried their tofu, spring rolls. My wife and I loved them, the tofu is fried and wrapped in a spring roll and is stuffed with noodles, basil, diced cucumbers and lettuce. We chose the sweet-and-sour sauce rather than the peanut sauce. Oh what a treat! Recommend this restaurant and giving it five stars !! read more

I haven't been here in so long, and because the weathers been cold and rainy lately...it was the perfect time to do so. The Pho is good and affordable and all their options from their apps to their rice dishes are just as good. I will say tho, I was unlucky to get seated away from counter view and staff view right in front of the window entrances, so that lead to not being attended to or no one to grab attention for service. We were kind of just stuck waiting until they came around the corner or we went out looking for them. Pho May is one of my go-to pho places in the area. Their food consistently meets my pho standards. I got the Combo pho and my bf got one with Rare Steak and Brisket. Both of our bowls were packed with meat and noodles. I always appreciate how their pho is such a great value for the size. We also got their egg rolls which are always fresh. They are so good! They have a great crunch and good amount of filling. Our servers were great and attentive to our table. Pho May is pretty warm inside, really nice for a dinner though. Now to why I gave them a 4 star. Our table had noodles on our seats and on the table. It was on the edge of the table and got it all on the back of my legs. I'm not sure if there was someone who picked their noodles off our what but they were getting stuck on my velour tracksuit. It was really gross getting them off of me. Edit: Editing to add that upon seeing our receipt it says I ordered "#48 Stir Fried rice noodle (Pad Thai). This is NOT what I ordered but appears to be what they brought me, despite pointing to #46 on the menu while ordering and when we were asking what happened to the veggies. Accuracy is important! I was wanting something fresh and healthy for dinner. The online photos looked very good so we headed to Pho May. The good - friendly service and seating from Manuel. Also, the fried green bean appetizer was phenomenal and came out fast and hot. The booths are very large but... (see below) Not great - husband's shrimp fried rice was just the shrimp and rice. The tase was OK, but no veggies, no sprinkles of green onion (which was in the photo), no sprinkles of cilantro, nothing. The bad - I ordered based on the other photos I saw, including the one on THEIR OWN website and menu. I've posted photos below, a couple from other Yelp reviewers, and I'll let you guess which one was mine. (The leftovers, I split with my husband and ate it because I was hungry.) It wasn't terrible, but where are all the fresh veggies, where's the color?? Produce is inexpensive so I don't know why they would not prepare the dish as it's represented in their own photos. We called a nearby waiter, pointed at #46 on the menu and asked "where are the vegetables" and the person said "it's cilantro" and brought us a bowl of washed cilantro. Okaaaayyyyy.... Without the veggies, the food was heavy and sticky. Also the benches at the booths have zero cushion. We weren't there long but sitting was still very uncomfortable. Based on this visit, we will not return nor would recommend to anyone. I usually write nothing but stellar reviews and normally say nothing if the experience was bad. 01/07/24 First time here and wow. This place is so good, the aroma stayed in my hair and clothes until the next day lol. For starters, we ordered the #8 Fried Egg Rolls-Ground Pork, egg paper, taro, wood ear mushrooms, onions, noodle. Fried to perfection. It wasn't too soft and chewy like some eggrolls but not too hard where it just falls apart. The crunch was magnificent. Next, we ordered the #2 Chicken Wings in Fish Sauce. Again, fried to perfection. If you've seen my rave review on Phoung Trang's garlic chicken wings, well these wings are runner up. So flavorful, juicy and delicious! Next up was the #7 Shrimp Spring Rolls. I'm not a big fan of spring rolls but these were good. The peanut dipping sauce was made it for me. So good. My husband ordered #28 Seafood Pho. Two of my friends and I ate here on a brisk Saturday night and we were craving some warm authentic pho. The restaurant wasn't super busy yet at 8PM, so we were immediately seated (Although it got busier at 8pm when more groups and families came to eat here for dinner). I am fond of their ambiance with dimmed lights that matched their tall booth seats and their black bowls and plates. Their menu is only viewable by scanning a QR code printed on a paper with a sheet protector sleeve. When we were ready to order, we called one of the waiters and they kindly took our orders. I ordered their Veggie Pho (with Vegetarian broth). Our orders were ready within 10-15 minutes and I was truly impressed with the staff's promptness and food presentation. On the first sip, the vegetarian pho was truly flavor packed with a variety of crisp vegetable, diced tofu and natural umami flavor. I tried other pho places that serve vegetarian pho and so far, Pho May is my favorite place serving it uniquely in Hawaiian Gardens. I kinda wish the noodles were not cut short, but it's no biggie. The chopped green onion added more flavor and texture to the pho itself. According to my friend who ordered the Beef Combination Pho, it was flavorful, therapeutic and felt relieved after eating most of it. She couldn't finish her order, so she decided to make it to-go. Payment at the end was easy since the waiters have a card reader were you automatically choose your preferred tip without having to use a pen/pencil and calculate it yourself. We were finished within an hour and Pho May Hawaiian Gardens is now one of my favorite authentic Pho spots in the area. read more

We've been going to this place for years all the way from Santa Ana just for the Seafood Pho. We just found out today that the Seafood Pho has been discontinued. This is literally a big disappointment. We have referred so many friends and family just alone for the Seafood Pho. We will need to find a new place that serves our Seafood Pho! But after searching around at 1030pm for a Pho place recently...Pho May was the only one open super late and close by so I gave it a second chance. This place has been here forever!!!! BUT was I surprised to find that they finally gave themselves a facelift. Although I didn't see tripe (my fave) in any of their items, the food was still pretty decent. Good size portions in comparison to all the shrink-flation going around. But we could have definitely used more meat. Maybe have to order an extra side dish. We ordered the shrimp spring rolls too and it was okay. The peanut sauce seems watery and lacked nutty flavor, but you could add some siracha to give it a kick. I love basil too and they weren't very generous on that but I'm sure I could have gotten more if I asked. For me, IMHO they gave just the right amount of bean sprouts. Other places overload and I feel so bad when it goes to waste. In the end...I'd go back. read more

We went after a concert, I was craving Ramen, and luckily this location was open late. They are always super fast. And I love that you can pay your receipt through your phone online. The food was very good. Hit the spot. This was my first time trying their pad Thai, it taste a little bit more of like Tom Yum soup, because of the lemon grass. The noodles were a little soggy. But I still liked it. The flavor was good. I really liked also their fried eggrolls., I would get again. And they're just tasted very fresh like the broth was made not that long ago. Perfect spot with large amount of options to eat. This, along its ample seating and parking, allows it to compliment and serve any size of party. Its furnishing and lighting certainly allow it to shine in its local area. Unfortunately, the Pho was very lackluster and reminded me more of a heavy ramen broth than Pho. There are notes that are missing here that are essential for any Pho. A pho should be delicious and savory on it's own without the need for hosin or siracha. The service was quick and friendly, and they certainly deserve more stars for their effort. However, it will be sometime before I give this spot another shot. read more
