Eye Round Steak & Brisket Pho

I give this place 4.5 star for food *only*. its a very small shop with 5 seats so mostly take out, nothing much to review about the inside. The pho was flavorful, had good broth and the accompaniment. I had the P6 with round steak and brisket, it was quite tender and tasty. I wish the pho is made with the wider noodles and not the thin flat ones that most VN restaurants use in the US. Pork belly Banh mi was nice and crispy with flavorful filling. Flavors blend together nicely. As a Vietnamese, I approve this place and would come back! The staff who worked on a Monday provided swift and good service.

Came back here for some pho as it was close by. I have to say that the quality has deteriorated from what I once remembered it to be, although I knew it wasn't authentic in the first place. However, it's still affordable as it doesn't seem like they raised the prices that much. Yay to fighting inflation!

Came here in desperate need of a banh mi and was not disappointed. The seating is modest, but there are 4 seats against the window if you need to eat inside. The food came out after just a few minutes. Pork Banh Mi - Simply plated on a nice, bright patterned plate, the sandwich is remarkably picturesque. And it was even more delicious than it looked. The marinated pork provided plenty of juices to cascade throughout the sandwich and fill every bite with flavor. The veggies and jalapeños were fresh and plentiful. At $10, you get a sizable sandwich at an affordable price, so I'm a big fan of these. Crispy Spring Rolls - Tasty but on the small side, these are good. Not exactly a great bang for your buck, but a good appetizer nonetheless. Value: 4/5 Quality: 5/5 Quantity: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 3/5

Great spring rolls and shrimp bahn mi! Only four seats at the window ledge inside, so not the spot to plan ahead for but we got lucky to sit and enjoy our food here.

Ummmm wtf? I've had better noodles in prison. My friend and I were in the mood for Pho in our neighborhood. I found this place looking for something close. We walked into this Pho restaurant with Spanish music playing. As we looked over the menu we saw one side of the menu was Vietnamese and the other side of the menu was ALL Mexican food (tacos, nachos, quesadillas, tortas, burritos). The Pho they served us was not good at all, it wasn't even hot when they served it to us. It was fatty cheesesteak meat, with dollar store packs of noodles in basic chicken stock. Our Pho was lacking all the good stuff, no bean sprouts, Thai basil, limes, jalapeños, and green onions. They horribly chopped up the cilantro, skimped on the onions and gave us regular basil. I had to ask for limes and jalapeños... The condiments they had on the side to put in your Pho was sad. A tobasco "sriracha" sauce and some watered down brown sauce in a re-used tobasco bottle. I like supporting local however we will not be back. This is not REAL pho!

This place seems to more of a takeout spot, but they do have a few seats at the counter if you're looking for a quick bite. Had the eye round steak pho (pho tai) and even though it wasn't exactly a traditional presentation, the broth was pretty tasty and the beef was nice and rare. Well sized portion with a good helping of noodles overall. It may be that this isn't the kind of place to do it, but I would've liked to have some of the standard toppings available on the side e.g., bean sprouts, sliced jalapeños, etc but I made do with the basic preparation as it came. I'd definitely come back here if I was in a pinch on time or was on a lunch break, or just wanted some tasty, easy food.

Finally decided to grab some lunch downtown and I was craving some Pho. Pho Mi is a half Mexican Half Vietnamese spot so pretty much offers the best of both worlds. Very small spot so I'd suggest take out but there are a few spots on the counter too for those who want to enjoy some people watching. Pho was pretty good to me. Tender meat, rich broth, and a very large portion. Next time I'll have to try the Banh Mi

Great little Business with a few tables inside (but small enough that take out is best!) Tried the shrimp bun. Great fresh ingredients and the shrimp was cooked perfectly! Overall enjoyed my meal very much - a good balance of health and taste! I wish they had more appetizer options. I ordered on grubHub for pickup and the food was ready earlier than expected. Pricey fir the food, but not for the area. Will be back!

This hole in a wall is quite a gem! I was afraid that we wouldn't find seating in this tiny location, but to my surprise, people circled in and out and we were able to find seating by the window. The pho is absolutely delightful with perfect medium rare brisket. The broth was flavorful and rich -- something you wouldn't expect. I also loved the fried tofu bowl. Full of flavor and scalding hot tofu to quench any appetite!

But they have since sold and under new management. Decades later I feel the urge to revisit and it's smaller than I remember. I'll chalk it up to being a small kid memory. The decor is indeed dated and needing a lot of tlc. I heard the food was still good so what the heck let's give it a try. The new owners/workers are definitely not Vietnamese. The menu is huge and included a lot of non Vietnamese dishes. We ordered 2 bowls of noodles and they are huge portions. At first glance they are a watery bowl of rice noodles. I was not impressed. But upon my first sip of the soup I was pleasantly surprised. All that flavor was still there. (They must've also inherited the recipes from the previous owners) Although the quality of meat and veggies were not cooked with the broth they still managed to maintain the flavors so I'm impressed. The beef was tough and blocky so were the carrots. I couldn't finish my portion so I took it home and to my mistake the noodles did not travel well. They became a mushy mess. So I'm very torn. I very much enjoyed all the flavors but the quality was a bit disappointing.

The inside is cute & modern with a decent amount of seating and big windows that bring in a lot of natural light. We ordered the pate chaud and summer rolls to start. The pate chaud is a dish that we haven't tried before. It felt a little small for $11 (basically the size of a pop tart) but the flavor was delicious. The puff pastry outside was buttery and soft while the inside was very savory and meaty. I would've love this even more if the puff pastry was crispy. Summer rolls were some of the better ones I've had. The roll was packed really well. Dense, tightly rolled, good meat to noodle to veggie ratio. Nothing worse than a limp floppy summer roll with bad ratio distribution. I would definitely get another order of these! Pho itself was pricey. But kinda par for the course considering the area. Broth was light but not in a bad way. Typically I prefer a slightly more flavorful fatty broth but this still hit the spot. Meat and noodle portions were generous and noodle texture was perfect.

The biggest surprise was the tái (eye-round steak), yet still retaining that pleasantly chewy texture of undercooked beef; the gầu (fat brisket) was thick and crisp, fragrant but not greasy--who would have thought I'd find brisket fat here? This showed the restaurant's precise control over the broth temperature and the thickness of the beef. Almost all phở restaurants claim to offer authentic raw beef or various cuts of beef, but very few can truly make customers feel the difference. The restaurant's decor is simple but spacious and clean; the service is average, but very efficient. Efficiency is essential for phở, otherwise the beef would be overcooked in the hot broth. After all, the essence of a restaurant is food, and for such affordable ones, it's gratifying to see them spend most of their costs on the food itself.
