Was in Philly and craving some vietnamese fried chicken and rice nommmm nommmmm So Pho Duyen came up on my search and it didnt disappoint... Was surprised this little hole in the wall place hidden in a residential area that has max seating for 22 people .. Seems like I got there for a late which is a good thing cause they wouldve been really busy ... So ordered the fried chicken dish which is what they are known for and an iced coffee. I have to say it was pretty tasty.. chicken was cooked to perfection and wasnt dry.. the side soup was a nice touch ... pro tip.. add some of the chili that they have on the table in the small container to your rice and mix it up. Hole in the wall restaurant. Has limited seating (13). It is first come first serve. The wait for food was lengthy. But worth the wait. While waiting we were serve hot tea. The first ordered that arrived House fried chicken with broth on the side. This chicken was one of the best chicken and rice combo I have ever tasted and side broth was steaming out. I had the special Beef Pho. It arrived steaming hot, which Is a priority for me. Very tasteful and would order again. I highly suggest this restaurant. Food is excellent. read more

Friendly staffs and delicious food. Place is small and bathroom is clean. I ordered bun bo hue-bbh and pho dac biet. Both were $15. Paid in cash. Wait time was around 22 minutes. A lot of customers were Vietnamese and they played soap opera on the TV. Bbh was amazing. Broth was full of depth and it had pork blood in it and tendons. So good. The pho was good too but bbh was better. If I have to rank the bbh of Philly, cafe Diem is my favorite, pho duyen comes in second and 3rd place cafe nhan. read more

This place answers their phone like you called the wrong number And then once you verify you indeed dialed correctly, take your order and hang up abruptly before you can ask questions about cost, when it's ready etc A night mare in this era where most of these interactions are avoided with Doordash etc But the benefit is the food is way cheaper without the damn fees And the food here is worth it! If you can brave the phone call. Or dine in. It's a small space, a bit humid feeling inside. But the people are super friendly when not on the phone! I do not know how long take out is, but it's definitely before the 15-20min drive it takes for me to get there after calling. Pretty quick. I like the food! Worth the trek. The bun bo hue is the best I've had in the city and yes I tried all the other supposed places you read online, they all taste sweet and not spicy enough and often don't include blood, but this one ticks all the boxes. They do fresh chicken in the pho Ga and it's well cooked, bun rieu is super savory All 3 of my favorite viet noodle soups are stellar here The house chicken ate a bit dry for me but it was flavorful What I'm interested in most is the catering options on their website... The portions and price are for a large party but the menu sounds delicious and includes items outside of standard viet restaurant dishes. Maybe we'll have to throw a party and report back. read more

I'm a fan of the bun bo hue here. It was nice and flavorful, with a good kick of spice. The portion size was a bit big but it kept me full for some time. I also got to try the pho ga and the broth was fantastic. Service was pretty quick during lunch time on the weekday. It's a small cozy spot so it's great for a quick meal. read more

Always down to try new pho spots and I quite enjoyed this one. We started, as we often do, with the spring rolls. These were pretty nice: a good amount of filling and substantial size. The sauce wasn't as peanuty as I am used to but I didn't terribly mind that. We got two dishes: bun rieu and hu tieu. The former was one I was not familiar with, a minced crab noodle soup. I was really pleased with this in the end. I added the shrimp paste they offered, which I am glad I did very sparingly as I didn't realize how fishy/salty this could make it. Added some of the chili oil and the other traditional toppings and ultimately found the noodles to be so smooth with the Vietnamese ham, minced meat, and pork knuckle well done. The latter, the hu tieu, was pho I am more used to with a nice clean base and a mixture of meat. We aren't so fond of organ meat so I avoided these slices. I appreciated the addition of a quail egg, however. Overall a good meal. read more

I was really blown away by this unassuming place. Pho Duyen is one of the best no frills authentic Vietnamese restaurants in the area. I love the fact that the menu is small which allows them to put more focus and care into each item. My family and I had the bun rieu, bun bo Hue and house fried chicken and everything was excellent. The ingredients were fresh and the soup broths had a good depth of flavor and so well balanced, not ladened with msg or other artificial seasoning. Each bowl of noodle soup came with a generous portion of toppings and a side of fresh vegetables. My husband said the bun rieu tasted like my mom's (our fav) and I would have to agree that it is very similar. The bun bo Hue had a bit of a kick but not too spicy and the broth was so comforting. Even the cha lua (Vietnamese pork roll/ham) in there was delicious and I usually don't even like cha lua! Also, we generally do not sip on the broth at any other restaurant but we almost finished our bowls at Pho Duyen. Lastly, the fried chicken with rice came with a side of fried rice, sweet pickled dikon radish and a small soup. The chicken skin was well seasoned, crispy and addicting. I really hope this small local restaurant thrives and can continue to serve this caliber of food. I cannot recommend this place enough. A must try if you love Vietnamese food! read more

Cute, small family owned Vietnamese restaurant. Very limited menu but most mom and pop places are like that. They make what they are best at and that's it lol. Service was friendly, they do speak English. It's rare to find the rice porridge with offal (pork intestines, liver, etc) and this was a solid offering, the bun Bo hue was recommended by the staff and was excellent! One of the most Viet food I've ever had in philly, Com Ga Soi Mo was super delicious and reminded me of vietnam, they also serve Mangrove Tea which is super unique and delicious. 10/10 would recommend, and I can't wait to try out their food catering. read more

Small little Vietnamese restaurant that serves a few traditional items on their menu. I ordered the Bun Rieu which wasn't bad. I wasn't a huge fan of the meatballs as I found it to be all pork and no crab at all. The chicken and rice dish was tasty. There were bits and pieces of garlic cooked into the rice which made it very flavorful. The only downside to the restaurant was the AC. We went on a hot day and it seems like the AC unit wasn't strong enough to cool the place at all. We were all pretty sweaty after eating. Service was good. I believe there was only 1 person doing it all but it's small enough that they didn't need many servers. read more

I've been waiting for this place to thoroughly be open but everytime I wanted to go it was closed. I think this was prior to it actually being open and I couldn't locate them on google even though I live a block up. They are closed on Mondays so maybe everytime I wanted to go they were closed lol. However, the place is very cute and small but spacious. The pho was so good I never ever eat an entire pho but the broth was so good and everything was FRESH. Small Family Owned Business with a very friendly atmosphere! This was the first time I've ever tried Pho (I ended up trying the Special Beef Pho) and it was so delicious. On top of that the portion was great, I ate enough to where I was full but still was able to save leftovers. It tasted very fresh and only took them about 15 to have it ready.
