    1. Pho Nation Combo #1

We were excited to see another Vietnamese restaurant pop up in the neighborhood. Pho Nation took over the spot that Cam Hong used to occupy. Inside has been modestly renovated. I like the two TVs they put in that are constantly showing videos of Vietnamese street food. The food: B 03 Grilled Pork Banh Mi - sandwich perfection - light, fresh, crispy bread. A ton of tender, wonderfully marinated pork. Possibly the best Banh Mi I have ever eaten. 01 Pho Nation Combo 1 - Large - this might be more expensive than your average bowl of pho, but it is quite large. I liked the broth flavor and there was plenty of meat. Very happy with the pho here. S 01 Lemongrass Spicy Beef Noodle Soup - Bun Bo Hue - similar comments as above for size and amount of meat. We liked the flavor of this one as well and it's about a medium spice level. 20 Combo Rice Plate - we liked some of the individual components of this dish - two pieces of fried chicken (drum and a flat), a very crispy egg roll, and a thin, but flavorful pork chop. Just didn't like this as much as the other dishes. Rice was also quite a bit drier than expectation. Very happy Pho Nation has come to the neighborhood. Highly recommend their noodle soups and Banh Mi!

Combination Vietnamese sandwich. It was delicious!

I regularly drive by this place but only recently decided to stop in. This place has great food! Everything is so fresh and the portions are huge. I was amazed at how big the large pho was compared to the medium. But the medium size is large enough to be what I consider a large. We got Vietnamese sandwiches, the combo and the marinated beef. Both were delicious! The pho was wonderful too, with very fresh ingredients and homemade broth. The service is great and the owners are very very nice people. I told them I liked a lot of the pickled vegetables in my Vietnamese sandwiches, and they generously gave me extra in a Ziploc to take home! I'm definitely coming back and would like to try the other things on the menu.

1 Large 1. Pho Nation Combo #1 ( I was not able to finish the whole bowl, it's definitely worth what you pay for )

I have passed this place over so many times & decided to finally try this restaurant. It did not disappoint. The broth is amazing with so much flavor, Once you take a sip of that broth you will definitely be coming back. I'd hate to ditch my to go to's because this place just gained a new costumer. Service is great the lady that serve me was kind enough to check on me and refill my water. Ambiance - the back porch can do some work other than that you'll forget all of that once you try their menu. Overall this place gets a 5 stars don't sleep on Pho Nation. I will PHO SHO come back.

Unassuming Pho spot in El Sobrante. New ownership from previous restaurant at this location. Typical assortment of Vietnamese dishes. Regular size pho is fairly large. Good parking situation and about 6 tables indoors and some outdoor seating. According to the window, open 7 days/week. Pho combo 1 is a solid Dac Biet. Good broth. Grilled Pork Banh Mi is solid as well. Slightly crunchy bread but overall soft mouthfeel. Pork flavored well. I added pate to mine. Overall good spot to have.

This place has changed hands a few times recently and I can honestly say the current rendition is a must! They have remodeled and looks really good. The food is delicious and the rice plates are hefty portions. Staff is great too. A real nice neighborhood restaurant!

    Spring rolls were great.

New favorite banh mi spot in the area. Nicely toasted yet still soft bread, good pickles, generous portions.

A true hidden gem right at the bottom of Solano Ave in Albany!…read more I'm embarrassed to admit that Picnic has been around for about 5 years in the east bay and I've just tried it for the first time this week. But I'm so glad I was finally introduced to it. The staff greet you promptly when you enter and you can even watch them work effortlessly together in the open prep-station behind the counter. They have a gorgeous display of deli items, wines, cheeses, cold sides, and even some cute candles & house made croutons. They've got everything you would need for an elevated picnic or even a barbecue with the family. They have an intriguing selection of house made sausages-- the Chicken Tikka Masala sausage caught my eye and I can't wait to try it. They also sell whole smoked quail that are seasoned heavily yet each bite has just the right amount of smokiness, spices, and salt. Their hot food items and sandwiches are perfect for a quick lunch during your break from work or on your way home. There are also a few counter seats if you want to enjoy your meal there. So far I've tried the smoked quail, the Muffaletta sandwich, and their green lentil soup with chicken + veg. The sandwich was filled to the brim and each bite was a flavor bomb. The lentil soup was very comforting & paired well with the smoked quail. I'm looking forward to trying everything they have to offer.

I really wanted to love this place. Very small and quirky, limited menu. I'm not really a "salad is…read morea meal" person, although my two best friends are. They were very happy with their arugula salads. I ordered the mac n cheese which was okay. Even though I grew up in El Cerrito, I sometimes feel like my NorCal green card has expired. I've lost touch with my small batch, organic self. (Although I have never liked arugula) This store is adorable and just the kind of independent neighborhood place that should be frequented and appreciated. Unfortunately I also had to use the bathroom and they don't have one for customers. So they recommended walking a block away to the BevMo. So I guess that added some negative feelings.

Located inside Young's Market. There was no wait when I went…read more I ordered 3 sandwiches: Reuben Pastrami, Smoked Turkey, and Smoked Salmon. My total was $52. I only ate the Smoked Salmon, so I can only review that one. I enjoyed it! There was a lot of smoked salmon (dare I say too much?) and it tasted of... smoked salmon. The sandwich was filling because of how much salmon there was. The bread was kind of thin and falling apart so it was a little messy to eat. The sandwich would have been better with hardier slices of bread and more evenly spread salmon. I heard good reviews about the other sandwiches. I purchased drinks from Young's while my sandwiches were being made. Parking was surprisingly easy (Sunday at 11am).

That is, until recently, when I noticed there was a pile of rotisserie chickens on the counter. I believe it was Larry, the personable butcher, who helped me pick out the most succulent one. He runs the counter completely separate from the rest of the market. That has become more noticeable recently as Young's appears to be going through an ownership change. His meat selection is consistently top quality, and the robust salad and sandwich menu is enticing. But for now, just give me the cluck, a whole one for $10.50 and enough to last for three days (photo: https://bit.ly/3mTCTM2), along with the Red Bliss Potato Salad at $4.50 per pound (photo: https://bit.ly/3mSOI56).
