I got together with my former manager to catch up and enjoy a meal. She lives north of me, so we settled on a halfway point. I recommended we grab pho but with the initial pick being closed, we pivoted to Pho Nation! When we came for dinner, it was quiet. We were one of the only customers but a few diners were coming in and out for takeout. The restaurant is super casual with not much decor or detail to it. The service was just okay and a bit confusing. For those dining in, they give you a menu and you order with them but everything else you need to go to the counter for (pay, water, any requests). We also weren't checked on during our meal. For food, I had the Regular Chicken Breast Pho. Even being a regular, it was a massive portion that I took home! The broth was good but I was never given a spoon. The noodles were on the smaller end as if they were cut. When I received my bowl the noodles were all compact so my theory is they just dumped it in there and assumed the broth would break it up. The chicken was tender. Everything else was on the table such as utensils, sauce, and garnishes. My old manager said her dish was great! I can understand this might be a fave pho place for residents in the area but I'm not sure if I'd willingly go back. It was great to try and the food was good. The restaurant is off San Pablo Dam Road with a giant private parking lot outside. read more

This used to be a Taco Bell. Three of us came here for lunch today and we all wanted to try their sandwiches. Both my companions got pork sandwiches. My friend decided to get extra meat and that was an extra $4. They also gave her double the vegetables for an additional $4 and extra meat as well. Her Thai iced tea was quite expensive for $6. Usually restaurants charge about $4 for Thai iced tea. I got their tofu sandwich which was full of tofu and not enough vegetables. I personally would have prefer more vegetables and less tofu. I did not like their tofu because it is a pre-fried tofu which is probably sold at Ranch 99 and from overseas. That kind of tofu has a non- creamy and somewhat tough texture. It's a bit dry even though they braise it. I prefer non-fried tofu that is slightly sauteed maintaining the creamy tofu texture. This was overly processed tofu. I will not order their tofu sandwich again. I would like to try their chicken sandwich next time and hope that they give me more vegetables. It will be nice to try some of their noodle soups which everyone else was ordering except for our table. The service was pretty quick. Their bathroom had no amenities like toilet paper. I will come back but don't know when. read more

Good grinds as they say in the Islands. Thank god this place opened - they have another store but this one is a godsend. There isn't much out in El Sobrante. This place is right on the corner of Appian and San Pablo Dam Road one driveway BEFORE the Jack in the Box. Great prices, great stock (soup) and good quantity. I've tried the vermicelli dishes (grilled pork, grilled chicken) and the combo Banh Mi. Will be trying the Pho once the temps drop a bit. Service is great. Parking is easy. Go here, when you get that urge and San Pablo Avenue in Richmond is too far. read more

We were excited to see another Vietnamese restaurant pop up in the neighborhood. Pho Nation took over the spot that Cam Hong used to occupy. Inside has been modestly renovated. I like the two TVs they put in that are constantly showing videos of Vietnamese street food. The food: B 03 Grilled Pork Banh Mi - sandwich perfection - light, fresh, crispy bread. A ton of tender, wonderfully marinated pork. Possibly the best Banh Mi I have ever eaten. 01 Pho Nation Combo 1 - Large - this might be more expensive than your average bowl of pho, but it is quite large. I liked the broth flavor and there was plenty of meat. Very happy with the pho here. S 01 Lemongrass Spicy Beef Noodle Soup - Bun Bo Hue - similar comments as above for size and amount of meat. We liked the flavor of this one as well and it's about a medium spice level. 20 Combo Rice Plate - we liked some of the individual components of this dish - two pieces of fried chicken (drum and a flat), a very crispy egg roll, and a thin, but flavorful pork chop. Just didn't like this as much as the other dishes. Rice was also quite a bit drier than expectation. Very happy Pho Nation has come to the neighborhood. I regularly drive by this place but only recently decided to stop in. This place has great food! Everything is so fresh and the portions are huge. I was amazed at how big the large pho was compared to the medium. But the medium size is large enough to be what I consider a large. We got Vietnamese sandwiches, the combo and the marinated beef. Both were delicious! The pho was wonderful too, with very fresh ingredients and homemade broth. The service is great and the owners are very very nice people. I told them I liked a lot of the pickled vegetables in my Vietnamese sandwiches, and they generously gave me extra in a Ziploc to take home! I'm definitely coming back and would like to try the other things on the menu. read more

The broth is amazing with so much flavor, Once you take a sip of that broth you will definitely be coming back. I'd hate to ditch my to go to's because this place just gained a new costumer. Service is great the lady that serve me was kind enough to check on me and refill my water. Come for the food and you will be glad you did! My husband and I don't eat a lot of meat so we tried the tofu ban mi sandwiches. Literally OMG so good - the ingredients work together in a symphony of flavors! The roll is exactly what you want for a ban mi, light and crispy and warm. The marinade is not overpowering. Just the right balance of heat, fresh and pickled. They generously provide complimentary ice water and iced green tea. The service is friendly. The ambiance could use some work but the food is totally worth it!! We intend to become regulars here even though it's a bit out of the way. read more

The pho is really tasty. This was my first time here. Even though I used to come to this establishment when it was a different restaurant. The previous restaurant pho was so so. But their vermicelli plates were very good, and their fried chicken wings were super amazing. So this restaurant will have some fried wings that they have to live up to lol. But the ambience is nice, and the people are very nice. I actually wound up leaving my hat there, and I came back a few days later and they had it for me wrapped in a bag so I wouldn't get dirty. Good parking situation and about 6 tables indoors and some outdoor seating. According to the window, open 7 days/week. Pho combo 1 is a solid Dac Biet. Good broth. Grilled Pork Banh Mi is solid as well. Slightly crunchy bread but overall soft mouthfeel. Pork flavored well. I added pate to mine. Overall good spot to have. read more

I wonder if the owners of the old Cam Huong restaurant have influence on the food served here because the food is just as delicious as theirs was and the interior is the same as it was then too. The only difference that I can see is the menu. It's smaller than Cam's was and a let less drinks. But all in all the food is great, the service is fast and friendly and they're on door dash for when we want to eat at home! read more

Ordered takeout to give this new pho place a shot and was pleasantly surprised. Portions were very generous on my Pho #2 and grilled pork (thit nuong) rice plate. Grilled pork was nicely marinated, tender and juicy. Beef quality in the pho was top notch, very fresh and well cooked, especially the brisket. In town for a week for a training and wanted Pho! Didn't see many reviews but pictures looked good. I had Pho combo 1 which was much bigger in person than I expected. The pho was good. The highlight was definitely the fresh spring rolls with the peanut sauce. Every bite had a piece of shrimp. I also got the deep fried shrimp which was good as well. The service was really good. Pho nation. Is actually pretty good. Big bowls, very tasty broth. Usually I put in all the fixings (siracha,hoisin) but I ate it plan, that's how good the broth was. I ordered two banh mis, the short rib and the bbq pork. The bread is perfection! Light crispy outside and tender inside so each mouthful isn't hard to bite into. Both were very tender and tasty. However, why does the short rib one still have the bones, in a sandwich?!? I've never had any meat sandwich, (chicken, beef or pork) anywhere, where the bone was still attached to the meat! I been going to this location for years even before new ownership so you know I had to come check it out once opened up. The food is very good, I only have one complaint on my last time here I ordered to go and assuming order has all items I didn't check the bag entirely.
