I was recommended by a friend to come here for savory Banh bao ( Vietnamese steamed pork bun). I just ordered Togo, but its a very cute tea/coffee shop with a few tables that you can sit down. They also serve salted egg cake, sweet bun, banh mi and Vietnamese sweet desserts like Che Khuc Banh, Che Ba Mau, Sua Bap, etc. I liked the Banh Bao here - filling was flavorful and the bun was soft and light. I came here for a quick lunch with a friend because we were craving banh mi and I'd heard about the steamed buns! The steamed bun was divine, with salted egg and ground meat inside. It's not on the menu but instead in their to-go item display. They're cold but if you ask they'll microwave the steamed bun for you! The banh mi was wonderful, with very crisp bread and fresh vegetables. The pork was a bit tough but still carries flavor and all of that alongside the boba made for a huge meal. I wish the food was as good as the look of the place. It's a gorgeous and welcoming restaurant. The person behind the counter was also warm and welcoming. But the boba tea and soup were lacking. The boba didn't have bounce, it was slimy on the outside. I didn't mind the tea because it was tea forward and I prefer that. The crab soup was a big disappointment, no actual crab. Does not have as much as they use to anymore. No grilled oysters. I asked for jasmine tea with the cheese foam and they wouldn't do it for a warm beverage. Their steam clams aren't bad though I've had those before. And the chicken feet can be a hit or miss. Overall inconsistent. read more

It's ridiculous that you call in an order at 6:30 PM and they take the order. You get there at 7 PM and they are closed. They could have said we close early, but that would be to easy! Great little family owned place, try their salted egg yolk roll and durian crepe and you will know what I'm talking about. So far they're have the best durian cake, good pork bun too. I came in here by chance bc my sister wanted boba tea asap and this was the closest choice. The place is in a building complex across Ben Thanh. I've passed it many times and tbh i thought it was a bar at first bc the Y in Yen's is a martini glass lol. But it's actually a really nice cafe! Inside: it's a very clean and fresh interior was lots of table space. It's a good study spot with lots of natural light from the windows, free WiFi (ask the front for the password) and plugs (little sparce on the main side but there's about three in the corner area). So tip, come charged up first. Their blenders don't go off often either so noise isn't an issue. They could weed their sidewalk outside but everything else looks great. Service: there's a guy who works behind the counter often and he's soft-spoken but really nice! He'll help you get settled w water wifi and etc even tho it's not table service. Food/drinks: I so far have tried the milk tea w coffee jelly, suong sa hot e che (3.50) and the banh mi (3.00). The milk tea was really sweet, like an after taste of fruit loops? It's still good but I prefer a more tea based taste. The che was yum and the banh mi was even better. Overall really like the place, just wish there were more outlets for my study habits! I love the Thai tea! It's made from real tea leaves, not powder. The cashier can change the sweetness for you if you ask him/her to do so. They offer Boba, White Boba and Coffee Jelly. I tried the Rice Plate with the Chili Chicken. I rate is 4.5/5. It came with a side salad (iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, daikon)/dressing. The chicken was cooked perfectly but it was a little salty for me (I'm a bit salt sensitive). My friend ordered the Chicken Banh Mi (sandwich). It was a skinny sandwich with less chicken than I normally see with other restaurants. I don't recommend the sandwich. It was $3. I love the interior design. It's a modern look with greenery. I went on a Saturday evening and the cafe was not very packed. There was plenty of space to sit and there was not much noise. I like their banh mi. It's flavorful and consistent compare to most, and this place has become my favorite so far. But i was a little disappointed at how they handled it when i told them there was hair in the bread. There was actually a big clump of hair, and I did not even want compensation. But the way they brushed it off was just like "that's it?" Kinda moment? No apology, just the "oh, it's the ABC bakery who supplied us those, we could give you an empty bread, not the content" i bought the banh mi thit nguoi....so should i dump the content out and get your "new and clean" bread and put it all back in there and continue to eat? I have their cheap Bánh Mì almost every Sunday! They are soooo delicious. The grilled pork and the Nem Nuong are both good. Savory sweet and so much flavor. Perfect crispy baguettes and soft inside.
