First the good: the portions were huge! Neither myself or fellow diner were able to finish and that's unusual for me. Staff was friendly even though it's more of a help yourself place. Place was clean and lively. Unfortunately I didn't love the broth which is the essence of the pho. Just didn't have the depth nor the flavor I'm used to which could totally be subjective. It is great to have even a mediocre pho spot in North Asheville but this is no Wild Ginger. Apparently it is the newest outlet of a small Charlotte-based chain. The interior is bare bones and a hybrid of counter service and waited tables. I tried the pho broth, spring rolls and a rice dish with pork. Mediocre meat, a very sweet broth, and the fried spring rolls were mushy and bland. I suspect on a cold night the pho would be fine. It is early days so they may improve but I suspect they cannot overcome the constraints of being a chain pho place rather than a chefs vision. I suspect it will get added to the lunch and deliver rotation of many an Asian-food starved Ashevillian looking for anything decent. read more

We ordered from the kiosk two entrees- vegetable soup broth with steamed tofu, beef meatballs and brisket pho and appetizer vegetables eggrolls $4 for 2 which was a little disappointing because of the egg roll was a size of my index finger barely have any filling in it. I got the fresh rolls, and they were fresh and delicious, and 3 of them were plenty for a filliing lunch (likely i could just eat two). My mother in law got the fried rice which was a very large serving. I really enjoyed the food, service was great. I will definitely come again read more

What a great experience. I've never eaten Vietnamese food before and it was eye opening for me in a good way. Everything was very light and had many different flavor layers. The noodles were cooked excellent as well as the meat. I tried the pho and it was quite tasty. Also, I ordered the fried rice with beef and it was excellent. My wife had the shrimp salad bowl and enjoyed it. The portions are huge, so you definitely better come with an appetite. I definitely will be coming back! read more

The food was ok. I had the Tofu Bahn Mi. The rolls were French bread rolls. The filling was flavorful, though nothing special. Pho Real is a great new restaurant in North Asheville with both indoor and outdoor seating with stylish decor. The service is excellent and everyone was so friendly. We ordered takeout and everything was ready in under 10 minutes! We got the pho noodle soup with tofu, fried spring rolls, and the fried rice with grilled chicken. Every dish was absolutely delicious. Very unique flavors! You can order yourself on a touch screen or someone can take your order. We'll definitely be back to try more. Highly recommend! read more

They are overpriced! There are too little herbs for pho and bún - we asked for Thai basil and you gave us 3 leaves! If you go to the other pho here on the other side of town they give you a few stalks of Thai basil - and it's cheaper! Also the broth for pho could be better as well. Please make this better. Also please provide the proper chili sauce and sauce for the bún and add Thai basil to your rolls. Also the sauce for the spring rolls was watered down. We want your restaurant to be #1!!! Pho Real is the newest restaurant in my neighborhood. I've had a chance to try a few items on the menu: pho, bahn mi, fried rice, egg rolls, spring rolls. All are very good. They have indoor seating and some outdoor tables. They are in a "strip mall" with its own parking lot. PROS: good food, very nice staff, easy free parking. CONS: this may only be a problem for me, but when you walk in you are meant to place your order on a screen and pay by credit card. (I don't do any kind of self-checkout ever!) The machine is not as intuitive as it could be. The staff doesn't step in automatically when customers are struggling. This to me is a deal breaker. However, on a subsequent visit I was told that if I did not want to use the machine or wanted to pay in cash, there is a register where a person will take your order. Problem solved! Note: I think many people must share my opinion about their food. (It's really good!). Often there is a long wait - including for takeout. I'm happy they are in the neighborhood!! read more

This is 10000% my new favorite place in town. I've been there times now. I have been complaining we do not have enough Vietnamese restaurants, and an abundance of tacos and Indian food. My prayers were answered here. I stumbled upon it after yoga one day. Just so happened to be the day they opened. I went to ask the staff how long they had been open because pho is one of my favorite foods and they told me they had just opened that day. How lucky! Day one the food was amazing! That's hard to pull off for a lot of businesses. I believe it's the owners of wasabi. Which they obviously run a great business. I've had the veggie pho and the salad and the eggrolls. I could eat those things every day from there and be happy. Please go patronize this business as I want to be here forever and expand to my side of town, west side!
