I gave this restaurant 5 stars right after it opened because the food was spectacular back then--at least for Asheville, where there are no high-quality Chinese restaurants. Since then the quality has gone down significantly, leaving the food pretty much on par with what you'd expect from a basic Chinese fast food place in a small southern city. Have been here more than once but I always get the exact same thing: beef with broccoli. I decided to try their chow mein because chow mein is one of my favorite things other than beef with broccoli. Tried to order and was told "just so you know, chow mein doesn't have noodles. Its just vegetables. Lo mein has noodles." That's not true. They both have noodles, just different types of noodles. I assumed maybe they make chow mein with and without noodles and maybe call the with "lo mein". So I ordered their lo mein, even though lo mein is usually egg noodles and I'm not a fan. Guess what? The noodles were egg noodles. Not the chow mein noodles like they said. I'm pretty unhappy. read more

I just moved here from Chattanooga first time at this restaurant. I ordered it I was going to eat inside, it came out in a paper bag ready to go home. LOL are used to love did you use in Chattanooga and I will keep doing it here in Asheville. I have only a couple comments I ordered the seafood $14.95 meal. It was supposed to be of mixed vegetables,lobste,crab,shrimp and scallops. When I got home and opened it up, as you can see the amount of broccoli. I only wish that had been more shrimp lobster or crab or scallops.LOL. The young man who served me was so polite! It was very refreshing. Asian Wok is close to us and we used them tonight for the first time. Right now it's just takeout and I appreciate their caution and cleanliness during this crazy time. We ordered a tofu main dish and a chicken combination plate. It was all..okay. The tofu tasted as though a jarred sauce had been put on it after it was sauteed and the chicken was..fleshy. A bit of crispness would have helped and the rice was too moist. ​Worse, the spring roll tasted like it had been taken out of a bag and deep-fried. So greasy and tasteless. The plus is that the vegetables were perfect! Crisp and not overcooked. Next time - and there will be another chance - I'll order a veggie dish. The BEST Chinese food in Asheville! Now that I've ordered food from the Asian wok a few dozen times over the last couple of years- I think it's time to finally write a review. The food is consistently delicious! Their crab Rangoon's actually tasty and not just filled with a giant pump of hot cream cheese like another local Asian restaurant that shall go unnamed The spare ribs, are "awww man, so good" as just exclaimed by my fiancé who is sitting down beside me. I asked him why they were so good and after thinking about it for a second he said "the flavor is good and they are tender (vs like tough red leather as I'm sure you might have experienced before If you've ever been to a crappy Chinese establishment) What can I say, everything is delicious! Also they are family run and everyone inside is kind and friendly, including the kids. They've only gotten our order wrong once and they gave us a credit to use on a future order with a free order of rangoons to make up for it. For real- this place rocks! read more

We went here last night for the first time. The reviews were mixed but we decided to give it a shot. I'm profoundly disappointed that we did. We ordered the family meal that serves 6. There was a large quantity of food, quantity wasn't the problem, quality was. We got the sesame chicken, the General Tso's and the chicken and vegetables. The sesame chicken and the General's were balls of gristle. And nothing... that's right. There were balls of only fried dough coated in sauce with zero chicken inside. A little late on my review as we checked-in on Christmas Eve. Even though they are usually closed on that day of the week they were open and very busy. We ordered at the restaurant and know calling it in would be a shorter wait, but the food was worth it. We ordered for the three of us: Roast pork egg Rolls, Spring Rolls, Hot and Sour soup, white and Pork Fried Rice, General Tso's Chicken, Mongolian Beef and Kung Lao Chicken. It was all packed well into a couple of bags (that don't leak!) and we drove home (15+ minutes). Everything was still pretty hot, we did microwave a little, and very tasty. This will be our new go to Chinese food restaurant especially for our Christmas Eve tradition. read more

Just ok. The fried rice is that yellow kind that I'm pretty sure comes already made. I got the hibachi chicken and it was bland and was cut in big chunks. Doesn't taste like any hibachi I've ever had, and instead like something I could make at home even though I'm not a great cook. read more

Ordered the chicken & broccoli. It was pretty bland compared to most places. Confirmed over the phone that it came with white rice. Check before you leave because they gave me fried rice instead. I don't eat onion so that was just great. Also, their hours say they're open until 10pm but they were closing at 9pm so I couldn't even go back and get white rice since it was 9:25 before I got home and opened the food. Would not recommend. Their egg drop soup was pretty good, the eggs rolls and spring rolls were on the greasy side of average... Our actual dishes were probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had. My General Tso's chicken was sticky and sweet and not at all spicy, my mom's Szechuan black bean curd was "not great", my husband's sweet and sour pork was "the absolute most average sweet and sour pork you can imagine."
