Yay!!! They're back and open. Menus are on the walls so people aren't touching them. If you're dining in, there's a max of 6 people to a table and some tables don't allow seating (for social distancing purposes). They have hand sanitizer at tables where seating is allowed and they seat people accordingly. There's also a huge plastic sheet spreading patrons from the payment area and they wipe down the tables after each use (I just witnessed it). The food is still scrumptious and delicious. They are still the best pho place in Maryland. Their meats are so tender it is ridiculous and the taste is phenomenal. Most of the patrons are picking up these days or ordering through postmates. I arrived before the busy time on a Saturday. As I started eating, more people came and dined in. When I left, they were probably at 30 to 40% capacity. It's tough to write reviews for a place that has been reviewed as much as this restaurant! Let's see: ample, free parking? Covered. Slightly sketchy strip mall? Covered. Super clean interior, including restroom? Covered. Great service? Covered. So what can I add? Well... while waiting in the car for my friend to arrive, I noticed that most of the folks exiting and entering were of Asian appearance. That bodes well for it being authentic. And ... Most of the reviewers I've read seem to refer to what number dish they had, and many of them don't go into detail so I can do that. But first let me start with my delectable summer roll. I chose the non-fried one, stuffed with shredded cabbage, shrimp and pork. How they keep the cabbage crispy while the shrimp and pork bits are cooked perfectly, is a mystery to me. The peanut sauce to dip in was thick and flavorful On to my #10! I opted for this, with "slices of eye of round and fat brisket", for two reasons. One, I almost always order chicken dishes when eating out, and two, coming in from the frosty wind I needed something really hearty. ;) It sounded like the combo of eye of round (tends to be dry) with fat brisket (some fat makes it juicier) was a natural. Let me tell you, it was divine! I've never seen so much meat in a bowl of pho, and all of it tender and full of flavor. Not a lot can be said about noodles, or optional sprouts, basil leaves and lime wedges except that they were super fresh. My friend asked for thinly sliced onion in vinegar, which I had never had before, but it was a lovely addition. As my friend noted, one of the best things about pho is that the longer it takes to eat it, the more the flavor develops. Even a small bowl is enormous and I shouldn't have, but I did eat it all. It was a wonderful lunch experience yesterday, and although it's a bit of a drive for me, I would eat here again in a heartbeat if I was in the area! PS: Wish I had taken a photo of the menu, because in looking at the ones posted here, the prices have gone up slightly. About a 1-1.5: Pho Real is a pho restaurant located in a small strip plaza off of Old Columbia Pike, which seems to be located in a 'suburb' of Silver Spring. The menu offers some appetizers (such as the spring and summer rolls), 20 different kinds of pho, and various beverages. The hubs and I came here to check out their pho, as we had heard some great things about it being one of the best (if not THE best) places to get authentic and delicious pho in the DMV. I ordered the #12 - Tai, Chin; supposedly a beef-based broth filled with slices of eye round steak and well-done brisket, the broth was just OVERLY sweet. It literally tasted like sugar water, where none of the beef bone broth nor the spices were tasted. The meat pieces were also extremely unappetizing - as some may know, I can do well-done meat pretty well; however, these were overcooked to the point that it was super tough, dried out (even within the broth), and had a chalky taste to them that it was hard to swallow. They also had an unpleasant white/gray tint to them. The eye round steak slices seemed similar in cut and texture, and also was not good. T____T After 1.5 bites, I just couldn't do it anymore and pushed it off to the side. The hubs ordered the #17 - Pho, Ga; this was supposedly a chicken-based broth, filled with pieces of white meat chicken. While this broth was not as sweet as the beef version, it was still extremely watered down and super bland - I was expecting a hearty chicken broth, but it tasted as if the chicken was only dumped in for about 3 minutes, not flavoring the broth to any degree. The sriracha and the hoisin didn't help, as it seemed to just be flavoring hot water. T____T I did appreciate, however, that they had a good generous portion of the noodles, and that their 'medium-sized bowls' were actually pretty generous in serving. The hubs was really not happy, and we both agreed that this is probably one of the worst pho we've tasted in quite some time. I just wished we had a better tasting pho experience as others have continuously raved about! Service was friendly, and there weren't any patrons besides us and one other gentleman during the lunch rush. Maybe their dinner time is the right time to go, as I'm hoping the broths are simmered more for flavor by then? Solid viet place! Stopped in for a quick lunch with 3 people and we got large #1s and a small #2. Filling portions of noodles and beef, and the chunks of tendon were nice and not skinny! Broth is also flavorful and on par with most viet places in New York City. The spring rolls are bigger and have thicker skin but the pork, carrot and vermicelli filling was still good (my parents said it was just ok, they expected shrimp like picky kings lol) The staff are friendly and the place is spacious and clean. Pho Real is a nice, quaint Pho (Vietnamese comfort soup) place. Easily the best restaurant in the Briggs Chaney plaza. Interior is simple and resembles many hole- in- the- wall Asian spots. Everything they have to offer from spring rolls, to summer rolls, to bubble tea smoothies, to pho is just awesome! They have a good amount of seating and a few tables that can accommodate large parties but also small tables if you are just dining for one or two. I've brought a lot of my friends to this spot as their first place to try pho and it's given a lasting impression to them! I order the veggie pho because I no longer eat meat. However my family recommends the beef pho broth over the chicken broth if you want a more traditional meat pho. The best smoothie they have there is the Vietnamese coffee bubble tea smoothie (it's strong but sweet!) but if you are not into coffee, then the strawberry bubble smoothie is the next best. I think if they remodeled their interior it would be more aesthetically pleasing (not pink walls) and would definitely bring in more customers but overall it's very clean and the staff (family) are extremely attentive, pleasant, and homey. Pho Real is one of my favorite pho places in MD (the other is their other family pho restaurant, Pho VN 1 in College Park). It's super close to my house, so I come here on the weekends for their pho. I've been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. It's always packed on a Saturday or Sunday morning! I usually order the Tai Chin pho--they aren't stingy with the meat and you get a good amount of noodles. The broth is delicious, very flavorful and the portion size is just right. Broth certainly is boiled from bones in it, it doesn't taste like it's 100% beef broth. Veggie broth skewed a little too synthetic. An all around good trip here for a quick lunch. Service was very good throughout and the food was excellent. Not much decor inside but I don't think it's needed, they get you in and out with a full stomach. All I needed to see was a few tables of Vietnamese folks to know the food would be good. I went with the shrimp summer rolls to start and they were very tasty (as was the peanut sauce). I had a Vietnamese iced coffee to drink which was good and strong, per usual. I had the "small" bowl of their #1 Pho dish which is a mixture of meat including tripe, etc. I thought the meat, veggies, and broth were all very good and I will definitely come back if I'm in the area. read more

This little shop doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside it looks kind of like an old diner (at least the front does). I came in on a weekday when it wasn't super busy and it was the perfect atmosphere for pho. I love that the menu is super simple. Pho Chay or the Vegetarian Pho (5/5): I love how developed the broth is for vegetarian pho. It has a depth of flavor that is honestly lacking at most places that just focus on their non-veg pho. There was also the perfect amount of toppings. The tofu, broccoli, and cabbage all complimented the well-developed broth. Add some basil leaves, jalapeños, a swirl of both Sriracha and Hoisin sauce and you've got the perfect bowl of pho. I'm so glad I've found somewhere local to enjoy pho. Great phö, very good service, very friendly, ambiance is simple and restaurant is clean and pleasant. Vietnamese music quietly playing in the background. We shared a couple of summer rolls with shrimp & pork, and they were refreshing. I had the bò viên (meatball pho), my sister had the phö gà (chicken phö), and my mom had tái, nam, sách (slices of round steak, flank & tripe. Each loved our phö!! The broth in mine had beautiful body and was yummy on its own. Then I added the bean sprouts, basil, and sriracha and it was perfect. Best I've had in a long time! I live closer to Baltimore City, so this was a hike, BUT IT WAS WORTH IT. It's really hard to find good pho restaurants in the area with decent pricing and good broth. Pho real fits the bill. I ordered their large combo pho and I could not talk to my friends while submerging into my broth and noodles. Their broth tasted very clean and very well made. I appreciate that they do not skimp on the meat either, as many other pho restaurants do. If you love noodles, they do not skimp on that either! Their pho is simply exquisite and definitely worth the drive for me. The fried spring rolls and fresh summer rolls were both exquisite as well! Definitely something to order there if you are very hungry and just want to eat. Their Viet Coffee is very strong and will wake you up! It is a great pick me up if you ever need it! I know this place specializes in their pho, but I wonder if they will broaden up their menu to include other dishes like bun bo hue or rice dishes. Overall rating: 4.0! They only sell pho - no other noodle dishes or rice dishes. They also have eggrolls and bubble tea. But wow that broth! I could drink it for forever. It was light and clean, but still flavorful without all the salt! Normally I drink the soup and need to drink about equal amounts of ice water because I think it's so salty, but I could just drink a whole tub of this soup! I loved it. They also gave a decent amount of noodles with the order. My only negative comment would be that the portion size compared to sized seemed more expensive than I think. I think I'm too used to giant portions of pho, so I was a little surprised at the smaller size of the bowls. Therefore I think it is slightly more expensive than I'd like, but that doesn't mean I wasn't full since they gave a good amount of noodles. The broth is worth it! read more

I lunched here with a friend. Simply decorated, they have lots of seating, and we heard Vietnamese tunes too. I had a young coconut drink ($2.50), a sweet treat to my small (read: regular) bowl of pho, their #1 ($6.55 - we're talking suburban prices - tai, nam, gau, gan, sach, or slices of eye round steak, well-done flank, fat brisket, soft tendon, and tripe). Our bowls came out FAST (though it wasn't crowded), the pho itself solid, with a soothing broth and tender cuts of meat. We abused plenty of fixings to decorate our soup, like cilantro, hot peppers, mint leaves, bean sprouts, limes, and chili and bean sauces. This cash-only spot fits right in its diverse suburban strip mall (complete with Mexican, El Salvadorean, and Chinese restaurants). Their name is the stuff bad jokes are made of - like Wok and Roll - their menu even reads "PHO REAL is REAL PHO". But hey, as long as they continue to dish out tasty Vietnamese noodle soup, they can call themselves mud if they want. Recommended! read more

PHO REAL is by far my favorite pho eatery spot of all of DC, Maryland, and Virginia. I've been going there for the past 10 years and will continue to stop by when I can. Thr food, service, and staff are wonderful and always friendly. Really has a family oriented feel to it. Whether its prime time for Sunday brunch, a weekday afternoon, or the morning after drinking lol, Pho Real is the number 1 spot to go. Sure there's are several others pho spots that are good too don't get me wrong. But what separates them is the quality of the food and there amazing staff. Pho Real has the best pho in the whole DMV with a staff so friendly that you feel like you are having a meal with your own family :) I usually order a small bowl of the Pho Tai (beef cooked rare). They do not skimp on meat or noodles and broth has so much flavor. They serve bubble tea here as well, I usually order the Thai Tea Bubble Tea. This place can get pretty packed, but take that as a sign of how good their pho is! The staff are super efficient, food comes out so quick. Parking is never an issue, the restaurant shares a parking lot with other stores. i wanted to try this pho place based on the high reviews. i ordered the summer roll, large pho #1 and a Thai tea. Summer roll was filled with noodles, and lettuce mainly ( which I don't quite like) and were were pretty small sized. Seeing the photos I thought it'd be bigger size. The large pho #1 portion is decent but not that much compared to other pho places for the price. Flavor was heavy with msg and not much authentic beef flavor, was very thirsty after. Another small strip mall pho places kicking out some pretty good pho. The broth here isn't too onion-y and seems to have a little less salt which makes it a little cleaner IMO. Sometimes they are a little short on the beef other times not. Also prices have been going up but I've noticed this at most of the pho places I regularly visit. Currently I think a large is around 10, small is around 8. The coffee is pretty good and is a little less sweet than other places. The service has always been good and the pho comes out pretty quickly, staying true to the fact that this is the fast food of Vietnam. You're supposed to get it quickly. Was not a fan of the pho here personally. The broth seemed cold and meat did NOT look or taste fresh, been in a pho frenzy and have been trying a lot of places and this was unfortunately my least favorite place. The meat had a Fluorescent film on it like most deli meats do (none of the other places I've had- had this on the meat) and it tasted chewy. The broth was not piping hot as it should be to the point it could cook the meats. The sprouts felt old too. Just wasn't a fan and could not eat my food as I was thrown off by the protein. read more

After a long day at the DMV (with mask!), I had a craving for PHO. Looking thoithe YELP recommendations I saw a restaurant that caught my eye, it was called PHO Real! After eating carryout there, I would say it was one of the best Pho restaurant in the area. I had the #4 small bowl, an order of Summer Rolls and another order of Spring Rolls. The pho broth was great and was not oily. The meats and vegetables were fresh. The Summer Rolls were vermicelli noodles were great not clumpy and the shrimp/pork tasted fresh. The Spring Rolls were large as Egg Rolls! The right size! This will be my go to place for pho in the area! read more
