Coming from a Vietnamese family and growing up in the San Jose area, I've had a lot of Vietnamese food growing up. In most "authentic" Vietnamese restaurants, there are things you can come to expect that don't match most contemporary restaurants. 1. The decor is often simple, and sometimes often falls short. This is true of this location, as it appears to be partially remodeled and there's a clash of new cleanliness and old things that need repair. It's a jarring difference between what is next door. 2. The service is normally lacking. With this location, it's a hit or miss. I've been here twice and while English is sometimes a challenge, communication is not an issue. Attitude and attention to detail can be though. Our server was not the one to deliver our food and someone from the back did, and almost gave it away to another table. No water refills either. 3. Massive menu. A lot of Vietnamese places have enormous menus, often made up of variants of Pho, rice , or noodle dishes. This is a good thing, and this place does the same. Knowing these expectations, I really wanted to like this place, so I didn't judge for the qualities I previously mentioned. Where they fall short are: Quality and consistency: I ordered the same dish twice , and the topping quantity/quality vary. Noodles were over cooked both times where they practically break apart when using chopsticks to pick them up. Price: The price point is much higher than what's around in their near competitive areas. This can be forgiven if quality or service were superior, but they are not. Cleanliness: Maybe I was unlucky, but the second time I was here, there were a lot of flies where I was seated. And when we were seated, I noticed our table wasn't entirely cleaned. I had to wipe down fresh sauce stains that were spilled. Hope they can get their act together. Is it the worse place? Not at all. But it falls below average, and with many other options available in the area, it's hard to find a reason to come back. read more

We go here A LOT and tonight, they did us wrong. They charged our card for $5 more so, instead of giving us $5 back in cash, they voided the charge. The issue is we won't get that money back until Monday at the earliest and we only had enough for dinner so couldn't pay for the meal. We asked if we could bring the cash back tomorrow and they declined. I get they are a business and aren't giving food away but like I said, we go here a lot and now they lost a regular customer over $23. Ended up having lunch here because they had outdoor seating in a shaded area and was happy with the food. There were 4 of us and we each had something different; I had the chicken bun (rice noodles) and others had the 5-spice chicken salad, the shortribs with rice, fried calamari, vegetarian spring rolls, and tofu summer rolls. Everything was tasty and the wait persons were attentive and really nice (they even gave our fur baby a fresh bowl of water). Portions are generous and everything was fresh and prepared well. The only set back was that the person who had the vegetarian spring rolls had to request the lettuce with which to wrap them; lettuce usually comes with the rolls at other places as a matter of course. Food is surprising pretty good: *B8 Thin Vermacelli with choice of pork, beef or chicken ($13.95, 4 stars) - I've only seen thin sheets of Vermacelli once before. I ordered this but was first given B6 regular Vermacelli instead with grilled pork. After I informed the waiter, she apologized and brought out the thin sheets and greens and herbs for wrapping. *P1 Pho Combination Special with Oxtail and Filet Mignon ($13.95, 3.5 stars) - The broth is clear but has a decent flavor, a little medicinal. There was one piece of oxtail, tripe, tendon and a good amount of thinly-sliced meat. *Spring roll with pork sausage and pork skin - not the crispy kind of pork skin, but the roll has a lot of chewiness to it. When compared to most pho franchises, this one is pretty decent. I used to enjoy it a lot, but once I started trying more locations I discovered how this one isn't as special as it used to be. For instance, the broth of the pho isn't that strong and the portion sizes have recently shrunk. Usually my partner and I get a large size of pho, but now it's become mostly broth. I was left feeling unsatisfied and worse, still hungry. I also enjoy getting spring rolls here, but they made the size of the peanut sauce smaller. I think this is because they charge $1 for an extra cup of peanut sauce. Because of this, I think they made the one that initially comes with the meal smaller. I found this to be stingy as most pho restaurants I've been to are more generous with their portions. Even the bean sprouts they handed us has decreased. The service is okay. To be honest, the workers keep to themselves and aren't the most attentive. Most of the time, I've had to get up from my seat to ask for a refill or for the check. They also have this tendency to hand people the check when the place is packed. This feels kind of rude because if others are enjoying their meal and were seated first, then it's only fair for those coming in to wait. Overall, due to the shrink in portion size I will be coming here less. It's still a decent spot though for pho when in Tracy, but to leave a place still feeling hungry sucks. Host was extremely friendly and bilingual fluently. Promptly seated and given a colorful menu. 1. Appetizers actually came out first! It was extremely fresh, warm to touch and tremendously flavors in the nem nuong spring rolls and light peanut sauce. Fresh carrots, cilantro sand a Thai chili pepper for those who choose to use it (I DID)! 2. Ordered the Pho Dac Biet with Filet mignon. Birth was clear and fresh but in my opinion lacking in flavor. It works well with all the ingredients. Some will either hate love or like the birth due to personal preference. Ingredients were fresh. So we wanted a sit down dinner after a long day of shopping at the outlets. We decided on this place. It used to be Saigon Bay but the name changed. We were seated quickly. Their menu is huge. A lot of options. Maybe a little too many options. I went with the rare steak pho no onions and I made it a combo which comes with a egg roll and soda. We also ordered spring rolls. The spring rolls came out fast. The spring rolls were good. The wife really loved them. My pho came out and low and behold there were green onions. I was clear no onions but I should have said no onions and go through the color of the rainbow like no green, red, yellow, purple and white. This was an easy fix. I just moved my pho to my son since he likes onions. For some reason my soup took awhile to come out. Weird. The waitress was super nice but she forgot my egg roll. At the end of my meal I reminded her about my egg roll. She was nice to bring one out. I was a little disappointed in the little guy (egg roll) because it was SMALL. I paid an extra 3.95 for a soda and a small egg roll. In the end even with the small hiccups, this was a good joint for pho. read more

My family and I wanted to try a new restaurant that served Pho. We saw the menu online and decided to try this place out. I ordered the large pho bowl P6. The portions of the soup was enough to feed 2 people, and the price was good for the amount of food. I was hoping it came with more noodles cause that's my favorite part. The slices of meat although plenty, were not cut into edible size pieces, some had pieces of cartilage, and some were rubbery in texture. It made it hard to eat the soup effortlessly without the fear that I was going to bite into something hard. The staff were friendly and fast, and they turned over tables quickly. The pickup was ready in around 20 min and easy to order. I had the stir fried egg noodle which I loved and it is one of the best noodle I ever had. There was a lot of tofu pieces, but if someone likes saucy noodle this is not a good option. My husband had the other dish and he too loved it. First impression when I walked in was it smelled like someone was airing out the restroom. YUCK. Ok we got seated quickly because no one was there. I asked to start with the steamed chicken roll. The waiter seemed puzzled that this was all I was ordering. He came back 5 minutes later to ask if we wanted to order more food but I was waiting to try the roll to decide if I wanted more. Ordered spicy chicken wings appetizer, (s) Bun Rieu & (B2) eggroll shrimp and grilled chicken vermicelli bowl. Would order the entrees again but skip the wings next time. -Chicken wings were ok. Has a savory flavor on the wings with a tamarind sauce to accompany it on the side. -Bun Rieu broth has good amount of "crabby" flavor and not too overpowering or salty. Good size seafood/meat ball mix with fried tofu. -B2 vermicelli has fresh crunchy egg roll (usually hard to find because most are frozen and thrown into a fryer which result in a mushy inside) and all the fixins'. Very satisfied with the selection. Overall experience: establishment was clean (even in the bathroom), waitress was attentive and resturant seems to adhere Covid dine in restrictions. Patrons were seated socially distanced, staff wears masks and utensils were disposable. Outdoor dining availble as well. I have been eating here at least two times a week since 2021 when I had came in to eat by myself and met the owner, Andy. He took the time to introduce himself, give me a tour of the music, things on the wall, and a taste of the culture that he was very proud of! He had also introduced me to the filet mignon pho which is absolutely delicious. Whether you are looking for a tasty bahn mi (I recommend the grilled pork personally) or a noodle dish, such as their beef chow fun, BBH, or a rice dish, they have it all and you will be happy with whatever your favorite Vietnamese dish is! I'm a returning customer since I move to this area. From the past 8 months I've been here maybe 50 times that being, the food was good but not the best. I come from San Jose where PHO places are well known and I was only coming here because this is the only spot I found. But TODAY ON August 1,2024, was my final straw let me explain. I went with my family and requested the table that had a Bench because of my 2 year old. As a group we were a total of 4. The server told me no that was for people of 5 guest or more. Keep in mind, there was only 1 other party in the facility. I told him so you rather let a LOYAL AND RETURNING CUSTOMER , leave and stop doing business than waiting or hopping a party or 5 or more comes in that door? I didn't even entertain that conversation. So I left. BUT I LEFT FOR GOOD! Will never come back. I recommend other people stay away from this location as well. THE GOOD NEWS is my family and I found a new place, SAIGON RESTURANT.
