This is my first time since it has changed ownership. And from my first impression I was not pleased. The fact that I have to wait over 30 minutes for my Banh Mi sandwich and The Shrimp Spring Roll. There was a couple who came 10 minutes after me and they received their food first. I opted to get the beef banh mi and it was an okay flavor, and nothing outstanding. First time eating here and I think this is the best Vietnamese restaurant in South Orange County. We were greeted and seated right away. The atmosphere is very nice we ended up sitting outside. We tried a bit of everything, I had the seafood garlic noodles , my wife had the vermicelli noodles, my kids had the pho with pork and shrimp fried rice. Every dish was cooked fresh and tasted outstanding. The cook came out a few times to check if everything was good which is always appreciated. I simply cannot say enough good things about this place. There used to be a pho place here before called Phở Nation, but we weren't huge fans of their food. When Phở Sài Gòn Gem opened my wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality of their phở. My wife is Vietnamese and she says the phở here reminds her of the phở her mother makes. That's about the best praise you could ask for. I absolutely love this place. The service is kind and quick-paced. They don't just wait around and are rather vigilant. I really loved their garlic noodles with shaken beef as well as the one with short ribs (special menu item). I live all the way out in Garden Grove area so it is quite a drive, but I am looking forward to coming back once again. This is our second time at this restaurant since the new owners. The first time we had the garlic noodles with tofu and vegetables and the fried rice with beef. Both were spectacular. The vegetables fresh for tofu flavorful and the beef thinly sliced and very tender. We also tried the shrimp spring rolls. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and very tasty. Tonight was takeout night and we had the chow mein with soft noodles vegetables and the beef. We weren't disappointment and as you can see from the photo there was definitely enough for two. This place is delicious. I've been here twice now and had delivery a 3rd time. The pho broth is so rich it's almost heavy but in that really good way. So much flavor in each spoonful. I got pork with fried rice this time and the portions are huge. I certainly have enough to make a second meal. The Viet Coffee was strong and super creamy. Also! They are still new so the 1st time i was there they didn't have a wait staff. Today they had an amazing woman taking care of all the tables. She was friendly, knowledgeable and quick. First time here and we will definitely be back. I ordered the short rib pho. There were fatty pieces on the short rib which I removed. Otherwise it was tender and falling off the bones. The pho broth was legit. I can tell it was made with love and was very flavorful. I was told that the chef comes in at 4 am everyday to make the broth and I believe it. I ordered a smoothie and the restaurant called to tell me they were out of avocado and asked if I wanted something else. I asked to cancel it and they said they would. Under new ownership and we couldn't be happier! My family and I enjoyed a delicious meal here yesterday and may eat there again today! We had the shaken filet with rice, the chicken pho, egg rolls, beef banh mi and truffle fries... we couldn't resist. The filet was so perfectly cooked and tender - it just melted! The chicken pho had the most flavorful broth and the chicken was all white meat and again perfectly cooked. The banh mi was so fresh! The egg rolls were perfect and the truffle fries were absolute perfection - fresh, crispy and an ounce of oil! My Pho was great and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I will say it is probably one of the cleanest and friendliest Pho restaurant that I've been to. Portions were fair. Price is fair. How big of a bowl of Pho do you need, right? Things are expensive. I'm sure it costs a lot for them operate here and keep quality up. They are doing a great job. Everyone thinks they are a pho expert these days and everyone has their favorite, take social media comments with a grain of salt and try it for yourself. I don't think you'll be disappointed. This place was great. We grabbed takeout first time around. They were quick and brought me a glass of water as I waited. I didn't ask for it so I thought that was very courteous. Once home I noticed little things that just made me happy. The bags were tied with sensible convenient bows. A little tug and you're enjoying your food. Last place we ordered from put knots in the bag and it was annoying. The soup was piping hot and the portion of noodles was very good again, compared with the last place we went to. Same for the bean sprouts, chilies and basil. Excellent. The garlic fried chicken is awesome. If you like wings I highly recommend them. We'll absolutely be back and next time I intend eat there. Ordered the pork banh mi and the charbroiled pork spring rolls and they were both delicious! the pork was still juicy even tho it took me a while before i dug into my food so it sat there for at least an hour. Fantastic! My son is Vietnamese, and his Mom makes him homemade Pho, spring rolls, banh mi, etc quite often. Yet my son said this is now his favorite Vietnamese restaurant, and it is as good as his Mom's homemade Pho! We have been here three times now and brought multiple people with us, and every single person has raved about it. So far we have tried 3 different types of Pho... the filet mignon, the beef combo, and the chargrilled pork. All three were fantastic. Good portions of meet in each, and the sprouts, basil, and noodles all are very fresh. My son commented that the broth is so good, that even when he feels full he wants to take another bite! :) We also really like their pork and shrimp spring rolls and peanut sauce. My son also loved the young coconut water. They served it in the coconut husk, and he loved getting to scrape the coconut chunks out of the inside to eat them. The chef also came out to our table to check on us. Nice touch! The wait staff was also insanely nice and attentive. Some of the best service I have had recently in a restaurant. I live up the street from Pho Saigon Gem, and work from. At lunch, I decided to drive around looking for something to eat, and noticed a new Vietnamese restaurant. It was really nice inside, and decided to dine in. I got the banh mi with pork and it was delicious. I told my wife about it and we went later in the week for dinner. She got the pho and I got the vermicelli with pork. The food was fantastic, premium fresh ingredients, meat, and the broth was amazing. Met the chef, and loved hearing about his new salmon dish he has coming up. Service was phenomenal and we'll be eating here often. read more

You can tell the owners and chef actually care about the quality of the food being put out, the freshness of dishes, and the overall experience of the customer.
