Found this place near my new home and figured I'd give it a try because it was convenient and I love both Ramen and Sushi. The Tonkatsu Ramen was really good. Good broth, noodle quality, and Chashu. Added some spice to it with their chili oil (which is a bit more potent than most places, so don't go too crazy if you can't handle some heat) Also tried a spicy tuna hand roll. Well constructed and good quality tuna. Will have to come back and try more of the Sushi selection. Friendly and attentive staff as well! read more

Always hunting for another good sushi spot. This place popped up so we went. You place your name on waitlist and they text you when your table is ready. It was a Friday night and surprisingly we were sat pretty quick. Started with edamame and they were very good and presented nicely. The California roll wasn't anything to write home about but they were large. The crunch roll was one of my favorite I have ever had but a tad on the sweet side. I liked that it wasn't too crunchy like some rolls are. It is surgical in its layers of crunch. Another roll I liked was the dragon roll. The rolls are on the larger side which is good but they match the price. The Tonkotsu ramen was pretty bland so I recommend adding some spice or sauce to spruce up the broth but the ingredients were all tasty. Overall it's a decent place to get sushi. Service was excellent and quick and they always checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Worth checking out if you are close by but I was neither super impressed nor upset we ate there either. read more

A good place to get Japanese Ramen and rolls. Friendly and prompt service. We stopped by here to get both rolls and ramen. The spicy Miso, Tonkotsu, and Chicken ramen are solid selection. Went here for sushi and ramen, as the name of the restaurant suggests! kind of a hole in the wall in Laguna Hills, but I definitely enjoyed it! The food was good, service was fast, and the restaurant was clean. They weren't too busy on a Friday night around 6:00pm. It's arguably one of the best prepared saba sushi around the area. - Tonkotsu Ramen (Pork Broth) | Comes with thick noodles, three slices of chashu (braised pork belly), half an egg, green onion, bamboo, and mushrooms. The broth is perfectly salted with a meaty flavor; way better than their Spicy Miso Ramen. Once again, the chashu is pretty incredible here, as discussed in my previous Yelp review. My wife and I went here for lunch, and the food was excellent. We both really enjoyed the tonkatsu Ramen and the cucumber salad, the tuna roll was a lunch special. It was kind of boring. My wife and I stopped here for lunch and we had a great, reasonably priced sushi meal. For the sushi, they have two sections in the menu: A and B. Two rolls in A cost one price; an A roll and B roll a slightly more expensive price; and two B rolls, a still higher price. My wife and I got a combination A and B roll for $15.95. I ordered the New Jersey and Rock n' Roll; she ordered the New Jersey too and the Crunch. The sushi rolls were delicious! Very fresh, well prepared fish and generous portion sizes. Our waiter was very friendly and made sure we had plenty of wasabi. The ambiance was relaxed --- the restaurant seemed like it was filled with regulars. Second time to come to this restaurant (during the pandemic) and it is still as good as before. The special lunch ramen and rolls menu was substantial! And the prices were affordable. The three sets of sushi we had were all fresh: New Jersey (salmon, avocado, green onion, crunch), Rock N' Roll (salmon, tuna, yellowtail, crunch, tobiko, green onion), and Crunch (tempura shrimp, imi-crab, lettuce, topped with crunch and tobiko). I LOVE the pork Ramen! I actually alternate between the chicken and the pork equally, but when the weather is cooler, the pork is more comforting. I'll be glad when the front of their restaurant is repaired (from the result of a car driving in) so I can eat inside again. But, for now take-out is just as delicious. Our family of five can't get enough of this place! Even though it's takeout only, for now, the food always arrives hot, fresh, and perfectly packed. The portions are generous, and the quality never disappoints. We have our favorites--Hot Chicken Karaage is a must every time (crispy, flavorful, and just spicy enough), and the Spicy Miso Ramen and Extra Hot Tonkotsu Ramen are absolute comfort in a bowl. Finally made it here & I am so happy that we did. Local ramen spot hidden in the corner of McIntyre & La Paz... next to Heidelberg Bakery. Their menu had so many options because they also serve sushi here. We came here for the ramen & we will be back to try their sushi. For appetizers we got their edamame & sunomono salad (cucumber in sesame dressing). The Shoyu & the Tonkatsu ramen came with 2 slices of chashu and half a boiled egg. So good! But the star of the show was their Vegan ramen... for some reason the broth was more flavorful than their other ramens. I couldn't believe it was vegan, I had to confirm. I've been to a few ramen places that serve clear veggie broth for their ramen, so this is a first. New favorite for vegan ramen! 11/10 stars for that. Service is great. Great ramen - had the chicken ramen - delicious chicken broth w/ chicken meat. Jalapeño yellowtail tataki was very good - fresh with a light sauce and cucumber salad. Tuna cut roll was fresh and tasty. Definitely a new place in our rotation. First time at this neighborhood restaurant since my daughter was in the mood for ramen. Service was prompt and friendly. Ramen is all about the broth. We ordered the spicy miso pork noodles, less spicy and the vegetable ramen with spicy miso broth and a half of egg added. Noodles were good but the broth had little to no seasoning. Staff: The young lady that took our order by phone was very nice. Upon pickup they were again very friendly and thanked me a couple of time for my business. Food/Quality: The ramen is good not great compared to other places I've visited. Seems to be missing slightly a true Japanese flavor. However the chashu flavor was very tasty. The Karaage was good, but a little small, but in their defense it was listed as an appetizer. Sushi was fair but appeared to be missing the traditional vinegar seasoning in the rice. I was yearning for ramen and this was my first time trying it out. I ordered the vegan ramen, except with spicy miso broth and added an egg. We also ordered edamame as an appetizer. I thought the ramen noodles were good and the spice level of spicy miso was good enough for me.. well, except I added a bit more togarashi. I actually needed to add soy sauce to my ramen, plus soy sauce and togarashi on the edamame. I was surprised that the broth lacked flavor (even though the menu says it's boiled for hours) and the veggies were bland; I needed salt to liven it up. The egg on top was a hard boiled egg - no jammy here. The edamame didn't even taste like salt was added at all, hence the soy sauce addition. You should be able to taste something when you slip those soy beans in your mouth.. to us, it was just steamed soy bean pods. Service was great, but I've never needed to add more flavor to my dishes at a ramen spot.. for ramen, I'd prefer to go elsewhere... read more

I had been wanting to try this place ever since they opened over a year ago, and I finally got my chance. This restaurant took the place of an authentic Japanese restaurant that we used to frequent often. They're located in a medium-sized shopping plaza in Laguna Hills, near Ironwood and Villa Roma. Plenty of parking is available in the shared lot. While I know that ramen is never the same when you order it to go, that's what I ended up doing. I called in an order of Tonkotsu Ramen, and the guy that answered the phone said it would be ready in 15 min. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised how they transformed the former Japanese restaurant into a more modern interior. The service was friendly and my ramen was ready when I arrived. They separated the tonkotsu broth from the noods, which I appreciated. When I got home, I put the noods and broth together in a bowl and I was excited to dive in! For me, the broth always answers the question of "no or go". Unfortunately this bowl was a no. I like my tonkotsu pork broth thick, garlicky and flavorful. I want it to stick to my gut as it works its way down my system. This broth was unfortunately thin and lacked the depth that I crave. The ramen noodles, however, had a nice chew and the charsiu pieces were decent in size. In addition, the food was packed very well and the price of $12.95 is on par with other ramen places in the area. I'd give them 3.5 stars overall. I hope to return soon, eat inside their establishment (instead of getting the food to go) and try additional dishes. That may raise this review from a 3 star rating to a 4 star. read more

This was our third time here. The previous visits I only had the Ramen. Tonight we had the Lady in Red sushi roll... wow it was so good. The fish was so fresh! I have never had to leave this kind of review... I was very excited to try the seafood ramen. I specifically ordered it because it includes mussels. There was 1 mussel in the bowl... it looked juicy, but still had the fuzzy bits inside, which appeared to move, so I think it was still alive! The baby scallops had a bit of crunch to them and the shrimp were not clean. Even the noodles were bad; they appeared and tasted like store bought noodles. I did not finish it - didn't even eat half - but still experienced some indigestion. The one star is for the Crazy Roll, which was good, not great. Sadly, I won't order from here again. Came here for lunch with a coworker. Since he never been to a ramen house before, this seems like a great opportunity to do so. He didn't have much thought initially but quickly became a fan. We opted for the ramen lunch combo with California Rolls to pair. The roll came to what one would expect from it. Cucumber salad was refreshing and quite addicting. Love the seasoning they added into the dish. When the ramen bowls came out, the sleeves went up. Man, the pork in my bowl was super tender! Love how it breaks apart with every bite. To my surprise, the chicken from my coworkers bowl also had the same consistency. The broth for both our bowls were light. It was just right for lunch since we didn't want a heavy stomach. Got to try this new ramen/sushi spot in South OC. Decided to go with the Tonkotsu Ramen. It came with 2 pieces chasu pork and half egg for $12.99. The broth had rich creamy flavor and was tasty. The chasu pork was pretty soft and just slightly above average. Noodles soft/silky. Egg was perfectly made. Overall it will satisfy your ramen cravings but at a higher cost and may not fill you up completely. Also tried the passion fruit green tea for $5. Tasty but bit overpriced. If it had boba or more passion fruit or free refill it would be worth it. As it is should be $3.50 max. The Unagi Eel bowl good but was quite small for $14. Honestly almost everything on the menu is priced few dollars higher than it should be. Trendy decor, comfortable seating, friendly service. Just priced higher than competition for slightly above average fare makes this hard to justify regular visits. 3 1/2 stars. read more

TAKEOUT ONLY RESTAURANT. There is no dine in due to a crash into the location last May. Lady'n Red Roll was good. I didn't like the Tonkotsu Ramen much, but it was fine. Teriyaki plate was decent. Pork cutlet was good. I wish the place was open for dining. Seems like a long time to be unable to replace a door and they were missing the drink I ordered so I had to accept a substitute which wasn't as good. read more

This is our new fav spot! We stumbled upon it because our regular sushi spot turned us away due to staffing. First visit- sashimi and lady in red roll. It was so fresh. Not too much rice and the fish was so fresh, like butter. I typically don't care for salmon sashimi, but it was amazing. Went back tonight for some ramen. I had the vegan and Hubby had seafood. Of course we had to start with sashimi and tried the oysters. Everything was delicious. Service was over the top. We had the same server both times and he was on it! My opinion, this place is a gem. I recommend the jalapeño yellowtail appetizer! It was my favorite dish! Fresh yellowtail with a piece of cilantro and jalapeño on top with a tasty citrus sauce (yuzu?). $9.95 for 4 pieces pretty pricey but it was by far my favorite dish among the rolls I ordered. Rocky Mountain, dragon tail, and rock n roll were aight. Didn't feel like they were particularly amazing, but tasty. There were multiple small fish bones from the eel, but I think that's pretty normal cause it's eel. Baked: volcano looks better than it tastes. I just felt like there was just a lot of imitation crab on top so didn't feel like anything special. I think it would be filling if someone wanted to just order that alone which I think is great :) Overall, staff was really friendly, checking up on us, and gave us recommendations. She also gave us free miso for ordering more than $5 from the appetizers. That's a plus! The environment looks clean and easy parking. First Time Here The previous Japanese restaurant Kappo Hanna- that was here is no longer. It's completely different. Similar type of food (they have sukiyaki & sushi like the previous) but it's more updated and not your old school Japanese restaurant that once was. We came here for a quick Friday night dinner. Pros: -Clean & Modern Ambiance -Friendly staff -Was able to be seated quickly -Menu has a good selection of food even for the pickiest eaters (ahem kids) (Plate/bento boxes/tempura/sushi/ramen) -Had a good selection of sake/beer/wine -Tonkatsu ramen was good $12 Cons: -This evening was super hot inside. The heater was on us (or heat from the kitchen) while we were dressed up for cold weather in our sweaters while eating ramen. It was almost uncomfortable heat. I felt so great when we were done eating to step outside into the cold night air. -Tempura had very little dipping sauce and was overly breaded/too dense (just our opinion) TIPS: -When it's busy or there's a wait, write your name on the pad of paper at the door inside and then step outside b/c there isn't a waiting area. -If you are in a rush, order as soon as you sit down, they are still working on the flow of the orders so keep that in mind so you can keep the dinner moving forward (we had babysitters waiting for us :) read more

Came here on Labor Day around 6:30pm bc everything was closed. Didn't enjoy the ramen or the chicken karaage. The tonkatsu ramen's broth lacked flavor. The noodles were thick but overcooked. The chicken karaage was heavily breaded popcorn chicken. The baked roll was just okay. I got the one with Unagi on top, but can't really taste the unagi with all the sauces. My friend said it had 'too much sushi rice.' The service was pretty good though. No complaints The price was pretty high for the quality of the food. I'm not saying this place gave me food poisoning, but I felt nauseated with a terrible stomach ache that night. read more

The soft opening has 20% off right now, so the price to quantity is pretty good. We only got the ramen. We found this super new place on yelp (it wasn't even on Google yet). Our favorite ramen in the area is still at Mitsuwa, but this location was really good for south of Irvine. Noodles were small noodles, and my bf said he wish the broth was hotter when it came out, but personally I was getting super warm eating it so I thought it was fine. It was in no way cold so don't worry about that. I also added the chile oil that was provided in a dish shown in the picture I took. The squid ink tasted like squid, but when mixed into the broth, I thought it was very similar to the regular tonkotsu. (I could have a poor pallette to send the difference but ‍). There were 5 options for ramen (forgot to take a picture of the menu), but the amount the base already comes with was enough food. (2 slices of chashu) The service was very quick. I think were in there for only about 30 minutes. We weren't rushed out or anything. They were just so quick which was nice because I had to do things right after before stores closed.
