Stopped here for a bowl of pho. The restaurant is cavernous, without much décor and a lot of tables. Service is speedy. I had the small beef pho even though the large was only $1 more. It was enough for lunch. The broth is as good as any other pho, the price is pretty good, and the meat is tender. The most important thing was that it came with a huge mound of fresh herbs, jalapenos and bean sprouts to dump in the bowl; I hat it when they're skimpy with that stuff. I wish I had more broth for the amount of rice noodles and meat in the bowl. Next time I guess I should get a large. read more

Pho Saigon is classic pho done right. Even though I no longer live in Houston, this place always tops my list of places to visit whenever I'm in town. I don't know it this was Covid related but this place went down quickly. I used to make the 25 miles drive every weekend but now it's not worth it. The quality of food is horrible. I had made friends with the staff and not even 1 of them are there. Don't know if it was the change in management or they all left. A few weeks ago I ordered spring rolls and one of them tasted like cleaning products and the wrapper was hard and chewy. I love this place so much, it has the weirdest parking situation I've ever seen in my life. It like a parking deck but for a tiny strip mall? The food is very authentic and the menu has a ton of options for great prices. They have delicious drinks too, I have to get the coffee every time I come, it's some of the best coffee I've ever had. I'd been to Pho Saigon In a while but always remembered how good the food usually was. 3 of us get pho and one got a pork and shrimp vermicelli bowl. 3 orders of egg rolls ordered and one order of spring rolls. This is the closest it comes to Vietnamese cuisine when you're not in Bellaire. I haven't had a bad meal here yet. The pho is tasty. The rice platters are too. However, if you order a broken rice plate be aware the shredded pork (bi), is bland. The grilled pork is on point and well seasoned. Service is hit or miss. Most days the servers are quick and courteous and somedays they're just slow and "blah". Today the bf and I came in and the server seats us and puts 2 menus down. Being ridiculously cold outside for Houston, I have been obsessed with ramen, pho, and other suppage as of late...wait...didn't I start another review like this? Well it is still cold out and pho was offered for dinner...so guess what happened? Pho-Saigon, with its swath of positive reviews and hordes of regulars that would recommend it...was just ok. The egg rolls were pretty good and came out in about 4.876 seconds, so you know the kitchen has a swath of things pre-prepped. Which is ok when they are serving the amounts they are here. They were pretty good. Nice and salty with a good dipping sauce and of course, hoisin. I recently ate pho in the depths of Asian clad Madison Wisconsin, where the broth was amazing, the meat was tender, and the spices were perfect. Here, it was slightly less than such. The broth was pretty good, but I had to add some fish sauce, a lot of hoisin, and Sriracha to get a little bit of depth to the flavor. The meats in the pho were grey, boiled, chewy, very dry, and sadly, lacking in flavor. Also, as we sat and conversed, my broth appeared to separate out into its water and bullion components. As did everyone else's at our table. Not sure if this is how the broth is supposed to be as I have never seen this happen at other pho houses...so quality is in question here. Now the other little niggle I have is they do not serve beer, wine, or alcohol of any kind...and eating pho should be accompanied by at least 3 beers or several glasses of wine. So this was slightly less than ideal for me. Overall I have had way better, and somewhat worse. All in all...might come back...but there are a lot of pho places to try in H-Town so it might be a while. read more

This place is pho-king great. Pho-nominal. One of the best ... pho realz, y'all! I went today during peak lunchtime; the parking lot and restaurant were full, but we immediately snagged a table. Strange thing, though, the lights and A/C off--doors were propped open--but the register, soda cooler and kitchen (obviously) were up and running. Guess they had a generator. We (Crystal L and I) both ordered the same small beef pho with an order of spring rolls (great peanut sauce, and I'm more of a fish sauce kind of gal). My only complaints were that we were brought fried Vietnamese egg rolls at first, and the food rusher said they were out of spring rolls, but we saw a waitress with a plate of spring rolls. He quickly fixed that. And our plate of greens was missing bean sprouts. We didn't bother asking because by the time we realized it, we were full. I highly recommend this place for pho. I think I'm gonna go on a Vietnamese diet where all I eat is pho. All those fresh greens (bean sprouts, mint, cilantro), light on meat, lots of broth ... I'd be Keira Knightley in no time. read more

How to describe my love for this place? Pho Saigon is my favorite place for pho in Houston, and honestly one of my favorite restaurants in the world- it's incredibly speedy, cheap, infinitely casual, and always warm and smelling of broth no matter how cold it is outside. They serve up amazing, steaming bowls of pho (and many other kinds of Vietnamese food, if you peruse their expansive menu.) I usually get the #9 special combination, but everything here is so good, from the Vietnamese lemon soda to the beef stew with baguette. Their noodles have gotten me through hangovers and heartbreak. Go here. Eat here. Love Pho Saigon. P.S. "Go here" because takeout is not as fabulous of an experience. It's a hassle to deal with so many loose ingredients that go into pho, and most times the broth has cooled too much to effectively cook the raw meat slices. read more
