With a menu primed to elicit choice overwhelm, I was happy to find that the restaurant name tells you all you need to know to narrow down your choices- well kind-of. Pho being plentiful in Houston, visiting Pho Ben, I expected phenomenal pho. While I wouldn't say it's the best pho I've ever had, it's certainly solid. Apart from the pho, the restaurant crafts some surprisingly tasty tofu spring rolls, ones I'd encourage everyone to try atleast once (even if tofu spring rolls are not your typical jam). They also (atleast on this visit), did a fantastic job of seasoning their chicken. From a singular experience this seems to paint a picture of what they do best-the atmosphere felt as fresh as the spring rolls, embracing warm tones, plants, and natural light, and the care in service was a pleasant change. They did put my vermicelli, fish sauce and all in a styrofoam to go container, a situation just begging for disaster, but I allowed it so I'll take the heat for that one. Just know that the parking lot is shared so crowding is expected. Arri early or late to avoid the lunch and dinner rushes. read more

If one was going purely on ambiance alone, Bellaire's Pho Ben location is an easy aesthetic win. Their team clearly went above and beyond with the interior design, with thematic elements from the light fixtures to the furniture. The dining area feels bright and inviting, and is not just the best looking location amongst the chain, but certainly one of the best looking pho restaurants in the greater Houston area. While the vibes are on point, so too is the service. The staff works very hard at ensuring a quality experience for all and they've been attentive, professional, and super efficient during every visit. From large groups to solo dining sessions, I've always appreciated the efforts. There have been up-and-down moments with the pho, notably with how salty the broth has been but it's been largely a positive experience. When the pho is on point, it is very good and is no doubt the best in the neighborhood. The portions are not substantial by any stretch, but certainly sufficient enough for a filling meal. Pho is not their only claim to fame, but I would venture their mi bo kho (beef stew with egg noodles) is worth a look. For folks who enjoy dipping, the banh mi (bread) bo kho is also a good alternative. The lunch crowd is big on their bun bowls, their crispy cha gio, and banh mi options. Personally the bun thit nuong (grilled pork vermicelli) is always the default for yours truly. Even the Viet coffee is presented in slow-drip form. There is a small dedicated parking lot out front and the weekends are usually packed. Prices are fair in today's economy and an ideal location for groups and solo dining. I was in town for Miami for a conference and had been looking for some good Pho. After a lot of searching from TikTok in Google, I came across this place. Walking in the ambience was so nice. I love the set up. I love the decor. It almost felt like you were eating at a fancy establishment. Someone came to see me and my friends and they got some water right away. Shortly after they took our orders and for many of my friends, it was their first time eating pho so he suggested a few things which was very helpful. I must say this is some of the best pho I think I've ever had. It was so flavorful. I enjoyed every bit of it. I highly recommend this place. Food came out pretty fast. This beef stew was five pieces of meat in broth. The meat was over cooked and mostly fat. The broth tasted watered down. It came with a fresh baguette which was good. Some of the best veggie broth pho I've had! My main complaint with most place's veggie broth is that a lot of the time it just ends up tasting like vegetable soup. While I still haven't found a veggie pho that captures the same magic as its meat based counterpart, this place has come the closest. I was also shocked by how much I enjoyed their Thai tea. This used to be my go to. I would come here once every 2-3 weeks . But this time I noticed. They have made some changes. I ordered a large beef combo pho . There was about three tiny slices of meat. And 4 pounds of noodles . The noodles cost them like 25 cents a bowl so I get they are trying to save money and fill you up with noodles and put no meat. But this was a bit extreme . My bowl was left 60% noodles 39% broth lol I told the waiter and their response to me was "I'm just a worker so there is nothing I can do. Yeah sorry I hope your day gets better" lol they said that. My day is fine they don't want to accept that their pho was made bad for me and trying to say I was in a bad mood that's why I didn't like it. Those tactics don't work on me. I will have to say the food was good. but pricing is very expensive especially for the area and size bowl I got. I got a small but the bowl was $15 but I will say there was more meat in the bowl than typically other restaurants. I came here by myself because I wasn't feeling well and a bowl of pho sounds really good for lunch. I got a small bowl of pho and asked for a water with lemon. The food was brought out super quick, guessing they had everything prepped ahead of time to meet lunch rushes. I ate fairly quickly, within 20 minutes and then cashed out. Service was average but I didn't have anyone come by to check in with me. I had to flag someone to ask for a refill of water because the jalapenos were very spicy. I had a really disappointing experience at Pho Ben. I ordered the pork banh mi, which is a starred item on their menu, and found what was very clearly a hair in my food. One employee initially tried convincing me it was lemongrass, but after I pointed out the follicle attached to it, he seemed speechless and didn't know what to say. A second employee then acknowledged that it was hair. The workers weren't necessarily rude, but I was told it was "policy" not to make the meal free because that batch would just be replaced with a new one. They did void the item off the receipt, but the situation still felt very unhygienic and poorly handled overall. I came with a friend on Thursday night at 5 PM. The restaurant was already filling up but we got seated right away. The decorations were modern, with lots of tables to sit at. Service itself was very fast but quite impersonal/not very friendly. We did get our food very quickly though. They also forgot one of our orders but brought it out as soon as we asked about it. For food I had the: -SPRING ROLLS: Very tasty and fresh out of the fryer so it was hot. It also came with a good amount of pickled daikon/carrots. Good app choice. -BUN BO HUE: They gave two options of mild or spicy. I'm not a big spicy food person so I went with mild which ended up being a mistake, it was fairly bland so I would recommend going with the spicy in the future. There was a lot of meat though for a big portion and the noodles were cooked well. -BANH MI: Flavors were tasty but it was severely lacking in pate :( All in all, food itself was ok but nothing impressive since flavors did feel a bit muted. Additionally, service was just ok. Not sure we would go again if we were in the area since there's lots of other good Vietnamese options in Houston. read more

The pho is quite good and reasonable priced with appropriate portions. The spring rolls unfortunately were quite sad. I got the shrimp and pork and lemongrass beef. The shrimp and pork one tasted like nothing and the lemongrass beef was also very bland with the beer being quite tough. Nut allergy warning: The vermicelli comes with nuts. Pho is fine. We had a relatively large group and they don't have a space for it, just put some tables together. Orders were taken and food brought out relatively quickly (about 15 minutes for my pho). The pho bowl is smaller than others in the area. I could've definitely eaten more. Service was also a little off, as they brought an extra unordered Vietnamese coffee to our table, and then charged me for it. This is my new favorite pho spot. The restaurant wasn't too busy, and the service was great. Now on to the food... OMG!!! Delicious, I got a #16. The meat was so tender, the broth was so flavorful and the noodles were perfect. Of course I added hoisin, chili oil and sriracha. It was $12 for a small and $13 for a large. I got a small, but next time I will get a large. The chicken spring rolls were a hit too!! So good with the peanut sauce. The ambiance was nice. I've attached pictures as well! Never had to wait very long once you order. Ambience is pretty standard for a pho place. Pho itself is spot on here. I don't normally drink the broth at restaurants but if I were to, this would be on the top of my list. My only feedback is they could be more generous with the amount of basil they bring to the table. The spring rolls have a good texture and they do the peanut sauce right. I'm so happy there's finally a GOOD pho place in this area! It's great because I live in this area, and sometimes I don't want to drive all the way to Chinatown or Viet Town just for a bowl of pho. The inside here is extremely aesthetic with PLENTY of seating. The parking lot also has a lot of parking too. The restaurant is very easy to spot and get into. Service is great. We've always had our order taken right away and food brought up pretty quickly. Everything I've had from here is good, but my go-to order is the combination pho. One of four locations found throughout Houston metro area, Pho Ben Bellaire really surprised me in how good the beef pho was, considering the upscale ambience and the moderate prices. My brother, his son, and I ate here for Saturday dinner after his plans for a Mexican happy hour for us fell through. We found plenty of parking in shared parking lot. The inside is very modern and airy, with high ceilings, stylish lighting, and varied, smart seating for a variety of party sizes. It would be a fitting place for any size party, for any occasion. Living close to Orange County where the most number of Vietnamese restaurants are, I don't think I could say the same for any Pho restaurants close to us. We were seated promptly, and it took us a while to figure out what to order. My brother will over order, just so we can try different dishes, knowing that we could bring back any left overs. All pho was $13 for large bowl ($12 for small), and banh mi ($7). Pho Tai - eye of round steak. Pho Tai Gau Gan Sach - round steak, fatty brisket, soft tendon, tripe. I asked for them to add beef balls. It was superb, starting with the rice noodles being cooked just enough to separate and stay loose in the broth, but still have decent bite. All the meats had been prepared into proper sized pieces, and all had been perfectly cooked...with the added fresh bean sprouts, the texture profile of each bite was just amazing. It didn't need lime, and the basil added just that hint of fresh tang. And they gave enough noodle so I didn't have to ask for more. All this for under $15....that's a WOW. Cha Gio - Vietnamese Egg Rolls ($5.50) - two deep fried egg rolls, cut in half to allow 4 servings. I enjoyed the filling and the dipping sauce, but they should have given 4 leaves of green lettuce. They only gave two small ones, and the egg rolls were very greasy (not deep fried well). Got all 4 Banh Mi, each for $7. The combo classic (which is what I think about when thinking of Banh Mi), wasn't great. The bread was fresh and very good...but the filling ingredients disappointed. What is very good here is the chargrilled meats...we got one of each (chicken, pork, beef). I thought the pork was the best, since it had some fatty pieces which turned into a very flavorful mound when chargrilled. Strangely, I wish they had given less mean and more of the pickled vegetable mix that sits on top that makes a banh mi, a banh mi (besides the french bread which WAS very good). Even then, the pickled vegetables were very muted...would have preferred a lot more tang and bite. Com Bo Luc Lac ($17) - Steamed Rice dishes with flame broiled filet mignon. Another WOW dish. Who is their supplier that they can afford to serve these many chunks of beef tenderloin for such a value price. I ended up bringing most of this back to the hotel (which doesn't have a microwave). But the stir fried red onion along with the tender beef chunks....this is the dish for a beef lover who doesn't care for the lemongrass, fish sauce flavors prevalent in SE asian cooking. Instead it was a light soy sauce based marinade that accentuated the tenderness and offset the mineraliness of the filet...a dish to be served proudly at any type of restaurant. Service was excellent throughout. Did I mention the texture of each bite of the noodle soup? This might be at the top of my list of pho eaten for overall completeness. That and the very reasonable prices for quality ingredients are what I will remember most about this place. read more

My parents wanted to try this place because they heard good reviews. They are extremely judgmental about Vietnamese food and pho in particular. Their verdict was "good" which is a raving review from them. Pho Ben is a place that is trying very hard to cater to a broader crowd but also trying to maintain its roots. The place is decorated beautifully with aesthetic design hanging from the ceilings and lavishing the walls. They had a sign in front hiring workers that also spoke Vietnamese. The patrons were primarily non-Asian, showing that it appeals to beyond just the typical Asian crowd. Overall, the pho was good, maybe a little more expensive than the traditional mom and pop pho places for about $12 for a "small" bowl but a large bowl was only a $1 more. Portion size was good and overall no complaints. They had much more options and I'd love to see their takes on other traditional Vietnamese food. read more

Whoever designed/decorated the interior is brilliant. I couldn't help to admire the decorations it was beautiful!!
