Authentic pho! I have been to many pho restaurants throughout the country is one of the better ones that I have been to. With seat yourself, the restaurant has a casual feel to it. I decided on take out because I needed to get on the road. I was really excited to try their bubble tea flavors but unfortunately they didn't have any boba. Their fresh spring rolls were rolled perfectly but very tasteless unless you dipped them into the peanut sauce. Which was amazing. But three of the pho dishes were very bland. I also ordered the pork with vermicelli noodles. I expected more flavor. For a pho shop they lacked the flavor. I asked for spicy and I understand for to go orders you mix in your own sauce but we got the same sauce for the non spicy as I got for the spicy. They got three stars because everyone was very friendly. That's hard to find nowadays. Maybe a dining in experience is better but I wasn't impressed with takeout. read more

Yeah this was bad... Like, really bad.. Server (who I assume was also the owner or manager) was rude throughout and the food was just bad. I got noodle soup and everything in it was insanely rubbery and tasted very off. Like it was expired almost. My girlfriend got the fried rice, which seems hard to mess up, but the chicken was terrible, the vegetables were an absolute mess, and the rice was bad too. Then just to make it better, I got sick when I got home. I'm not one to trash restaurants on Yelp. Or review them at all for that matter. But this was just awful. read more

The Vietnamese pho here is excellent! I ordered number 24 large - steak pho (imagine the best steak broth with great flavor fresh cilantro, vegetables) with tons of steak! I travel for work and know great pho! I know Lynchburg tends to be traditional in its tastes, but anyone would love this soup! Great for a nice winter dinner and take-out too! Love Saigon-Palace. We ate here for the first time on Sunday and had to come back for more. The #14 combo vermicelli is great! They even swapped the rice noodles for egg noodles when asked. Large portions and friendly service. The Pho soup bowls are very tasty and large. read more

Lynchburg has been in the dark ages for a while when it comes to food like this. I was soooo excited when I heard that we finally had a Pho place in town. I was blown away and have been ever since. I have eaten in the restaurant and ordered take out, every time the portions are huge!! I love it. They don't skimp on any ingredient. Often restaurant will say the dish includes basil and you find a piece or two... here they give you a mountain of basil and other ingredients EVERY time. The flavors are sooo fantastic!! I have been going to this restaurant for over a year and the food is great. My heart is crushed because I went in there around graduation time and they said they didn't have any more tables but there were some not cleaned off and she claimed they were reserved. This past Sunday I go in and there are several booths that need to be cleaned off, but the staff keeps doing other things except cleaning off the tables and not acknowledging that we are standing there. The mind-blowing moment was when they did clean off two tables, they still did not acknowledge us. This is not acceptable and should be known to the public and not be allowed. Came here because of the Yelp! reviews and was not disappointed. I actually like it more than regular place I go to for pho in Alexandria. The food was excellent, the service was ok but the staff was very friendly. I had the vermicilli with pork which was top notch, the fresh spring rolls, top notch. We explained to the waitress that we do not eat beef or chicken when we first arrived. We ordered two shrimp vermicelli for my wife and I and an order of shrimp fried rice for the kids to split. When our food was delivered the rice came out with chicken in it, not shrimp. We explained to the waitress again that we do not eat chicken and the order should've been shrimp rice. She came back several minutes later with the shrimp fried rice. When I first looked through the rice I saw what looked like a piece of chicken but she assured me it was egg... It wasn't long before both kids discovered huge pieces of chicken in the rice... It was clear that she tried to take out the chicken from the rice and add the shrimp.. All said and done the kids pulled out at least a chicken sandwich size amount of pieces... This to us was a major issue, had my children not been use to eating eggs and some seafood, this could have made them very sick! We also paid $12 for the rice and $13 each for the shrimp vermicelli... It's basically rice noodles, a few veggies, shrimp and fish sauce... This can be made at home for a few dollars, and pennies if you leave the shrimp off. That was our 4th visit and our last. read more

Went for pho as I was trying to get over a cold. Ordered a small House Special (#24) for $8.25. It was great! I've been eating Vietnamese for over 20 years in the Worcester, MA area and would put the Saigon Palace up against any other I've tried. I wanted to get more veggies and some leftovers so I order a Rice Plate (#42) with chicken. It's a vegetable stir fry served with white rice and your choice of protein. The sauce was very flavorful, the veggies were cooked but still crunchy and hot off the wok! The cook was sitting near me watching the Pats/Bronco game in between orders so I let him know I liked the sauce and the garlic flavor and confirmed that when the menu states they use a fish sauce they mean they use Nuc Mam as an ingredient. Very friendly staff and I was the only non-Vietnamese customer during my time there... which says something to me about the flavor and authenticity of the dishes. As I was staying in a hotel for my business trip, the cook accommodated my request for a plastic "to go" container so I could microwave it and another portion of rice. read more

I have never written a review on Yelp before. I didn't think it was worth my time and energy - UNTIL I tried SAIGON PALACE by BigLots! Off of Timberlake Rd. in Lynchburg, VA. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DIVINE! I'm from Southern Cal. and we had A LOT of Vietnamese restaurants there...when I moved here, there were none :( Originally, a place called Otani was there. It was was a Japanese/Vietnamese restaurant. I was excited to eat there since I LOVE VIETNAMESE FOOD! But sadly, that restaurant was a failure in their basic dishes (Pho', fish sauce, bbq pork and rice were terrible - how could you open a Vietnamese restaurant without being at the very least good at making those?!). I won't go into much detail about how disappointing their food was there because thankfully, they are no longer there.....in its place, (cue angelic music) SAIGON PALACE opened!!!! I was really hesitant to come back to that place since when I had gone there it was under the name Otani (yuck), and the food was bland and cold to say the least. But I love vietnamese food so much that I thought I'd give SAIGON PALACE a try....I was so happy I did because the PHO' was just like the Pho' at home if not better! Oh, how I rejoiced! I legit, delicious vietnamese place near my home! It is under new owners, has new cooks and new servers! I am planning to go back there this Sun. :) If you find something good...support them, I say. Hence, I've taken my time and energy to let you know that this place exists, in hopes that you would also enjoy the same great food that I had (and all honestly, so that it'll stay open so that I could keep eating there!) :) Too bad the restaurant before it (Otani) was terrible, I hope that people could differentiate and give SAIGON PALACE a try!
