This is one of those simple unassuming restaurants that offers exceptional food. Sort of a hole in the wall, but the food is always fresh and amazing. We order the pho, vermicelli bowls, fresh spring rolls, shrimp toast, boba, and Thai iced tea, most of the time. We are always leave happy, always, and usually with an order of the ready made pandan gelatin treat. Friendly and efficient staff, clean tables, great food and beverages, what's not to love. We actually crave the food and make special trips a couple times a year. We should probably try some other things, but we love the number 2, 6, 10, and 41 so much, we can't seem to move on. I absolutely adore this place. Having lived in Vietnam for three years during my early twenties I was so excited to find this place. If I could eat Vietnamese food every day for the rest of my life I would, I mush prefer it to anything we have here. The food is amazing and every time I eat here I feel at "home" again. The staff is also always super friendly and often remember me even if it has been a year or more since I've been able to go in! This was our second time at Pho Soc Trang, but it's been a long time! We loved the depth of the broth, and the portions were huge! My husband also got a bubble tea, which was frozen like a smoothie, and SO delicious! We also loved the egg rolls- I personally think the breading-to-filling ratio for these smaller egg rolls was better than the traditional egg roll shape! Probably some of the best pho broth I've had - very beefy & rich but clean in its flavor. Lots of meat (as you can see in the pic). Ingredients were nice and fresh. Seriously though, some of the best Pho I've had in a long time. The spring roll also, very fresh & tasty (shrimp was so good). The sauce they have for the spring rolls was different than what I've had before (less emphasis on peanut flavor) and had a good kick ( )...I ended up throwing a little of it in my Pho. Friendly staff and quick turnaround. Heads up close to noon on a Sunday, good luck finding a place to park. I ended up having to go for street parking. I'm from California so i've been looking for Vietnamese food that reminds me of home. The banh xeo is delicious!! super crispy and very filling!! I would definitely get it again. The banh canh is like a thick seafood noodle soup. For me personally it was a little too salty, so make sure to squeeze a lot of lime in it. I grew up coming to this spot and have always gravitated towards other pho restaurants because I feel like their broth is a little too oily for my taste, but given it's been a couple of years, I wanted to try it again! This is a very unassuming spot but one of the original pho restaurants in GR. It's next to the Vietnamese store, which is why I stopped in, and had really easy parking! While the parking lot is a little pot-hole filled, we didn't have any issues. I was craving pho so I knew what I wanted immediately and we received our orders pretty quickly. The serving size was huge and I think the broth was very flavorful, but unfortunately some of the meat was too chewy for me that I couldn't even swallow it. I eventually picked around that and just ate the noodles, some of the broth and the pieces of meat that I could chew. Maybe next time, I'll order something different than the house combination to avoid the chewier and harder pieces. Otherwise, I would say this is a solid place to get pho and enjoy! My go-to place for pho for many, many, many years! P20 Beef ball, tendon and tripe. I love the broth and it comes out quickly! If I can't eat it all (which rarely happens, I'll get two to-go cups, one for noodles and the other for broth so the noodles don't soak up all the broth before next time. I also pick up a tapioca dessert with sweet bananas. You don't go here for the environment, but the owner is usually there and will remember you! It's a smaller place and typically packed on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Pro Tip: Time your bathroom trip before or after arrival - they have one outside the restaurant in the plaza area...that's all I will say. read more

This was my first pho experience. I was unsure what to order so just did what my friend did. She had only been once before but that's what she had her first time as well (#10 - beef pho). The service was very quick and I want to say we had our food out within 5 minutes of ordering. The accoutrements that came along with the bowl were bean sprouts, Thai basil, lime and a spicy bowl of some sort (which was VERY spicy). TBH, I had been looking at a few different restaurants. Lol I ordered the #48 com suon (pork chop w rice and added an egg). The pork chop was just ok, nothing stood out flavor wise and you got just one and it was a bit fatty. Their garlic fish sauce was good, it seemed more on the garlicky side tho?! Quick, tasty and filling! We came towards the end of the night and still got very speedy and friendly service. The pho was great, the broth was rich and flavorful and the noodles were perfect. I liked the sliced beef but wasn't a huge fan of the sausage type meat or the tripe, so next time will probably just get the sliced beef- there were certainly plenty of options. Came here on a Sunday at 11:45 and just beat a large rush. The restaurant was filled by 12:10. We ordered their pho ga (chicken pho), egg rolls, and the 53 pork chop and charbroiled meatballs. The atmosphere is a no frills place with as many tables and chairs packed in as possible to a small restaurant and they need them. The food came out quick and it was delish. I love pho and this place had a great broth. The garnish plate was packed with leafy greens, Thai basil, bean sprouts, and jalapeños. They also bring out hot oil and have a tray on your table for any other sauce you may want. The egg rolls were bite size deep fried nuggets of delicious meat. Get these. I usually order Pho Tai and it comes with plenty of beef that is cut a little bigger and thicker than other places so you can really taste the flavor of the meat. The rolls were a bit too soggy and the pork had a slight off smell 2. Bun Bo Huế - 2/5. The soup broth did not have the usual beef flavor we were hoping to taste. It was dark and murky and super salty. The pork hock also had a hair and a slight aroma. 3. Crispy fried lo mien w everything - 2/5. The lô miền was fried crispy but there was hardly any mixed vegetables, pork, and 3 small shrimp. Again, the sauce was too dark and super salty as well. We left almost the whole plate untouched. Speed - 4/5. The dishes came out fairly quickly Service - 3/5. The ladies came out on occasion but noticed the wipe downs were cursory. Price - 3/5. Average value for the price. Overall - 2/5. As always - another honest review! Monday came with an unbearable amount of work and zero desire to cook for my small family of two, (can you imagine when it's 4/5? yikes). Happily, my husband suggested we try the Pho restaurant on Division St, as it's only five minutes away from our residence. I'm quite undecided on the rating I should give. There are many factors I like to consider, such as, cleanliness, ambiance, the staff and the food. We arrived at 7.40 p.m. a few minutes shy of their closing time at 8.30 p.m. we got seated right away, with menus and two glasses of water. We were the only customers inside the restaurant. The waitress, whom I assume must have some ownership of the restaurant came by to take our orders. My biggest pet peeve - regardless of how good a humans memory may be - is seeing a waiter or waitress not write down the order down. Why? Because we're forgetful. My husband ordered shrimp fried rice, pho with beef balls, tripe and beef, I ordered the spicy beef vermicelli soup and an order of coconut bubble tea. Minutes after our order was placed a party of six came in. Same procedure. Our food came out rather quickly to which I was impressed, but both soups lacked flavor and spice. My soup was not spicy at all, and the broths for both soups were underwhelming - they were missing a huge wow factor! Their fried rice was really addicting, it was the star of the show that evening. The food was good ... but not the best. The food portions are amazing as in they're big and worth every penny. The waitress who was meant to keep an eye on us was MIA. We never got refills on waters and I never got my coconut bubble tea, even though the party of six ALL got their bubble teas. The ambiance of the restaurant was calm and quiet when we arrived, very clean and orderly. They started to get busy minutes before they closed. This has been a GR restaurant on my periphery for a while and I finally had a chance to pass through it's doors on a dreary March day. The building itself is authentically hole-in-the-wall. A gentleman who worked there rose from where he was sitting and simply gestured to a table to sit at, a tad haunting but direct. But you are here for food, right? I asked for the most popular dish and I was directed to the Rare Beef with Rice Noodle soup. Before the steaming bowl of deliciousness came out I received a plate full of mix-ins. THIS IS NOT A SALAD DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE OKAY. I'm not super familiar with Vietnamese food, but this was a good start. The broth was delicious and the beef itself came rare and then cooked in the soup which allowed me to consume it according to my preference. The soup overall was quite good. HOWEVER those little soc trang style egg rolls were sooo good. Savory and crispy... I could eat a whole meal of just those, highly recommend. Overall, solid experience. Even though I was confused with the mix-ins plate and directions on how to pay - go up to the register - and could have used a little bit more of a attentive service experience, I will certainly be going back for more. read more

This is a small restaurant. Not quite tiny but big enough for the purpose. There really isn't much of an atmosphere. It's clean and brightly lit. I order a #2 Gio Cuon (Spring Rolls) and the #15 Pho Chin, Well cooked beef and rice noodles. The Gio Cuon was yucky, I did not like it at all. Just a weird taste that wasn't for me. The Pho Chin was excellent. I put in some hot oil, which certainly spiced it up. The base broth was amazing, so much flavor. The beef was very tasty. The bowl is very big and only $7. I was filled up with just the Pho. The service was not great, in fact it was below average. The place wasn't busy either. When I first got the it took a couple of minutes to get a menu. Once I did I barely had 30 seconds before a guy was going what number? I knew I wanted Pho, but needed time to pick which one. When I did pick he had trouble understanding the number I said. He then disappeared to never be seen again. My Pho got dropped off and was never asked how it was. It took for ever to get 1st water refill. 2nd refill was much faster. While nobody was the least bit of rude it was a dry atmosphere personality wise. One other different thing was Vietnamese chop sticks seem thicker, which took some getting used too. Overall I'll give 4 stars due to the excellent Pho. Would I return? I think I would. I'd like to try #41 Bun Bi Cha Gio, shredded pork and egg rolls with vermicelli. Or #48 Com/Con Tam Xuon, Pork Chop with steam rice. The prices here are great. I'm pretty sure everything is below $10. read more

Since I reviewed "Pho Anh Trang Restaurant", I might as well review Pho Soc Trang Restaurant. Pho Soc Trang Restaurant is so much better than Pho Anh Trang Restaurant. I've been to Pho Soc Trang Restaurant 2 times already. I have been to Pho Anh Trang Restaurant only once. Why waste money on food that is terrible. Seriously. A restaurant having a bad day is NOT good for anyone. Consistency wins the battle. Pho Soc Trang Restaurant is superior in every way. Taste and all. I'm told Pho Soc Trang is the sister restaurant. Still. Doing it better. I'm sure I will be back again eventually. HINT: Pho Soc Trang pre-salt the broth so be careful. If you add Hoisin too early and too much, your broth will be VERY SALTY. Pho Soc Trang is a hidden gem found behind Sieu Thi Kim Nhung Super Store / Wei Wei Palace. There is parking in the front and the back of the store! You can walk through the store to go on either side. The restaurant is a bit stuffy at peak hours as people fill all of the tables and there are only a few workers. It's not the cleanest as customers are constantly going in and out. Nonetheless the food comes out fast and the flavors are amazing! Portions are large and quality is on point. The combination fried rice is one of the best fried rice I've had in GR! Will definitely have to stop by again to try other dishes!! read more

We stopped here for our first Pho experience. The place is a little run down but liked by locals. If you are not going there for the atmosphere but the food, then you should be content. Having this be our first Pho, I feel that I can't compare it to anything. I will say you will get a lot of food per bowl. They are not cheap with the meat. You will have plenty in each bowl, if it comes with it. The flavor was good and can be tweeted to your liking with the sauces that are on each table. The "brown" sauce was good although I have no idea what it was. The vegetables were fresh and can be added to your liking per bowl. The broth was tasty especially with the added sauce. I would give it a try if you're in the area. I am not sure if it will be a repeat for us. Maybe after another Pho experience, I can decide where this one falls better. read more
