It had been a while since our last visit. We plan on going back to regular weekly visits. The food was AWESOME. We had the House Special Lo mein and sweet and sour chicken. They use the thin rice noodles and it was filled with plenty of chicken, pork, beef and shrimp. We love the sweet and sour sauce here. It is deep red with a touch of vinegar in the sauce and they let you have the sauce on the side so the chicken batter is crunchy. We also had the Vietnamese egg rolls and crab cheese. Sooo delicious. The food is absolutely bomb here, I would suggest asking the owner what they recommend on the menu as he knows the best dishes on the menu. The lo mein was delicious especially since they use a thinner style noodle. The crispy shrimp, however was my favorite dish out of the two I tried. I ate here years ago when they had Pho. Today I decided to try it for the Chinese food. This place isn't bad, but nothing really stood out. It will be hard to entice me To go back. Let me tell you why. Ambience/Interior. Outdated. Dark and dimly lit. There was a TV looping Asian street food which looked amazing something the food wasn't. Food. Hot tea is something all Chinese restaurants get right. A simple pot of oolong. Nope. It wasn't even lukewarm. And it had actual tea bag in meaning they probably used warm tap water and added a bag. The appetizers were good. Fried food is something you can't really get wrong. The Eggrolls threw me off with the addition of celery. Traditionally not in Chinese Eggrolls. The soup was hot, very hot. However I would've liked the nappa cabbage cut smaller. Literally ate a dollar bill size leaf. The fried rice was the only dish that was decent. Smoky and the rice was perfect with just the right amount of seasoning. I would order this dish again. Lomein? No. It's not bad but it's just a weird noodle dish with very thin noodles. Never had lomein like this before. Now the two dishes that can't be wrong, are totally different. The General Tso sauce was literally sweet and sour! Not what I expected. The Sezuan was too sweet of a sauce and not spicy. Perhaps this is just what I'm accustomed to but I was not a fan. Other things, they charge a 15% auto gratuity on groups of 4+. Cool, but you would probably get a bigger tip if not. Yeah, love to support mom and pops all the way however you must adapt to the times. Some upgrades here and there will go a long way. read more

After eating pho at Pho Sac Trang and Golden 28 I thought I would never like pho. Then I gave it one more try at Far East and learned that I love pho. It turns out I never hated pho, its just everyone else's pho sucks!!!... As I said in an earlier review about Golden 28 and how if you like their food you must be smoking meth, Far East must sprinkle crack in their pho because it is addictive. The food was not bad at all, cravings satisfied. The waitress was very nice but the service was so slow. There were only five people in the entire restaurant: us and the other three people across from us. The food took 35 mins. Oddly enough, I timed it because that's a norm thing I do after I've waited for food for ten mins at a restaurant and they don't check in with me. Overall, a good experience - with the caveat that the restaurant smells as if it hasn't been cleaned since 1966. If you get past that little detail - and don't mind MSG - you'll be all set. Started with crab rangoon that was fresh and hot. Plum sauce served with it was great. Then on to the wonton soup, with wife opting for the egg drop soup. We each thought our choice was best! For the next course, I had a chicken - shrimp dish that was delicious. Served with a huge amount of fluffy white rice - enough for a Chinese Army regiment. I did my best, but hardly made a dent. Took 3/4ths home! Wife had an even better main course - a pork chop in a beautiful brown gravy over more white rice. It was amazing. Next time, I'm doing that dish. Even the fortune cookies were crisp and edible, and the predictions spot on, we hope. Apparently much good luck lies ahead. One tip - ask for limited or no MSG. just now Ordered orange chicken, curry chicken, appetizers for two, wonton soup, and Vietnamese coffee. I can say, without hesitation, that this is one of the best sit-down experiences I've had in a while. The Vietnamese coffee came out first, in original, individual carafes. I had never seen this before, and it was very neat to watch and experience. The coffee itself was fantastic, and I now have a new love for it. The wonton soup was fantastic, and the appetizers were crunchy and satisfying. All of the items are deep-fried and a bit heavy. If I had to pick a favorite, I'd suggest the crab Rangoon and fried wontons; they were the most flavorful. The eggrolls are peppery and fresh, but they just weren't my personal favorite. Both the orange chicken AND the curry chicken were fresh, savory, and mild in spice. They're so much better than I was expecting. They truly taste homemade, and not overwhelmingly salty or heavy. Overall, I KNOW I'll be back for more. They deserve a much higher rating than they have now. I highly recommend anyone interested in Chinese, Vietnamese, and/or Korean food to give it a chance. First and last time going there. As you enter there's a bad smell. The place definitely needs to be remodeled. The food was terrible. The shrimp fried rice tasted old, like they just reheated it before serving & was bland. Sesame chicken was so dry and needed more flavor. So I had my first experience with Vietnamese food today at Far East and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I had the Pho and it was quite good. It was fresh tasting and surprisingly filling. We had it to-go and they give you a container of piping hot broth (very fragrant), a to-go box filled with rare beef (that was my choice anyway), noodles, bean sprouts, Vietnamese basil, onion, cilantro, lime, jalapeno, scallion, and two little containers, one with hoisin, and one with a chili sauce, i imagine it to be sriracha. Pour that all in a large bowl and the broth cooks the rare beef.. YUM! I will definitely be back to try something else! read more

When you walk into this place, it smells like insectocide or some kind of chemical spray. Their fried rice is decent and is better than the ones at chicken and rice. Their pho is pretty bad. The noodles seem to be soaked in water way too long. So when you eat it, it is kind of mushy and breaks off easily. I would come here for rice dishes, but not pho for sure. read more

Longtime patron of the restaurant, my favorite items on the menu consist of the Pho (Vietnamese soup/meal), spring rolls, and vietnamese egg rolls. Don't let the location fool you, being next to a bingo hall, the food there is excellent. Depending on the time of day, it may take a little while for you to get your food. That being said, it doesn't bother me because the food is well worth the wait (if there is one). read more

Food is good (we picked among the Vietnamese selections) and the hospitable service gets them that fourth star for serving us so close to closing time and smiling so nicely about it! I haven't been to this place in 2 years or so. I was kind of hoping the pho would taste the same (my husband ordered it, I tasted the broth) it doesn't. The broth lacks a lot of flavor. It does not taste rich nor does it have that beef flavor. It was a small bowl. My 5 year old finished an entire bowl. As for me, I ordered the the rice plate! Now that was delish! I ordered takeout from here. They told us 30-40 minutes until our order was ready. I feel like usually places have it ready sooner rather than later, so we showed up 30 minutes later. Well, 30 minutes passed, 40 minutes, 50 minutes and it was STILL NOT READY! She told us "they're working on it". There were only 3 tables seated and only one table had their food. Another guy came in to pick up his order that also wasn't ready. He told us that he had been waiting over an hour for his. The food is ok but not worth that wait. Husband ordered orange chicken and it most definitely did not taste like orange chicken. I'm not sure if they gave us the wrong thing or not but all it tasted like was Chinese five spice. Brought two teenage boys to eat their first bowl of Pho. They are huge ramen and pad Thai eaters. Thought they would be blown away with the size and complexity of flavor in one of my favorite noodle dishes. Yes, I caught a whiff of the insecticide or cleaning fluid smell when I walked in. Fortunately the smell did not follow us to our booth. The staff was very friendly and willing to be patient with the endless questions about pho from the boys. The wait for our food did seem a little long but it was delivered with a smile. Both boy's eyes popped out of their head when the huge piping hot bowls of fragrant pho were delivered. Our pho was accompanied by a heaping plate of bean sprouts, Thai basil, limes, and jalapeno slices (wish I would have had some cilantro and Thai peppers instead of the jalapeno). The boys were not as enthused about the pho as I thought they would be.
