Fast service. It's very much order at the front, get a buzzer, seat yourself and pick up once the buzzer rings. It's also self bus yourself. I do find that hard if you don't end up eating all the soup and noodles. It gives homey vibes but also new and clean. Lots of parking available. My favorite would def be the chicken Karaage. I was there on a weekday afternoon. The tables were sticky. The vents are dirty. But the main thing is the food. I ordered a dish with chicken, rice, and noodles and theoretically a spicy sauce. It was just goop. The sauce tasted like it was straight out of something from Gordon foods. It was edible. But like I say, there is nothing that tasted authentic about the dish. I got the Orochon Miso ($12) and it was really good! It was better than the Hakata Classic ramen I got last time. This has a little kick to it, which I really loved. Broth was really flavorful. The pork was good, but could have more flavor to it. The way they presented my dish to go was nice, so nice job for presentation! After tip, it came out to around $15 which is pretty decent for a big bowl of ramen. I would recommend this dish! read more

Stilll my favorite place to go in GR - hands down. My wife and I call this our little secret date spot. The spicy chicken cup is my favorite item on the menu, so much so that I refuse to try anything else (and I've been here over a dozen times)! I like to get the fried gyoza with it as well, if I'm famished. We adore the anime / game play throughs on the tvs, as it gives it a unique lofi chill ambiance. The tables are typically clean and well kept; self-serve stations are decent as well. My wife even planned a surprise birthday party for me here last year! This will forever be my go-to for date night or a rainy evening where I just want to get out of the house... The staff always seem super bubbly and happy to be there. 10/10 would eat here again and regularly if we lived in the area. Came to town to visit with friends and they suggested ramen for dinner, since this location was across the street it was totally convenient. We were greeted immediately by several very friendly staff members who were eager to answer any and all questions we had. Our group ordered chicken katsu with rice, and chicken bulgogi bowls. The portions were generous, we were able to take some home, and very filling. I especially liked the bulgogi sauce, but would ask for it on the side or a little less next time. The chicken katsu was crispy and delicious, and edamame was nice and salty. If you are in the area stop in! Bonus points for playing anime and cartoon on their tvs, and the ramen wall. read more

1. Service was good. The people working there were nice . 2. The building was clean. They had on some chill music on. 3. Getting our order right took a couple tries. The cashier wasn't the best at speaking so pointing to the menu items made it easier. The part that bothered me was The food was tasteless or overly salty . There was no in between . The ramen had wayyyy too much SOY sauce. The rice was so dry you would thought it's been sitting out sunbathing . Tofu was cooked well on one side but not the second half. My girlfriend liked this spot more than I did. Don't be deterred from trying it by any means. I just found my ramen to be lacking depth of flavor compared to other ramen spots. If you have an itch for Ramen, this will do! It's GR so we didn't have super high expectations for Ramen, but it definitely hit the spot. This is a very casual restaurant where you order at the counter, get handed a buzzer while waiting for your food, and you bus your own dishes like Panera. My husband tried the Hakata classic while I tried the modern - the difference being the strong garlicky and salty flavors in the modern version. Both were tasty although maybe I would've liked an amount of flavor in between the two! The pork belly was delicious and tender as was the ramen egg. Like everywhere else, they are in need of help. There was one woman running the register/taking orders and cleaning and just one guy in the back cooking, but food came out quickly and was delicious. We will be back! read more

Finally got a chance to try this place. Living by the lakeshore we don't get out to east side of GR very often. Noodles and broth both delicious and not too greasy. I was disappointed to see things like the egg and tofu were extra ( I got the miso ramen) I did not ask so maybe they do this but I would love a build your own option, as I would have liked to swap out some items. Ordered the Hakata modern and orochan brave. The hakata modern is a tonkatsu style. The broth was very rich and flavorful with a strong roasted garlic flavor. The orochan brave was also tonkatsu style with a heavy layer of spicy oil that complemented the dish well. The noodles are thicker than some ramen I've had with a distinct wheat taste. Not my favorite noodle but that's more personal preference. The ramen egg was the best ramen egg I've had. Lightly marinated and perfectly salty. The yolk could have been slightly more runny, it was not quite the texture of a typical ramen egg, but the flavor was spectacular. They were very accommodating and friendly. I love this place! It is great at being exactly what it is = a very casual, relaxed spot to get a quality bowl of ramen. The portion sizes are generous; I can't finish one in one sitting. It's primarily counter service and counter pick-up, no waitstaff, and you bus your own table - which is another reason I love coming here = when I'm busy and need to work at my table, I don't want to have waitstaff hovering with the check. If no tables were available and people were waiting to get in, I'd pack up, but I tend to deliberately time in a late lunch so there's no rush. Parking isn't generous, but I haven't ever had a problem getting a spot. The chefs and the counter staff have always been extremely courteous. I rarely ever leave without someone saying have a great day, or thanks for coming, small thing maybe, but crazy how many places act like customers are putting them out, so I appreciate courtesy. read more

After visiting Japan last summer, I have been craving a good bowl of ramen. I saw Sapporo was located near a stop for us in GR and took my son for a long anticipated bowl of hotness! Unfortunately, Sapporo didn't deliver. Maybe its because I was spoiled with the real thing last year and are comparing it unfairly? I dont know but... I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen. It came with a very nice portion of pork chatchu (roasted pork belly slices), half soft boiled egg, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots and some shaved scallions. The tonkotsu broth is a bone based broth that is cloudy and typically rich with flavors. The broth in my bowl while looking nice lacked flavor. It was warm, not hot and without the richness I was expecting. It just lacked any depth to it's taste. The noodles were properly cooked to a good bite. However, the portion was lacking in my opinion. I'm used to getting 25-35% more noodles in a dish this size and was quite disappointed. When you are paying $10-11 for a bowl of ramen, skimping on 20 cents worth of ramen noodles just doesn't cut it and left a bad taste in my mouth. (no pun intended). The staff was friendly and helpful. They had some Japanese imported sodas that were good. But, overall I was a bit disappointed. Sapporo just didn't fill the craving I had for a steamy hot bowl of noodles and goodness. read more

This *was* my go to place for ramen because the soups are rich and flavorful and their noodles are textured perfectly until my most recent visit. They had a change in supplier and their udon noodles are now of terrible quality. In the picture, you can see it splitting apart. I was shocked that they even served the udon noodles in that condition. It disintegrates in the broth. Other than that, the broth is still great, but noodles are equally important to ramen. read more

We came here for dinner around 645 on a holiday. It was pretty busy but definitely still tables available. They were out of rice by this time since they were so busy. I typically lean more towards rice dishes than ramen itself but I decided this would be the perfect time to try something new. We love gyoza so got those to try, really flavorful, lots of ginger, better than most! The chicken karaage was also super tasty. The chicken was moist abs flavorful, although we wanted more of the yummy sauce on top. As I mentioned, I'm not a huge ramen fan. I asked for a recommendation and was so pleasantly surprised! The hakata modern was perfect for me! The garlic oil in the broth was really potent, which I loved! My husband said it was a bit much for him. I tried his Sapporo miso and thought it was a little bland. The portions are huge and they really fill it up with noodles. We will definitely be back. Although, I'll likely only stick to ramen with that garlic oil, it added so much flavor. read more
