At first, it looked like every table was reserved. The server said no, it is to make sure the tables are clean. I saw "dumplings and dumplings" on the menu so I had to try it. It turns out that you have to walk up to the counter to order. The counter attendant repeated back "dumplings with extra dumplings." The dish arrived very hot. The broth was outstanding. Any additions like soy, fish or sirracha sauce would have wrecked it. I got my own water from the big soda dispenser and there were cut limes to squeeze in. I reviewed this place years ago when they had great customer service and gave 5 stars, but no more. If you are disabled (or hearing or visually impaired) don't bother. Even if you clearly tell them what you want they will basically point to the bottom of the receipt and say it's your fault it's wrong. I'd take some accountability if there weren't three people with me who heard my order or people talking as the lady at the counter said what I ordered. She pointed and I told her I couldn't see the writing. On top of that, what they gave me in lieu of what I ordered, tasted pretty awful. I'm not even sad about the review. All the employees had an opportunity to do right but chose to ignore or argue the fact that I ordered something else and didn't like what they served me. I've been coming here for over 3 years. Their food is delicious. The people are so kind and welcoming and always down to chat. They recently redid the interior and it looks so beautiful. The woman manning the counter refused to correct our orders despite not having confirmed the numbers with us or confirming our orders. When asking for the manager, he was immediately stand-offish and accused me of saying the server did not do her job. He also refused to correct the order, so we just left. This is more of a fast food pho spot where you order at the counter and they bring it out to you. Rockford has limited Vietnamese restaurants so this is pretty much one out of the 2-3 options. Food was mediocre at best... flavors were terrible, barely any broth in the pho compared to noodles and other ingredients and the vegetables were raw while the tofu was cooked but not seasoned whatsoever. My mother ordered the stir fry which had literally the same ingredients as the pho but udon noodles instead of rice noodles which were over cooked and mushy. The stir fry also had way too much sauce with the same issues as the ingredients in the pho, raw noodles and poorly cooked tofu. The smoothies were ok but the tapioca pearls were chalky in texture. Whether you support the mask thing or not this is a poor decision for a business to make. So today we stopped in to place an order. We followed the mask request and proceed to try and place our order. Now between the 3 layers of plexiglass and a dining room full of unmasked people talking the girl can't hear us. So I pull my mask down to talk more clear and she pulls hers down to snap at me and tell me to put my mask on. It kind of threw me back since there was such a level of protection between her and myself. So I shook it off and turned to ask another person in our party what they wanted and then she tells me again to put my mask on. Mind you I have had it on the whole time and just pulled it down twice. Once because she was having a problem hearing our order and the second because the person I was trying to talk to is hard of hearing. After that we just canceled our order and left. I will never give this place another chance even if they offered a lifetime of Boba! If a business wants to pick and chose who they take money from they will have to try and survive on that business model. I hope more people do not support this place because of how they handled themselves with something so stupid. If I could give this place negative stars I would. Not sure why this place any stars in the first place except maybe there isn't much to compare it to. Let's start with everything wrong with this place. 1. Server asked me to put my mask on so that she could serve me food. The other server already gave me my drink and I was in the middle drinking it. 2. Why do they need my full name and phone number? They didn't text me when the food was ready or anything. Honestly I agreed to these "terms" prior to ordering so that's my fault. 3. Rules everywhere in the restaurant. Look anywhere and there is a rule about something. Be sure to put your plates away. 4. No returns. Not sure what this one is about. They have a sign about it when you order. Maybe the restaurant gets a lot of people disappointed in their food (understandable here). I heard one of the male employees telling a customer that once you order that's it. No going back. Honestly, if they mess up your order and the owner/manager not willing to refund or fix it, call your credit card company and have them make it right. 5. Spring roll order says 2 pieces but I literally got 2 pieces of one spring roll. That's kinda like I never heard a pizza place say if you want 8 pizzas only to give you 8 pieces of one pizza. If this place was closer to chicago or on the west coast, it would be out of business so fast. The customer service here is terrible. We stop often for the Boba drinks and they are always good. First time we ate here. The food was not good and the first time all of us left unsatisfied. The kids had ramen without veggies and it was a big clump of noodles that were hard to separate and the chicken was disgusting on it. The Beef ramen was the same. No flavor. A big clump of noodles. My kids have never met a noodle they didn't like before and they both ate 2 bites each & were done. The veggie Pho had no flavor. Bowl filled to the top with rice noodles. I've had it before at sisters Thai and it's always so lemony & delicious. Here, I didn't want to take the left overs home. The Chicken Pho was mediocre. The egg roles they brought out were burnt on the outside. All of them. And they have big signs everywhere saying no exchange or refund so your basically stuck with burned or poorly cooked food. Owner is super friendly and nice, recognizes me every time when I come in which is nice. They have a ton of vegetarian options, which is awesome bc a lot of places don't even bother. The boba tea here is out of this world, and they have over 100 flavors which is awesome bc you can come here every day and almost never eat/drink the same thing twice. I've never had Pho before in my life. In fact I'm not even sure how to pronounce Pho. I thought I would try to start this review with a pun like other people that have reviewed places that serve PHO, but since I'm having that pronunciation issue, I decided to just skip it. I had some difficulty wrapping my brain around that as from the reviews I read I thought all PHO was kind of like a soup, I guess I'm wrong. I told you I know nothing about Pho! I ended up order the grilled meatball pho. Since so many Yelpers said the shrimp spring rolls were good, I order some of them too. Every other spring roll I've had has been fried, these were not. In fact it reminded me more of a sandwich rap than what I'm used to getting. Have I mentioned I had NO experience with Vietnamese food before? It wasn't until I got home and did a quick search on the internet that I discovered that there are different types of spring rolls. I like the spring rolls, they came with a peanut sauce for dipping and I thought they tasted very good. The Pho was interesting. I liked it. I can't compare it to anything, but I thought it was pretty good. The meatballs I had were different. I'm not sure I liked them as much as the rest. They had kind of a weird texture to them and the flavor, while not bad, was not something I thought wasn't all that great. The flavor of the broth and noodles was fantastic in my opinion. Be careful of the portion size. When I first ordered, I asked for a large. The lady at the counter showed me the bowls they came in, I changed my order. The standard size was more than enough for me, especially with the spring rolls. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and has the layout of a fast food restaurant. You place your order at the counter and then they bring your food to you when it's ready. The have a container at each table with spoons, forks and chop sticks for you to use. The service was fantastic and the lady working the counter was patient with me while I ordered. The food was brought out fast and hot. We were easily able to eat there during our hour lunch.
