I have been here three times. This is currently my husband's favorite place to go get Pho because of the proximity to our house, prices, cleanliness of the business, and friendliness of the staff. The food is consistent and we are always greeted when we enter. Staff is incredibly friendly and recognized us after our first visit. My husband was surprised at the enormous size of the Banh Mi. Pho Tai also doesn't skimp on the amount of tendon in the pho like many places tend to do. They also have a variety of noodle salads I have been meaning to try out. The staff here is very child friendly and are very patient when our 5-year old orders for herself. Pho Tai staff also does not mind when my daughter and I share the large Pho and will always provide an extra bowl for her to use. My family's intention is to eat here at least once a week. Very tasty, cheap food with good service. I've been here several times in the last few weeks, and highly recommend their carrot beef stew. It is so delicious, and if you come between 2-6 pm, they have a "happy hour" special and you can get it for $6. Great Vietnamese in Lacey. Who knew??? The BBQ pork bahn mi $3.99 was really meaty. It had a very nice balance of smokey, sweet, salty, and fresh crunch from the pickles/veggies. The bread is not baked in-house. They get it from a bakery in Federal Way, but it was toasty with a light crispness to it that did NOT tear up the roof of my mouth. Huge Plus! The pho $6.99 broth was a bit saltier than normal, but it had great flavor and a good amount of tender, flavorful meat. I asked to have one bowl split so my buddy and I could share a bowl. They not only split it, they filled both bowls to the rim with new broth. It was pretty much two new bowls, but only charged us for one. The waitresses were extremely nice and the thai iced tea $1.99 was a tall skinny glass, but tasty. The avocado drink was good, but the avocado wasn't very ripe $2.99. I've only tried the bubble tea - which wasn't blended well at all, the type of drink which starts of as a half assed lump of slush that quickly melts into the flavored powder and water it is. I went here twice. The first time I went here the food wasn't horrible but in comparison to the Tukwila Pho Tai? There is no competition from this location. The second time I went, I arrived at 9:30. I walked in and saw half the restaurants chairs were flipped over. I was told they were only allowing takeout and no dining in. Who essentially closes their restaurant for diners an HOUR before they're posted closing time?? Needless to say, I left and went to Pho Hoa. This would have been my go to place had they kept their dining area open until at least 10:15. Now I just don't bother because I don't want to drive all the way here to be disappointed. This place has quickly become one of my favorite lunch spots in Lacey. I have yet to try something on their menu that I did not thoroughly enjoy. Their banh mi is fantastic! Their bread just blows me away - I didn't know it was possible for bread to be both fluffy and crusty at the same time and yet still have so much body and chewiness! However, I got the matcha milk tea with red bean from Taiwan. I had my doubt that red bean would taste well with the matcha milk tea, but it turned out really delicious. This is my sons favorite pho spot and we can share the large pho, due to the giant size. One thing I love, is I always request my summer roll with no shrimp (I am allergic) and they always make it with no problem. So I personally love this place, but I understand there a few things that might turn people away. I would also mention I always get my food take and I only order two things. The Pho Tai and the teriyaki chicken. THE GOOD : The pho tai (it is also a menu item) is in my mind the best tai in Olympia/Lacey/Tumwater. Their broth is great and they really have their portions of meat to veggies to noodles down pat. This is my favorite food when sick or when it is chilly out. My partner loves the teriyaki chicken with gyoza. The best part for us is that not only is the food great it is cheep too. Which makes going out to eat an option for us. We get heaping portions (the large pho often lasts me two/three meals). The LESS GOOD: We have only eaten in the restaurant once. You need to go up to the front counter if you want to be seated quickly. They might not being you water unless you ask (we prefer to drink tea so this is a non issues for us). The restaurant inside is has a bit of a hole in the wall feel to it, but everything has always been clean for us, also you need to check out at the front counter when you are done. Their pho was absolutely one of the top three best bowls of pho that I've had. I ordered the beef pho and an egg roll on the side while my boyfriend ordered the chicken katsu dish. Both were very tasty and the egg roll was definitely handmade because the crunchy shell and flavorful filling was more than your generic store-bought egg roll. The broth of the Pho was rich with the perfect amount of saltiness. I always add a little bit of plum sauce and chili to mine but it would have tasted great even without that! We ordered an iced coffee to go which tied the whole dinner together. The staff was very nice and always had a smile on their face. Our food came out quickly and piping hot so we were in an out in no time. The small pho was plenty of food for me but they also offer a large size for those looking to share or eat a large meal. Unfortunately the food and service have gone way down hill here. Not sure what has happened but I used to enjoy lunch here three or more times a month. The last two times I came in I was disappointed. The grill must be dirty because the chicken teriyaki always has big black charred chunks in it. The rice is not pure white anymore either. And the service is really lousy. Today I couldn't even eat my chicken after biting into a slice that was half raw. The Goyza tasted old too. Won't be back again. When to visit my brother in lacey and order from this restaurant. Total is 21.71, the cashier told me theres no change asking if i want to round up. I gave the cashier two 20s and she change me 8 dollars. I left and took my son to the beach and called them to let them know. They said i didnt call them the day and the girl said cashier that day said she didnt take 20s. I told them you can check your camera and see, but they said their camera is blurry. Nothing special here. We came in on a late night around 10pm. It's one of the only ones open in this area and we were so hungry from driving all day. Strangely, I've never seen a Vietnamese restaurant charge per egg roll, but the kids wanted them, so we got it. I really hate this inconsistency. Seems they just throw whatever they have an abundance of in there. Sometimes they do potatoes too which I find gross in curry. Yay a new pho restaurant a mile and a half away from where we live! We have been here 5 times since they opened two weeks ago! Yes we love Pho!!!!! The portions are large and they give you lots of meat. The broth has the perfect flavor. It's like a bowl of heaven on earth :) Their beef stew is really good too. I always get it with rice.
