Goi cuon is good, and they took milk tea off their menu. Waiter was a middle age man who didn't come by to refill our water and the table did not have straws for our cups, which I use when I am out in case they haven't cleaned their cups well enough, I don't want to feel like I am putting my lips where some stranger did and they didn't clean my cup well enough. Egg rolls here are good though, and on summer days I'd recommend their noodle dishes rather than pho, which I think are better suited on colder days =) read more

This place blew me away!! From the excellent customer service to the delicious food!! When we came in, we were greeted greeted right away by two workers and told that the wait would be 5 minutes (all the tables were filled). Less than 5 minutes a table got up and the workers quickly bussed the table and sat us down. They took our order and the food came out pretty quickly. I ordered the vermicelli bowl with egg roll and bbq pork. My fiancé ordered pho (rare steak and flank). Both dishes were delicious! The bbq pork had a nice flavor to it and the egg roll was also really good! I loved the pho! The broth had the right amount of flavor to it. You can tell they boiled the beef bones for a while to really get a nice flavor. The only thing I wish they could do I'd give more meat in the pho. But besides that, everything was good. Stumbled upon this place about 15 years ago. It's a gem of a place. There are several pho restaurants around but I feel this one makes the best pho . It's nothing fancy but the food speaks volumes. There chicken wing appetizer is delicious and crunchy. I've had several different items from the restaurant and all were delicious. read more

The place was clean enough, the service was fast enough with no communication breakdown and the prices were fair enough. Give some breathing room for authenticity. First time here on 12-12-22 . As we walked in my husband said why do they have a mess on all the tables ? Menus, serving wear, sauces, napkins just everywhere on each table. Kind of if someone was getting ready to clean tables . He started moving them to another table so we could sit. The lady said no. Then we realized that's the stuff we where going to use. LOL. We have been traveling by RV through areas that do not have Vietnamese restaurants so we thought this would be a treat to have Pho Soup and it was. With Covid restrictions all dining was outside under pop ups or umbrellas. We ordered a large soup and spring rolls. Soup was very tasty and enough for us to split between us. The service and food was provided quickly which is handy if you are there for lunch break. Recommend for take out or a no frizzle atmosphere. read more

I used to live in Gilroy about 10 years ago & this was my favorite Pho place. My husband and I were passing through and I have a cold so I wanted some pho. I ordered for pickup and they said it would be about 5 minuets. Great. I went to pick up. Friendly service. $12 for a chicken pho.... the price has definitely gone up, but hey, I always remembered them having great food so I was okay with it. Once I got to our hotel & pulled out the broth, I was surprised to see a very very light yellow, almost clear broth. I always remembered it being much darker but figured maybe they had switched it up. Once I tried it, I realized it was lacking flavor. Almost like they just boiled the chicken for 30 minuets instead of the authentic process.. They did not include a lemon / lime in the bag which I think is an essential addition, especially when the broth was already so bland. For the amount of money I spent, I received a very small portion of flavorless water broth, noodles & a few pieces of chicken. Really disappointed & wont be back. read more

The Yelp information for credit card is wrong. They do accept credit card! The whole thing is self service and you are called when your order is ready for pick up. You will have to carry your soup from store to outside your table. And nobody would open the door for you. I just wonder how one person can do this: you have to use your both hands to carry your soup and you do have a third hand for opening the door. We came from Los Angles. We can eat inside or outside with good service. But here you still have to eat outside and get no service at all. Although they offer no service, they still charged service. And even worse, they asked for additional tip (started from 15%). read more

Pro's: Still as delicious as it was in my childhood! Ordered their egg rolls, special combo pho with a guyabano shake with boba--boba is so soft and fresh--I loved it! Always loved their pho, solid flavor, solid bowl! Still is my favorite place to stop by when traveling to the Bay from central California! Cons: If anything their tendon could be softer and you have to wipe down tables yourself (there is cleaning materials provided outside), as well as being a bit pricey but it didn't take away from the experience and nostalgia!! We don't live in the tea but drive through regularly to the Bay Area. We stopped here to have the best fish tacos at our favoriteMexican restaurant. To our dismay they were closed. So we decided to walk a couple of doors down and eat aT Pho Thanh An. When we walked in the place was busy (we got the last table). We were greeted and seated right away. Menu provided lots of choices and we settled on beef stew with wide rice noodles. We both had regulars which was plenty big enough. The beef was soooooo tender and well cooked. This review is for the pho. After a midday Costco excursion, I suggested to my mom that we try this place because neither of us had tried it before. Figured it couldn't be that bad with its 3.5 star average on Yelp, right? Wrong. The pho here is by far the worst that I've ever had. I ordered a pho dac biet xe lua, which is the large version of the bowl that has every sort of meat in it. The first disappointment that I tasted was the broth. There was very little character to it. It lacked all the spices that you expect from a good pho broth, as well as the umami taste you would expected for anything derived from meat or even with MSG. I would have been happier drinking from a can of chicken broth. The meat did not lend any flavor either. It accounted for the other big disappointment, actually. As anybody who ever eats meat can tell you, you need to cut against the grain to have good flavor. These guys cut perfectly with the grain for some reason. Also, the tendon came in oddly shaped chunks instead of thinly sliced pieces like you would expect from a good pho restaurant in San Jose. The prices aren't bad, and the bean sprouts and basil leaves are fresh, but they frankly do not matter when I would not pay at all to have anything like this ever again. Just go to San Jose or even Morgan Hill if you need a pho fix, or put your cravings aside and eat somewhere tastier like the Jack in the Box across the street. read more

En route to Norcal, we stopped by to grab for some grub. I remembered this place fondly from my younger years, as I used to come and eat with the parents from our drives to and from LA. The employees were friendly and had us seated right away. We ordered and quickly got: Pho dac biet: The broth was lighter than I remembered and didn't have as much beef flavor as MSG. I think they used beef boullion (however you spell it) with a good dash of MSG instead of the old school stewing for forever and a day. Rice with pork skin, egg, and grilled pork: I asked to nix the rice and add more veggies to make it a salad, but the lady didn't understand me. There was a meager half handful of pork skin, and the egg and grilled pork went to the bf, who loved it. Grilled pork was flavorful and on the saltier side, and the egg nice and hot, but I honestly got the dish for the pork skin...the rest was just too much for me. my husband and I came here on a whim because we were looking for a good fun place to eat. We have tried many places around the South Bay Area and low and behold we find this gem. It was so close to our place that we were surprised we didn't have to go far for a good pho. I Had the vermicelli with egg rolls. My husband had the fur with many extra ingredients added. Of course there was a fee but he was more than impressed with how it all came together. I was so happy with my selection that I can't wait to come back and order the same thing again and again. The people were friendly the server was friendly and we even got a chance to say thank you to the Cook. Haven't been here for a couple of years but pretty sure the last time was pretty bad too. Maybe I thought management changed with new ownership but apparently things are still the same. I ordered #39 seafood pho and he ordered a steak basic pho. As soon as the guy served us my husband spotted a black bug in his soup. We all looked to see if he was right to confirm it was a bug and him not mistaking it. But oh boy it had legs like creepy crawlers. So we had the guy take it back. My husband didn't want another bowl of pho so he asked to switch it up a completely different dish. A minute later the lady "boss" came out from the back and started yelling out loud to my husband that it's not a bug! And that it's from the lettuce and it's okay! My husband said no he saw what he saw. She literally took that shit out of the soup and smashed it with a spoon to avoid us seeing that it was a bug. Really?!! It was very unprofessional and we felt attacked. It's their dirty food that was served and she really made us feel like we were in the wrong. They need to make it right for the customers. Please stay away from this place. The pho is not worth it. My soup did not have any flavor. My nephew's beef plate was $20 bucks and they served like 3/4 pieces of meat. Me and my spouse love Pho so we happened on to this location. They were a little busy so we knew we'd have to wait but after we were sat we received no acknowledgement. Not even an "I'll be with you". We waited for at least 10 mins with still no acknowledgement till we finally just got up and left and went to M Noodle &Cafe where we received excellent service and the food was amazing. read more

I did appreciate that this restaurant was very clean and not cramped at all. I can't complain about the service because let's be real, this is an Asian restaurant. I think I actually got pretty good service: my order came out quickly, nothing was missing or messed up. I got the large steak pho (#23) and shared spring rolls with my family. The spring rolls didn't have enough flavor, even with the peanut sauce. I think it needs some carrots and bay leaves. The steak pho wasn't that great. There wasnt that much beef and it was really dry and overcooked. At least they didn't put much MSG unlike other pho places. Their large is pretty big for $6.70 and it's filling so I can't complain about that. Hmm, I'd say this place is more like 3.5 stars. Not the best pho I've had but for Gilroy I'm sure it's as good as it gets. I'll probably be back but I'll try other dishes instead, like their #14 pho. read more
