Order Only for myself so just pick their Fried Beef Noodle Outside: easy parking Inside: old style, setting like during C-19 Menu: authentic Chinese dishes, photos attached Customer service: five stars. I asked if possible to add some eggs, the chef (owner?) asked how I like the egg, with onion / green onion, etc. He also asked what utensils are needed. Food quality: four stars. The fried noodle is with "spirit of wok" . Five stars if a little less oily but still acceptable. The sliced beef are not treated with "baking soda ". Don't want to be rude and leave a one star on a struggling business, but 12 pm on a Sunday and that place was dead. Should have taken it as a sign, because the food wasn't very good. The sweet and sour pork was tough and dry and tasted old. Some pieces. Looked like they were fresh, some pieces looked old and refried. . The chow mein was cold, and the potstickers tasted frozen. Affordable lunch plates. Definitely a single guy operation. Found it to be inedible honestly, and frankly a real concern for getting food poisoning. The 2 issues I have with this place are. It's hard to communicate with the workers they do not speak English. They do not take debit or credit cards. They are all cash. I heard them tell me $12 Total cash on the phone order. When I got to the restaurant they wanted $20 cash. Only had the $12 cash. So I was forced. to leave behind 2 egg rolls. They repoed my 2 egg rolls. It's fine take them. Just give me the meal. That left a bad taste in my mouth. they could not even give me the 2 vegetarian egg rolls. they took them. lol geeez. Alright. CASH ONLY. Golden China is in the same plaza as Dollar Tree and Ross (about halfway in between the two) and offers plaza parking. This is the best-tasting Chinese food I've had in Morgan Hill so far and I've tried at least 3 other places. It's cheap, fast, has good flavors, and there are large portions. All the other places in Morgan Hill have been way too salt and greasy, but not here. I tried the chicken salad, house chow mein, beef broccoli, and Kung Pao shrimp and it was less than $40. Yes, the cashier was a bit short, but not completely rude. Maybe I'm just used to a lot of Asian restaurants with this same type of service. However, it didn't bother me that much as I just went in to pick up my food. There is minimal dine in seating so I would recommend taking to go. I liked this place and will go back! I'm on a journey to find a local replacement for my go to Chinese restaurants I left behind in San Jose. Especially in search of a great hot & sour soup. I've tried 5 local places so far and I haven't found one yet ! I tried 3 things here : house chow mein, Chinese chicken salad, and hot & sour soup. The chow mein was average, the chicken salad would be ok with a different salad dressing, and the hot & sour soup was very strange. It looked like they took egg flower soup, added some chili oil, tofu, and I'm not sure what else. It didn't have any bamboo shoots or the proper mushrooms and it had a strange orangeish tint. It was spicy, but it was NOT hot & sour soup !!! My daughter liked the chow mein, but she likes almost all chow meins. I may give this place one more chance by tasting other entrees and maybe the won ton soup people are commenting about. Only time will tell. Hopefully things will get better. My first impression of the place was it's clean and has a very relaxed ambiance. We called and ordered our dinner for pick up but the woman who answered was very friendly and helpful. The portions are not big like most chinese restaurants serve. I was told the portions could feed a family of 4 but it was only enough for about 2 ppl. The entrees we're about the size of half a to-go box and a little pricey. We ordered Mongolian beef which didn't have much beef and a ton of onion and chili pods, the beef broccoli was flavorless, chow mien was good, salt and pepper spare ribs were decent, and we got garlic shrimp with veggies but the shrimp was overcooked and crumbled texture but was not bad tasting. Our bill was about 93.00 and we felt it was a little pricey for the amount of food received. I do think that this is one of the best chinese restaurants in Morgan Hill. read more

The food is good but not really what I expected. We order hot and sour soup. The soup only has tofu, egg and a little wood ears, nothing else. Hot and sour soup usually has pork, bamboo shoot, Wood ears. They put mostly tofu, not much of anything else. We also order Mongolian beef. We got beef satay with bunches of vegetables. That is not Mongolian beef. Not sure if the lady took the order got it wrong but it was definitely not Mongolian beef. Really really long wait if you order there. This is the dumpy take out by the Dollar Tree. I have passed by this place for twenty years and never once thought that I should order food there. I was surprised. The food portions were bigger than I expected (10 pot stickers in one order). Very interesting Kung Pow Chicken ( lots of veggies ; I loved it). The Chow Mein was nothing special, but edible. The Beef with Broccoli could have been cooked a bit less to keep veggie crisper but had lots of flavor. All that at $40.76!! One thing that needs mentioning is the prices on here are not accurate. The items are about three bucks more than the menu here on Yelp states. I asked about the prices and I was told they have no affiliation with any online advertising, never posted anything on internet and said they wished they could take their restaurant out of it! This food was nothing like it was in the pictures. The sweet-and-sour pork looks like coated charred mystery meat, the Mongolian beef was bland no taste. The combination fried rice was decent. And so was the lemon chicken. But if you look on the menu the prices have doubled and they have not updated the prices, so don't be surprised when you get there like I was when you pay about twice as much as you planned. I've been coming to this place ever since I was a child, and it has never once changed. The food, the portions, the prices - it's ALL stayed the same for over 20 years, and that is a great thing. I moved up to the Sacramento area in '05, and every time I come back to Morgan Hill I will ALWAYS go out of my way to go back here. Call me biased with the 5 stars, but I love this place and it brings me back. Could the interior use some work? Sure, without a doubt. But I come here the way I did 20 years ago with my mom - take out. Where else can you get a large combo of beef broccoli with fried rice and chow mein for only $6? FIRST- This place should be shut down by the health inspector. I don't get bothered by the old, not polite Chinese family running it. I don't care that their English isn't good like some other posts. The lunch/dinner specials are huge with heaping amounts of chow mein, fried rice and whatever "main course" you choose plus an egg roll. It's enough for two meals! Their beef with broccoli and their shrimp with broccoli are quite good, but my favorite is their house won ton soup. The won ton soup is loaded with shrimp, beef, pork, chicken, veggies and won tons. I totally forgot how portion sizes work at Chinese restaurants. I got two orders of the chow mein and fried rice each and one order of the egg rolls. I thought that should be okay for two people. Not until I got the food did I realize it was okay for a mid-sized family. I ended up having Chinese food for dinner that night and breakfast and lunch the next day. The food was so good I could have eaten it for 3 days straight. Instead of accidentally ordering too much food like I did, next time I'm going to do it purposely. This little restaurant is probably the best Chinese place in Morgan hill. If you've never eaten here before you should probably go in and look at a menu and find what you want instead of calling in. Some of these reviews are saying this place is bad and terrible service. But they are here to make food and serve you. I've never gotten sick from their food and my family has gotten take out here for years. We decided to try this place due to reviews on yelp. We were looking for a good take out Chinese place and sad to say, this was not it. This place was simply just ok. The food was nothing special and chow main we got was somewhat cold. The Kung pow shrimp was yummy but we didn't really enjoy their lemon chicken or fried rice. We were also disappointed with their fortune cookies, which were dark and seemed extra crisp. The place was dirty and old. There were dirty plates and trash and candy on the floor. My husband had been coming to this place since even before he and I met and that was almost 20 years ago. This place is family owned. They have great inexpensive lunch plates. The family is always very pleasant when taking orders and they are super fast. If that isn't enough for you to trek on over they also give you a lot of food so you are definitely getting a bang for your buck here. I have been here for lunch probably 50 times. They have a big menu of lunch specials that are all 5 dollars and 3 cents. The lady always trys to pay for the 3 cents as well and just give you 5 bucks change from a 10 and that means a LOT to me. When I finish a lunch special there I feel a heart attack coming on literally 10 minutes later. Here is an example: "Hello Golden China" "Hi I would like to order a number 5 lunch special" "Ok ready in 10 minutes bye" "Bye" Thats what I'm talking about. I tip for takeout in here every time because I get great satisfaction from knowing that Panda Express will not be getting my business. I HATE Panda they represent corporate greed while this place represents small town local businesses which I would rather support any old day of the week. If you want a huge lunch for 5 bucks I recommend the mongolian beef, cashew chicken, or sweet and sour pork. Comes with a side of fried rice and chow mien but you can get white sticky rice if you want. Also comes with an eggroll for free. FREE EGGROLL. Growing up in the place many referred to as "Morgan HOLE" keeps me from visiting my hometown and many times causes me to drive right through without a single stop. Since not many places convince me to venture around the old stomping ground it's odd that this place does. I've been stopping in here since late 2000 and the food has been consistent all these years, nowhere else in Morgan Hill serves fast greasy Chinese food this tasty and finishes it off with large portions. A few tables dot the bedroom sized diner area and pictures of combo meals with their respective numbers line one wall. Ambiance and atmosphere aren't a selling point here, so it really is the food that keeps me coming back. read more
