I was in Tacoma today. Carpooled for a couple reasons. Anyway we hit up this place for a bowl of pho. Actually I popped in earlier for Thai coffee and it smelled so good I told me party we have to go for lunch if they're down. lol so we went back for lunch and it was fantastic. I'm picky about pho protein and they let me double up on my selection. It was wonderful. If we are ever in town again this is definitely a great option. Street parking right in front of the store(s). It's across the street from the courthouse so if you're ever called for jury duty this is a perfect option. It filled up quickly during lunch. But everyone seemed comfortably spaced out. I've come here once and they were quick to greet, seat, serve. If you're new to Vietnamese food, definitely give this place a try. As someone who eats a lot of Vietnamese food (out and homemade), this is not a place I'd frequent personally. My cohorts (graduate students) and I were in middle of eating until I see an abrupt pause in one of my cohort's movement as a whole. I saw her eyes start to open wider and it was obvious something was sickening in her stomach. She slowly pointed, a fly in the food. A dead one. Although small, a fly that was apparent to everyone who saw it. After getting the attention of one of the ladies, a lady takes it back to the back of the kitchen. To make back to class rest of us start paying and my cohort who just experienced a fly in her food is called to the cash counter. After a brief interaction, basically a lady from the kitchen (paraphrasing): "It's okay one fly is not a problem, happens all the time. As you can see no fly back here in the kitchen, it probably happened in the dining area, as you can see lot of flies here" Not even a single sorry or apology. My cohort was not even looking for an apology. Just an appalling response. Yes, I called and reported this restaurant to the county's health department. Came here with a friend during dinner break from the convention center - great convenient location, fast service, yummy food - what more could you ask for? Location - just a block from the convention center, easy walking distance. No parking lot, you'll have to park on the street. Ambiance - Hole in the wall feel - plenty of seating. Clean. Service - Super friendly owner, very patient as we decided our order and when I switched multiple times as I was trying to decide. You can tell she takes pride in her restaurant and wants customers to have a good experience. Food - I got the grilled chicken noodle bowl - love all the fresh veggies and the light sauce - not too salty and great for a hot day. Grilled chicken was juicy and flavorful. My friend got the pho - I forgot which one, but she really enjoyed hers as well - pretty standard. Recommendation - We came at the end of the day. My friend did not finish her pho and the owner topped off her broth in the to-go container. Super generous!!! If we're ever in the area would totally come again. I do like this place, it was a fun restaurant to chat with friends after class. it wasnt busy so we got our food pretty quick and the lady at the counter was nice. My only problem is the prices. Being a restaurant directly lined up with the UW, id expect most of their business being students. But after ordering just a regular pho and thai tea, the total came out to $22. Which just isnt really in a student budget. Maybe thats just me. Really liked the place, pho was good, tea was a little sweet but friendly staff. Just a little too pricey for a restaurant on the same block as a university. I'd definitely stop by more often if it was a bit more student friendly :) read more

A good campus choice if you're ever at or around the U! Their price is a little pricier than most places, but also you're getting some quality pho. Take it from someone who is Vietnamese ;). I haven't tried any other items outside of their pho bowls, spring rolls, and drinks. But I will say that I haven't hated anything I've had. Service is very nice and quick. I also would consider heading in before or after the rush times. Lunch seems to be the busiest times I've seen this place, later dinners not so much. I've been here twice. They're friendly and the food is great. The wait can sometimes be a little long, but that's ok with me. The last time I was in, they gave me 4 free potstickers with my order, which was super sweet. I love potstickers. The pho is delightful. There's a lot of packaging involved in takeout, but it is absolutely necessary. Please keep that in mind.... But the location is pretty good and convenience for students. Amazing veggie spring roll! I can't emphasize this enough. I don't even typically like veggie spring rolls and I came back twice during my week long conference and took one to go as well. I also enjoyed the veggie pho. Very friendly service, they seemed to recognize many of the costumers, even me when I came back a few days later. This Pho located in UW tacoma school, even though there pho is not the best but not the worse, but it is the only option we have for Pho, so I can get by with it. However, today incident was unacceptable, me and group of my friend got a break and I asked them to have lunch at this Pho place. we all ordered Pho, one of my friend bowl of Pho has a little bug in there. I mean, instead of saying sorry or apologize, she said the "BUG IN THE BOWL IS NORMAL, YOU ARE NOT GONNA DIE BY EATING THE BUG". It pissed me off. It showed me that the owner doesnt care for customer health and ruthless. I feel pissed and so shamed on my vietnamese people at the same time to my friends. We will never come back here, and i will ask all of my friends in the UWTacoma not to come there. this is not about personal anymore, I'm worry about my health and other people health and how this ignorance owner treat her customers. It was soooo cold one day in Tacoma that we bought overpriced Washington State hoodies at the college store just to survive. And right next store, we discovered this awesome Pho place, where we sat in our new hoodies and watched freezing people walk by as we sipped the noodles from our soups and laughed at them. Decent flavor for the banh mi, but the bread was soft not crispy. I didn't mind it, but not the crispy banh mi sandwich I was expecting. The whole meal seemed to be missing the green veg I've traditionally seen on banh mi, spring rolls, and pho. Banh mi was slim on the cilantro and no jalapeño. Spring rolls lettuce was white. The attention to detail that Sandra, who I believe is the owner, gives to each meal is beyond what you would experience in many more expensive restaurants. She gives you individual attention, as she came out to ask me if everything was ok with my meal. It was great, but I got the impression she would have remade it had it been not good. I have seen a few reviews complaining about the prices, but honestly the prices are about what you pay for a meal almost anywhere anymore. I don't mind the prices for the quality that I got.
