I go to Pho restaurants wherever I can find them when I travel as Lexington only has one and it is across the city from me. I really like my experience at this restaurant in Brandon, FL. The staff is warm and welcoming. When they found out I was from KY, they chatted me up about their experiences driving through the state. The decor is a little dated, but clean. The pho was YUM! My only comment was that the noodles were slightly undercooked, but overall very good. The egg rolls were perfect- crispy, hot and flavorful. And the sticky rice dessert is my new favorite. read more

If you want a clean tasty pho restaurant, turn back around because this isn't it. Table was sticky, our plate was dirty and our eggrolls had a HAIR. On top of that, the owners prefer you staying home where it's "clean" rather than actually being CLEAN for a restaurant, pushing sanitary guidelines amongst the people working there. Our server who happened to be your typical owners wife, was touching her face and handling the register as she was serving us. We brought this up to her attention and told her to wash her hands before handing us a new beverage plus a refill on our drink which was empty for a good 10 minutes. This upset her so much she was talking shit cleaning the table two booths down. She proceeded to get loud and talk shit as we were still eating, which is very unprofessional. I finally got to pop in for lunch after months of passing this little gem. It's definitely very nondescript: nothing immediately draws you in with the decor, but the aromas coming from the kitchen are amazing! We started off with fried dumplings, which had a very good flavor. Texturally, I wish they were fried more, a nice crunch would've made a better contrast. I got a regular sized bowl of chicken pho, and my fiancé got a seafood pho. Just FYI, the regular size bowl is HUGE! I didn't try his, so I can't speak for the flavor, but mine was fabulous. The broth was pristine, very clear but still full bodied. It was seasoned perfectly, not overly salty, and it was very light with no grease or fat like some broths have. The noodles were toothy, and wonderfully cooked. But most impressive was the freshness of the accompaniments. The bean sprouts were crunchy, the basil was extremely flavorful and fresh, and the jalapeño and lime were the perfect bright contrasts to the savory broth. Overall, I was extremely impressed. This afternoon was my first visit here. Ever since I visited HCMC a few years ago, I got hooked on Vietnamese food. So today I had the" regular" pho with shrimp. Who's kidding whom? There was nothing regular about it. How about "awesome?" Delicious! Flavorful piping hot broth loaded with such wonderful fresh greens, peppers, mint, sprouts and shrimp. Overall restaurant was clean and staff was attentive. Food was good and we will be returning but nothing to write home to you Vietnamese mother about. We ordered the combo pho and Viet iced coffee with condensed milk. Great strong brew with fun presentation. Good veg but the broth was heavy on the star anise herb and also had a slight cinnamon scent. Again it was good but we are use to more of a beef broth flavor and less herb. read more

The food here is great! Not as good as some other Vietnamese restaurants in Tampa/Brandon, but it'll pass. Good service as well.

Most of you guys probably do not know but but one of the employees here was the manager at Pho Quyen in Tampa. I no longer need to make the drive to Tampa for some good pho! Everything is pretty much the same menu wise. I will definitely be coming back again soon. Since they just recently opened you can tell that the wait staff and the bus boy was a little inexperienced but they are slowly but surely learning! My husband and I love this place and go there often. The food is very fresh and the service is outstanding! I don't eat meat, just seafood occasionally. They have several vegetarian dishes to choose from. If I want something on the menu that normally has meat in it, they are most accommodating to replace the meat with extra veggies, seafood or tofu. My most favorite dish is the veggie pho bowl...nom...nom...nom.. If you know Brandon...it's where the old Pizza Hut restaurant used to be. Every restaurant that has been there since Pizza Hut has went out of business. So if you like Vietnamese food...check them out. :-) I promise that you will not be disappointed. I sure hope they will continue to stay in business here in Brandon... So this place is the bees-knees!!!! I haven't been able to find a vietnamese place that makes the pho right since I tried one in Hawaii (Pho #1). But This place.....they did it right!!! The seafood pho is out of this world; the fish balls are done right, and the most important part...the broth...it is SO tasty and delicious. This is one of those divie looking places. Don't be fooled I'm eating one of the best meatball pho ever. It's loaded with herbs and noodles, tons of flavor and probably more than I can eat (not complaining). Service is good as well! I can't wait to try some of the other dishes. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Brandon! I'm vegetarian, and unlike a lot of restaurants, they'll make almost everything with tofu instead of meat. My favorite dish is the stir fried basil tofu. This place does an amazing job with one of my favorite dishes! Always fresh ingredients and absolutely delicious! I also absolutely love their vegetarian summer rolls with peanut sauce! Again, you can definitely tell the ingredients are so fresh. After going there for 2+/- years, they only put chicken in my dish 1 time, but they made it up very quickly. (You would be surprised how many times I get meat in my dishes at many other restaurants.) Also, we get seated immediately, food comes​ out fairly quickly and staff are attentive, and prices are very fair for large portions of food. I agree with others that the atmosphere and restaurant need touching up. However, the pros outweigh the cons, so I still give them 5 stars! read more

It's nice to see another Vietnamese restaurant in Brandon. They have quite an extensive menu, just like you'd see in NYC. The wait staff are still in training so service was good but not very efficient. The food came out quickly and was good but not great. I LOVE the food here. The atmosphere is a little beaten down, but the hospitality and delicious food far out weighs any hesitation to try it. They usually have only a 10-15 minute wait for take out. Just went to this restaurant last night. LOVED the food. SO SO good. Just had leftovers for lunch, which reminded me to write this review! : ) I'm used to a Pho place in Boston, and was worried I wouldn't find food as good in Brandon, but it is! Mind you I only tried a couple dishes, but they were really good. I had the Chicken Pho Rice Noodle Soup: To. Die. For. That's all. I could eat that every day for the rest of my life and I'd be blissfully happy. We also tried the (very large) Vietnamese Pancake. My first time having that. It is fried outside, inside is bean sprouts and I'm not sure what else. You roll a bit of it inside a lettuce leaf and dip. It was really good. I sort of would compare the experience to the sweet crunchie bits on sushi - which I also love. My husband had the meat trio stir fry with egg noodles. That was super good too, and had such interesting flavors. But out of the 3 dishes the Pho wins hands down - my opinion. The servers were really pleasant. One was helpful when asked how to eat the pancake, explaining it without making us feel silly for asking - and also seem happy and proud to share with us the way it would be culturally eaten (with hands). I really enjoy when folks take pride in their culture and enjoying sharing it with others. : ) The atmosphere isn't so hot - though it is clean and functional. But I won't dock them any points for it. One of the servers actually said they were recently closed to spruce it up and do some landscaping... I could be wrong, but I assume they are a small business or family owned, and are trying to make a go of it. I sort of feel that you start with putting your time and money into making sure the food is awesome (which it is and they are), then when you see some return on your investment you put more money into aesthetics. It would be nice to both at once, but I understand that sometimes you can't. I would hope to see them doing super well business wise, then an overhaul on looks. But honestly, who really cares if its clean and the food is great. The Pho place in Boston is bare bones and sits you with strangers, but its always packed because the food rocks. Tip to management: make a drink menu. Your beers weren't listed on the food menu, or even evident that you sell them inside the restaurant. Had I not seen a prior reviews on drinks I wouldn't have thought you had them... I actually still don't know if you sell mixed cocktails or wine...? (The Vietnamese beer was really good) Also, have takeout menus at the front counter. I usually grab one on my way out of places and keep them at home to sift through when I don't feel like cooking. Shocked! No other way to put it. My wife and I had seen this restaurant coming and were anxious to check it out when it opened. It took a few weeks for the parking lot to get busier. So, we finally got our chance today. My wife is Filipino and I am prior service (been all over Asia). We are very picky when it comes to Thai and Vietnamese food. We started with the Viet veggie and shrimp roll, it was full, big and tightly wrapped; very fresh! Delicious. The best part of all was when our food arrived. I had the Ca Kho To and my wife had the chef special spare ribs. It did take a little while for our food to come out but I would like to believe it is because of the care put into it. The first bite I had almost made me fall out of my seat!! WOW! That was the best caramelized catfish I have ever, ever had in my life! My wife couldn't keep her spoon out of my clay pot. The ribs were near perfect, needed a little more sauce. But, all-in-all the food plainly rocks. It's great to have a Vietnamese restaurant nearby that is better than just average or good. This place has GREAT food. We can't wait to get back. The staff were friendly, very attentive and prompt. They could use a few more condiments on the table to choose from. Don't let the outside appearance fool you. I've been to some of the dumpy (dangerous) parts of Asia and found some of the best food in the world in back alley hole-in-the-walls. read more
