Got my "go to" order at a Vietnamese/pho restaurant, which is the pho tai - the broth is very flavorful and delicious here. Will definitely return to try more items on their menu. :) If you need to use the bathroom while you are here, you have to walk outside of the restaurant and go around to the back side of the restaurant to use the bathroom. Not the most unique restaurant name but the pho broth taste legit, so it is all good. =) I wasn't so sure at first because Whittier isn't known for Vietnamese food. We walked in on a Friday night and it was definitely bustling. I liked the interior, bright, spacious and clean. Menu consists of more then pho actually. There were rice dishes, vermicelli, appetizers, noodles and dessert. Prices were very reasonable with most dishes under $10. I ordered the #2. Rare steak, well done (huh??) brisket and tendon in a small ($7.50). Loved that it came out hot! I love my soup noodles steaming! Broth tasted fatty and rich like it had been simmering all day. What I wasn't really a fan of was the meat...I didn't think there was enough. I got a little of everything, but I felt like I ate a lot more noodle. Also ordered a coconut smoothie ($3.50) and it was good. Not to sweet and very refreshing. Staff was efficient and service was good. I was so excited to visit Pho Whittier--finally a Pho place in Whittier! The noodles are great--the portions are a little smaller than what I'm used to but the taste was comparable to other great Pho places. The location itself is a bit small but hopefully it won't be a problem when this place gets more business. The staff was nice and happy to see people enthusiastic about Pho. Came here for the first time as it is the closest place to my residence offering com tam (broken rice). I ordered the combo with the pork chop and fried shrimp cake, my wife got the pork vermicelli, and my daughter got chicken pho. All of the food looked very promising. I was very excited. But the first few bites were just a little off, something was weird. I could not place it, but there was definitely a very distinctive taste that I was not used to. It tasted like it was seasoned with nutmeg (Chi Nhuc đau khau) or cumin (Thì là Ai Cap) or some other strange spice. I had to stop eating about half way through. I asked my wife to try it just to make sure I wasn't crazy. And sure enough she could taste it too. But then she mentioned she had the same taste in her vermicelli. -1 star for the strange taste I have checked several authentic recipes and cannot find anything that explains this flavor. On a side note, another customer had a 4 or 5 year old boy that was screaming, running around the restaurant, spinning the seats on the bar stools. And no one did anything. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. When my daughter was young, we did not bring her to restaurants very often. When we did, if she started to fuss, I brought her outside right away so as not to disturb the other customers. Ya, sometimes I could not finish my meal, and my wife had to get it to go. But much better than getting the evil eye from the rest of the customers. But this goes beyond, letting the boy run around the restaurant like it was a playground? Deplorable. Shame on the mom, who was there with her friend, and shame on the restaurant management for not stepping in to say something. -1 star for the lack of management intervention. Was asked to give more detail on how to approach this: As for the waiter or waitress, they should not do anything. It is the Supervisor, Manager, or Owner's responsibility to approach the customer and remind them the restaurant is not a playground and politely ask them to take control of their children, or take them outside for a breather. I would be very curious to know what the mystery flavor is. But also, someone does need to realize they are in charge there, and not to let the customers take advantage of them, or abuse their privileges. I love the pho at this place! They give the best customer service and serve amazing food. I highly recommend the egg rolls. They are not too greasy and the sauce is to due for. I've been here on more than one occasion and the quality service and meals have been extremely consistent. My friends and coworkers frequent this place in our spare time and we have had zero issues. The only "complaint" I have is that it's too small, so you may not always find seating if you get there during rush hour. It's kind of a hole in the wall place, but it's definitely worth the search. Came here for the first time about a month ago and was pleasantly surprised to have found a good pho place. Inside was clean, modern and smelled nice. ( no sticky tables or broken chairs) Although it was a small place, it still made my friend and I feel welcomed and comfortable. :) The pho is pretty delish, however, I've been to sooo many pho places that I suppose I prefer a little more broth flavor in my pho soup ( was a tad bit watery for the one I had). I am a new Pho fan and tried this place out because of all the good reviews it had. Let me just say, those reviews are well deserved. I was very impressed with the quality and quantity of the Pho with such a great price. I ordered the veggie pho and it was loaded with bright broccoli, carrots, bok choy and flavorful tofu. I ordered my meal for take out and when I arrived to pick up my meal I was greeted by friendly staff. They packed my pho with plenty of bean sprouts, basil, and lime on the side so that I could add as little or as much as I wanted. I'm biased since I am Viet, born there along with my mom being an awesome chef, so, take this was a grain of salt. Just like their fried dishes. Food: The food isn't authentic Viet, not to say the owners are not Viet themselves. It's fast food Viet made with inferior ingredients and well, fast. The pho is generic but good if you've never had that real experience made from your mom or grandmother. Kind've like me saying Olive Garden is good, therefore I expect that when I go to Italy, (..first off, no, just no). The noodle dishes left more to be desired. I prefer Silver Palace House choqmein even if that's Chinese and this is Viet. The fried dishes were oily, and overly salted. Who gets boba at restaurants?!!! Under no circumstances should anyone order boba at restaurants- if it's not at a tea house. Don't even at a donut shop. Ever. Along with lollicup, and quicklys. End rant. Meh, I would go to Sup in Buena Park. A bit more costly but you'll see the difference. Although this place is good for those who are on a budget. We just tried this place and we were impressed. Not so much by the service, but by the food. Don't get me wrong, the service wasn't bad, it would be better if the personnel were a bit more friendly though. A couple of them walked around with faces that yelled,"I don't want to be here!" Again, the service wasn't all that bad. We didn't have to wait to be seated, get our drinks, get our order taken; nor our food. Everything went smoothly and we were served quickly. Our glasses never went empty. The food was very tasty. My wife had the chicken noodle soup and I had the seafood noodle soup, which was delicious. It was packed with shrimp, crab, calamari, squid, fish balls, and even one muscle. I was really impressed. I was more impressed by the taste. Boy was it tasty. We also shared the shrimp & pork spring rolls. They were also tasty. As mentioned in other posts the place is small but we were easily able to find seating. This pho restaurant had amazing pho. Lot's of great options to choose from. I had rhe number 28 with rice noodle with well done added to it. The dumplings were perfect, the broth was delicious. The service was very fast ans i loved the interior design. Very spacey and it felt very comfortable. The serving sizes are pretty large so i recommend if you're not that hungry get a small! We wanted to try this place because my in-law's said they heard good reviews about this place. When we first arrived, we heard music with profanity, so we were kind of turned off by that because we had our toddler with us. I was surprised that they had music with profanity because it looked like a restaurant with a family setting, not a club. We asked them to change the music because we didn't want to go out of our way in finding another pho restaurant and they did; however it didn't seem like they were happy to do it. We got our food quickly and the food was mediocre. However, POOR customer service because after they served us our food, they never came back to see how everything was going for us.
