I've eaten here multiple times and have never had a bad experience. The service has always been fast and friendly. I've only had the pho and it's excellent. The broth is made in house and contains no MSG. The meats are tasty and the bean sprouts are always fresh. They are always willing to bring out more srirarcha/hoison sauce. I have gone back for their Pho at least 3 times in the past month. It is great. I love the eye round beef pho and just recently had shrimp added to it. I have yet to try the other types of pho- really hooked on the eye round beef. When I looked up reviews on this place before going there everyone was raving about their grilled pork sausage summer rolls. They are rave-worthy (absolutely delicious). I found the Pho broth to be too sweet, and the beef was tough or overdone, and didn't come out nearly raw as usually is the case with pho. I had a rice dish with beef that was bizarre, again because the beef wasn't up to par. Prices aren't high, but tend to be a little more expensive than most Vietnamese places. Went there for an early Lunch. We were the first ones in there. About 15 minutes after their opening time. Typically Pho would be considered an inexpensive meal. But pho yum does something here that I've never seen anywhere else. They charge a la carte for all their toppings/ meats! They even charge extra for hoisin and hot sauce! Most other places. After ordering my $14 pho it took over 20 minutes to come and honestly, I would prefer the instant type. The rice noodles were over cooked and the broth was very bland. I was not impressed. Quality was meh and overpriced for the small amount of food they give you. We started out with the spring rolls. It came with a watered down sauce not the usual peanut sauce that most restaurants give to you. I ordered the vermichelli dish with shrimp and beef. The beef was red in color like it was either marinated in some strange sauce or it was fake processed beef. Again not the usual medium rare beef that other restaurants serve you.The shrimp were small and unseasoned. For $2.50 I expected more than 3 small shrimp. Not impressed AT ALL! The server did not bring out any sauces we had to request and than did not come out with sriccha either. Could not explain why my ginger mint iced tea was red in color either. Will not be returning. If I can give it a negative stars or none, it would've been my preference. Stay away from the Banh Mi - not worth the $7.53. I was craving for a Banh Mi sandwich. What a disappointment!!! Especially since a banh mi is a traditional Vietnamese sandwich. Came to this place because most other pho places in Albany are closed on Mondays. The pho was ok but really didn't hit the spot. Broth was kind of bland, bean sprout portions were small, and very little meat was given even though I ordered two different kinds of meat. Actually overall portion size was small. being from California, where Vietnamese food is everywhere, my standards may be a little high. but if I order in Vietnamese and you don't understand me, then this isn't Asian food! it's AMERICAN Asian. the noddles are under cooked. the portions are small. the "summer rolls" aren't anywhere near fresh or rolled tightly. the extras that are given for the pho are minimal and they look at you different if you ask for more than what they already give. I just moved back to Albany from Seattle, Washington. I saw Pho restaurants everywhere in Seattle but before I left, I didn't see a single one in Albany. When I returned, I heard good things about this place from a friend, and I always wanted to try Pho. I came by here for lunch, and was very impressed. Everything on the menu was also reasonably priced as well. The service was very attentive and catering. Since it was my first time at a Pho restaurant, the servers were more than happy to explain what everything was and how to order. I kept it simple and ordered Pho soup with chicken. It didn't take long for it to be made, and the meal came with free bean sprouts, Hoison sauce and hot sauce (Both were delicious.) I took one sip of the broth and it was very flavorful and fresh. I then mixed the sauces in the broth which made it even better. I unfortunately didn't finish the whole bowl of soup because it was a lot of food. When I walked up to the counter to pay my bill, the servers asked me how everything was, and seemed very glad to have my business, and said good bye and have a nice day when I walked out the door. While I can't compare this to any other Pho Restaurant since it the first I have ever been to one, it certainly is delicious and a welcome addition to the Albany area. I'll certainly be returning when I have the opportunity, and recommend anyone to try this place if they can. read more

Went for lunch, was greeted by the smiling and cordial Linh. We got Pho (with chicken), banh mi and summer rolls (shrimp). Having spent a lot of time in Hanoi with one of the best Pho restaurants right near my usual hotel...Linh's was excellent!!! The broth was rich and tasty and the noodles just right. Summer rolls were crunchy and good, peanut sauce was great. Banh Mi was great (and had bacon fat, yum yum and yes the pate was a good taste)...and the roll was absolutely the best (even beat the bread in hanoi and HCMC where the rolls tend to be very crunch but too "airy" on the inside). This is real Vietnamese food folks. Yes, you place your own order (not a big deal I had to laugh when someone complained about that). Yep, there have been lots of Asian places in that location that have flopped...Pho Yum won't be one of the failures..but the success. I ate at Pho Yum on Friday. I'm not sure what's up with the 2-star review, because the shrimp pho I had was as good as anything I've had in the Bay Area or elsewhere. The noodles were a little weak, but that was more than made up for by the flavorful, slightly sweet broth. I had a good taste in my mouth for a long time afterwards. No particular service problems. It was our second time here. Worse than last time. The rice plate is really just rice, with some sweet source and some white radish. The shrimp I ordered with rice is not freshly grilled. 8.75 is cheep, but still not worth it though. The vegetables come with noodle is not fresh too, the noodle itself broke into pieces. I do like Vietnamese food, and have been a lot great Vietnamese restaurants. But unfortunately, this is the worst. read more

Okay taste but not worth the price. The bubble tea I got from them was only 3/4 full and the they only put 3 pieces of beef brisket on my pho, which is a little cheap.
