We stopped by Phoebe's on our trip to Olympia to visit the in-laws. The food and pastries as well as the coffee were delicious! My husband had the breakfast biscuit while I had the large bowl of the fruit salad and a small bowl of the veggie salad. I initially ordered the small bowl of the fruit salad, but once it was played it looked too good; and they were sweet enough to change it to a large. We've been here three times in two weeks. What does that tell you?! Friendly service. A lovely variety of tasty treats which makes it really challenging to choose. Great lunch options including soup, a fantastic variety of sandwiches, and salads. Their quiches are tall and fluffy with a flakey crust. I know we will keep coming back. They charge tea by the size. So if you want some extra hot water with that tea bag, be prepared to pay for what would be free without the teabag. Or just bring your own teabag and then ask for hot water. read more

I enjoyed a breakfast egg sandwich in this quaint sandwich shop. The portion was sufficient and prepared well. I think I need to come back for lunch though because the lunch options looked fantastic. I resisted the yummy looking desserts -- I guess I have to return for that too. We were a rather loud group of women but we were still welcomed. The cinnamon rolls were wonderful. The bear claws are not bear claws but chocolate filled croissants SHAPED like bear claws. Decent in general though a tad pricey and I am so sick of stores that take your card and automatically request a tip. Not cool. read more

Phoebe recently catered an event for me with over 120 people in attendance. The event totally exceeded all of my expectations. Phoebe is a pleasure to work with. She is so fun and creative. I am visiting the Washington area on a business trip when I came across this little gem. I was in town for one week and found this café on my second day. I went on Tuesday the eight of this month and had mixed reviews. The food was delicious but the customer service was lacking. The lady who help me made me fell like a bother and when I asked how she was she answered tired. They do not wear name tags but she had dark hair and blue eyes. I decided to give this place another shoot today. I was greeted by a lovely young women who made me feel welcomed. She was young with dark hair and very petite to be working in a pastry shop. The food was as good as a remembered from before but the welcome I got made me want to come back. I am sorry I leave tomorrow. read more

I work near this place and use to go in on a regular basis. Terry and Jenny are my favorite people to see working and they always remember my name. Always very inviting even when there is a rush. The food is delicious and worth more then they charge. Phoebe herself is also very pleasant. But I decided to quit going back so often because of the new staff. I will walk by to see if either Terry or Jenny are working but will not enter if I see the other girl that works upfront. This sounds harsh but she makes me feel unwanted and like I am interrupting more important tasks. I even over heard her tell another regular customer from the complex that she was not his friend when he referred to her as one of his friends. I love this place and continue to go there when ever I see certain people working. Great little hang out. Everyone should try this place! read more

I just celebrated my daughter's first birthday, and I'm so glad that we ordered the cake from Phoebe's! Phoebe made a littler "smash" cake for my daughter, too. It was perhaps the best chocolate cake I've ever eaten in my life--with layers of mousse and cake. Yum! The food is good but limited menu and pricey. It's a deli/bakery of sorts. They have a delicious turkey sandwich that comes with gravy, cream cheese and cranberry sauce. Plan on spending close to nine dollars for that. The one on Black Lake Boulevard has only a few seats. It is nice to have it right across from the Department of Licensing office where I work. read more

Thought I would give it a try as I keep seeing the A board posted outside. I liked the atmosphere it had a cozy feeling. The quiche I had was pretty tasty but it didn't have that wow factor. Coffee was good but nothing special. I didn't try the pastries but they looked really good! Many people after me ordered pastries and were ecstatic when ordering so they must be good. TURKEY CRANBERRY HAVARTI PANINI! Absolutely amazing. I have tried just about every sandwich in there and they are all fantastic. Phoebe also makes a yummy tortellini salad....May fav!! Great staff with smiling faces! Such a cute, fun place to grab a quick, well made lunch or stop in before work and get a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Every single item here is quite delicious! Okay, I haven't tried the sandwiches, but the salads, cookies, pastries, and meat (and veggie) pies are better than home made (and I consider myself a highly competent home cook!). I have been going to Phoebe's Cafe for awhile now and have been served delicious coffees and pastries. But recently they have hired new staff, including new baristas, and I am thoroughly disappointed. I got two lattes today and they were undrinkable. They did not taste like they had any flavor, were not sweetened, and had a burned espresso flavor. Ever since hiring the untrained staff the coffee served has been very disappointing. read more

I went for a Reuben sandwich. I had heard RAVE reviews about the sandwiches, etc., and, as a transplant from the East Coast, I was excited. Alas, I was doomed to disappointment. They PULLED A PRE-MADE SANDWICH FROM A CASE and "grilled" it. To call it a Reuben sandwich is doing a disservice to Reuben sandwiches. Yes, it had bread and corned beef. BUT, there was SO little sauerkraut that it barely made an impression, and, in retrospect, THANK GOD it did not have a lot of Russian dressing, because the bread would have been soggy from having had Russian dressing on it since God knows when. For $7, I also expected a handful of chips or a pickle spear, AT LEAST. Nope. Nothing. I also had a cookie as a dessert - I've made better cookies using a Krusteaz mix - although, to be fair, the cookie was very pretty. So, my recommendation is a resounding DON'T BOTHER. read more

Not customer service oriented at all, money hungry owner. The price showing under 10 is a joke. The sandwiches are good for sure but they are 7 a piece for such small portions, then add on a beverage, a side salad/pasta or soup and you are well into $15 dollars. The owner is rude, we went in for "free coffee" day and yea we got free coffee but she was pissed and gave us attitude when we didn't order anything. If you don't go back on the regular you get glared at when you do go back. Lately the customer service has gone down hill in the last few months. I used to go on the regular even though it's expensive because I like to support local businesses. But the service I have gotten lately has been awful. They post that they serve certain things and when I go in to order it, they don't have it and give me attitude about it. Phoebe is over priced for baked goods and doesn't care. She wants people with lots of money to come and doesn't care if you can't afford it, her attitude is fine, don't come if you can afford it. Her cookies are 1.99 each and when she does a box of them for special events they are not discounted at all, you will still pay 1.99 for each cookie in that box. She refuses to have coffee punch cards for those who come on the regular. read more
