My wife called Phoenix Appliance regarding a nagging issue with our Maytag washer. Isaac called back and walked me through some tests over the phone. Between that and the error codes he determined the water level sensor appeared to be the culprit. I asked him how soon he could get the part and repair it and he told me it was an easy repair and I could do it myself. He gave me the part number so I could order it online. Told me where the sensor was located and briefly described the replacement. I found a YouTube video that showed it clearly. The part arrived a couple of days later, took me about 20 minutes to replace it. It's been working great since, no errors. Man I hate giving bad yelp reviews to small businesses so I will start with a quasi positive - after rendering our fridge inoperable, Issac came on a Saturday and after 5PM two days to try to fix it. This is a long story so it is below, but the Cliff's Notes is - Issac rendered our fridge inoperable, did not take any accountability for breaking it, showed no urgency in fixing it, and here we are two weeks later without a working fridge and he's refusing to help us pay for a replacement and telling us he is going to charge us for the time he spent trying to fix the problem he caused. The fridge had a small leak but was working like a fridge/freezer should (fridge keeping things cold, freezer keeping things frozen) until Issac came to fix the leak. Issac came to fix the leak while my husband was in meetings, left without a note, phone call, or text at about 2pm, and our fridge was visibly not working (lights flickering then completely off, panel not on, etc). Both my husband and I were obviously alarmed that our previously working fridge was not working anymore and called Issac several times, but he did not pick up or call us back until 630 PM that day. He did come the next day (a Saturday) to try to fix it but was unable to fix it. He then went radio silent and would send a text once a day around 5-6PM every day telling us he was looking into it (meanwhile, we still dont have a working fridge). When he finally got whatever part he needed, he came over and tried to fix it but was unable to. When it became clear he was not going to be able fix the fridge he had broken, he started talking about "helping" us with the warranty but could not tell us timelines or how he was going to replace our fridge if the warranty process did not work. When we pressed him that we had not had a functional fridge for weeks, he told us he had other clients to tend to like we were being demanding. This is not a one star review because Issac rendered my fridge inoperable - I get that stuff happens and he was, at least originally, not acting with malice. This is a one star review because Issac has refused to take any accountability for breaking the fridge, and was openly hostile when we started pushing him about a replacement when we'd been without a fridge for several weeks. He told us he didn't break the fridge because it was already leaking (even though it worked, albeit with a leak, before he touched it), that it was our fault for having an expensive German fridge (wut. if he was incapable of fixing our expensive German fridge, he shouldn't have tried) and that we weren't his only clients (if he has other clients with fridges he broke - yikes). Now I'm looking at having to entirely replace my fridge (I would have happily just put down a dishrag for that minor leak forever!) and pursuing reimbursement from Issac. I'd avoid this shop at all costs. read more

He showed me how it broke from me letting the lid drop too fast. I really appreciate him taking the time to teach me how to not break it again. Next time one of my machines goes out, I'll call Isaac. Great response when first contacted and excellent diagnostics and repair of our clothes dryer. Thought it was the door switch which would've been an easier repair and after that was eliminated, it wound up being the belt when Isaac took it apart. Lucky me...he had a belt in stock and got the dryer going all in about an hour and at a very reasonable cost. The experience couldn't be any more professional and satisfying. We called Isaac to assist with a 10-year-old washing machine that had an issue with one of its computers. After the first extensive diagnostic session, he had a suspicion for what the problem was but said he was going to return the next week to do final troubleshooting and recommendation for the repair. We paid the $120 diagnostic charge and patiently waited. He returned the following week, took the machine apart, couldn't fully diagnose the issue but said he was going to get back to me with part numbers and an estimate to replace some of the electronics. I'm really impressed by Isaac, the repairman. My "usual" repairman (a good guy) came in to repair my washing machine, and discovered that it needed a new pump. Due to his vacation plans and the need to get a part, he was not able to fix it, but wrote the diagnosis on his invoice, suggesting that I get someone else to do the repair. I called at least half a dozen repair people, and they all insisted that they would have to first come to make their own diagnosis (and moreover would not bring the pump, on the off chance that the first guy was right). Using them would likely have required two visits, with the associated waiting around and expense. Then I came across Isaac. What a difference in attitude! He agreed to pick up the pump and came out the same day. Then he fixed the machine much more cheaply than the first guy had estimated. Isaac is smart and professional. Instead of charging me a non-refundable diagnostic fee like some of the other places, he actually helped me diagnose it over the phone. He then walked me through the process and I was able to resolve the issue myself. First time using Phoenix Repair and I must say the experience could not have been better. Isaac was excellent. When we first spoke on the phone, he told me that he was not planning to make any calls between Thanksgiving and Christmas, as he had travel plans during that period. Still, he made a small window for us between his trips and fixed our old washing machine. He worked quickly and efficiently, and did everything he could to keep our costs down. We have a Whirlpool refrigerator that was getting cold in the freezer, but not in the fridge. On the phone, Isaac asked me a few questions, and then recommended defrosting the fridge, saying that might fix it. It did. Apparently when we left the freezer door cracked open one time, it allowed the circulating fan to freeze up, so just defrosting it put everything back in order. I see from other Yelp reviews that I am not the first one to benefit from Isaac's expertise without any fee, but you can be sure that next time we have an appliance problem, Phoenix will be the first one I call. read more

Isaac has come to work on my dryer twice now (the dryer would spin but the heat wouldn't come on). The first time he was quick and efficient, and very friendly and knowledgeable. Just now, about 4 months later, we seemed to be having the same exact issue, and he was very timely in responding to my message and setting up a time the next day. He figured out the problem quickly (a wire had become disconnected was all), and generously fixed the problem free of charge. AMAZING!! Isaac fixed my washer when NO ONE seemed to be able to help me. He was on time, honest, informative and extremely helpful. My washer needed repair and I had 3 people tell me they would simply not work on a stacked washer & dryer. Two repair people came out to do the job. One told me they needed special equipment to pull it out of the laundry closet and would call me to make an appointment. They never called back. A second who came out and said they needed two people to do the job and set a second appointment to fix it. They never showed up during the 4 hour window. Isaac did the job all on his own. I've never met Isaac in person, but he gave me the best advice over the phone when I called him about an error message I was getting on our Miele Optima dishwasher. According to the owner's manual, it had to do with the intake hose, and to call for service. Isaac diagnosed the problem over the phone and suggest we check the air gap for any debris that may be clogging it. We did as he suggested and the dishwasher worked again, no more problems!
