Run by a lovely hippie holdover desert rat, this hostel is your typical bunks in a large room affair. Decent enough AC to keep you alive and comfortable (even cold) over night. Ridiculously great kitchen (I had to change my boxers after seeing the range) and amazing table for large group meals. As far as hostels go there isn't much to complain about. Except the bunk beds. They're frighteningly creaky. One strong earthquake and you've got squished hostelers. Walking distance to downtown, a handful of decent bars and a punk venue. Makes me happy. The many hostel (the movie) accouterments lying about are a bit terrifying - crowbar, saw, hatchet et.al. The torture porn possibilities are endless! Fortunately our group left with all of our fingers and toes.

Garden is nice. The place is decorated outside tastefully. NOW ROOM AND SHOWER IS ANOTHER STORY, service is good.Bed was an old wooden double decker Bed, hinges were making constant noise, when the girl up tossed she was not happy as well in mor morning said Hinges are old Every toss was like an earthquake and she tossed LATER I THOUGHT HOW MUCH IS A GOOD DECENT BED, OK u get here tired want a good sleep and definitely I recommend airbnb.u never have experience like this. Also showers dirty Also fan on whole night and a cold night All women coughing by morning Hopefully be fixed

Run down but friendly. The place needs major renovations, but the beds are comfortable the sheets are clean and the people are wonderful. My only suggestion would be to install a water filter or provide shelter water. The water in the water dispenser comes from the tap. Phoenix water tastes like mud.

The hotel is inspired by the colorful and folk art influenced works of renowned mid-century modern architect and designer Alexander "Sandro" Girard. The hotel's bio says he was the main source of inspiration for the design of the Andaz Scottsdale. The property is beautiful to walk around, with all the landscaping, flowers and trees; some of them are marked with what kind of plant they are. There are century plants and aloe and various cacti. The fitness center is located at the spa. It has windows which open up onto the pool, which is a more private pool than the main pool. The staff is outstanding. Savannah, who ran the front desk on my most recent visit, is absolutely amazing and really helped with any questions or small issues with my stay. The restaurant is wonderful for the hotel breakfast. I recommend having cocktails there too. You can see a beautiful sunset from the bar. I love the open design of this hotel resort because it makes you feel like you're in the countryside and you can admire the beautiful views of Camelback as you walk around the grounds and hear birds chirping. It's so relaxing. Parking is easy and you can usually find a spot right outside your casita room as the parking circles the hotel. Toiletries in the room smell so good! Lavender with sea salt. It's really like staying in a spa! One of my favorite experiences at this hotel was taking a late afternoon outdoor class at the spa/gym on the large lawn where we did stretching/light resistance training with the the sunset behind Camelback Mountain as the backdrop. It was glorious. I definitely recommend trying one of the classes or "experiences" if you stay here. Some of them you have to pay extra for, but a few of them are included with your room rate. At first glance the hotel interiors and architecture seem extremely simple and minimal, but then you realize it's actually all a piece of mid-century modern inspired art. It's really fun to walk around and admire all the understated design details at this hotel.

The fourth floor looks terrible -- there are empty, broken-down rooms and the hallways feel neglected. The carpet on both the fourth floor and first floor is in very bad shape and looks like it hasn't been maintained in a long time. Inside the rooms, the flooring is actually popping up in areas, which makes the whole place feel worn out and poorly maintained. Overall, the hotel just looks very old and neglected now. The elevators are another concern. They make loud noises and honestly sound like they could break at any moment. There is also an unpleasant smell in parts of the building. When you get off the elevator and walk toward the lobby, you can see construction going on, which only adds to the messy and rundown feeling of the property. This place used to be a great stay when we first came here, but now it's honestly pretty shameful to see how much it has deteriorated. The location and concept are great, but the hotel clearly needs serious maintenance and attention.

(bathroom made me feel icky, couldn't bring myself to get in that shower) the next day i had to speak to someone about extending my stay because i ended up needing a little more time than i thought. the woman at the front was so rude about it and i couldn't help but think "why are you mad at me for spending even more money here?". i was charged a second security deposit because i booked through a third party which is fine. so at the end of this all i paid for 3 nights and paid THREE separate $100 security deposits. i asked for a later checkout when i was ready to leave. she rolled her eyes at me "there's one at 12 and one at 2 for $30" i said ok lets do 12. she rolled her eyes again and said "i'll let housekeeping know". the only positive about the entire stay was JENNIFER at the front desk. she was there on the first day to welcome me and was so nice and so helpful. too bad her coworker had to ruin it. there are much better hotels in phoenix for a much better price with much kinder staff.

I invited four girlfriends to join me, and each of them booked their own rooms. Unfortunately, after spending four days at the property, I can confidently say this was one of the most disappointing luxury hotel experiences I've ever had. The problems started at check-in. The front desk associate barely engaged with me, offered no overview of the property, amenities, or resort experience, and didn't ask whether it was my first visit. When I mentioned I was celebrating my birthday, there wasn't even a simple "Happy Birthday." I was handed a key and what turned out to be a property map, with no explanation whatsoever. My next stop was the concierge desk to inquire about pool cabanas. I was simply told they were sold out. No alternatives were offered, no waitlist was mentioned, and no effort was made to assist. Instead, I was told to look at an outside website myself. At a luxury resort, isn't the concierge's role to help guests find solutions and make arrangements? When I later asked if the resort did anything special for birthday guests, the concierge emailed me a list of items I could purchase. That response perfectly summarized the level of hospitality we experienced. The room itself was another disappointment. It felt outdated and in need of renovation, hardly what one would expect from a luxury property. Ironically, when I later visited the pool and asked an attendant about cabanas, she immediately offered to place me on a waitlist in case of cancellations--an option the concierge never bothered to mention. The following morning, I spoke with a manager, Alley, about my experience. She apologized and offered a $100 food and beverage credit, which I appreciated. However, when I returned to my room, I discovered something far more concerning: one of the pillows had visible mold on it. Since I don't sleep with pillows, I hadn't noticed it the first night. As I looked closer, I found stains on the bedding, pillows, lampshade, and even areas of the room that clearly had not been properly cleaned. Housekeeping came and changed the sheets and pillowcases, but shockingly left behind the actual moldy pillow. At that point, this had moved far beyond a service issue and into a cleanliness and health concern. I reported everything again to management. The additional response was a $50 credit. At this point, the property had failed in virtually every area that defines a luxury hotel: guest service, concierge support, cleanliness, attention to detail, and problem resolution. My friends who booked rooms experienced similar frustrations with both customer service and housekeeping. We ultimately spent much of our time dining at restaurants off property and even rented a cabana at another resort because our experience at The Phoenician was so disappointing. For a stay that cost me over $2,000, offering a total of $150 in credits felt completely out of touch with the severity of the issues. The amount wasn't the problem, it was the lack of accountability and genuine concern. I rarely leave negative reviews, but travelers should know that this property did not deliver anything close to the luxury experience it advertises. Between the poor service, moldy pillow, cleanliness concerns, and overall lack of hospitality, I cannot recommend The Phoenician. I will also be filing a complaint through Marriott Bonvoy regarding my experience. Luxury hotels are defined by service, attention to detail, and how they handle problems when they arise. Unfortunately, The Phoenician failed on all three.

The staff was friendly throughout our stay, and the overall property has a relaxing atmosphere that makes it easy to enjoy the sunshine and scenery. We booked an upgraded suite with a separate bedroom and TV room, which gave us plenty of space to spread out. While the layout was great, the room itself could use some updates. The bathroom fixtures were older--the Kohler toilet didn't flush well and was a bit noisy, and the tub/shower combo had rounded sides that made it tricky to stand comfortably. The shower water also never got fully hot. The room had a slightly musty smell, and the carpets would benefit from a deep cleaning. The balcony screen door didn't close tightly, which let a few flies in, and access to the second floor required two sets of stairs since there's no elevator in that section. Even with those issues, the resort's location, views, and overall vibe made the stay enjoyable. With some room refreshes and a bit more maintenance attention, this could easily be a standout property. The setting alone is worth experiencing.

I found a great AAdvantage Hotel deal at the Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort and booked it. While it was a great success of a visit in terms of AAdvantage miles and loyalty points, my actual experience at the hotel itself was less to be desired due to the customer service and a big snafu on their part. I also have Hilton Gold status, though as I booked the hotel through a third party site (AAdvantage Hotels), I could see the stay and the stay history in my Hilton app, but I did not receive any benefits for staying there, which was fine as I didn't expect any anyone. I arrived in person to check in and already reserved and prepaid for a King 1 Bedroom Standard Suite, which had a nice view and reasonably spacious room (but not too much larger than a regular room at another hotel). The room was certainly not upgraded though there was parking available right in front of the entrance. I did not receive anything else at check-in nor did it appear that I'd get my regularly complimentary water. I did pay the daily resort charge which includes high speed internet access, access to the Falls Water Village, an hour at the tennis/pickleball court, an hour at the afternoon golf practice facility, two hours for a mountain bike rental, 20% off seasonal spa services, and 15% off select golf apparel. While I didn't use it, I had easy view and access to the Falls Water Village where you could lounge and play all day on their sun-marked terrace where you could find free-form pools, hot tubs, and cabanas. They even have a 138-foot enclosed water slide. When I checked out, I was told that a bill would be sent to me shortly since I did it on the app early, and when I received the bill, there was a charge for my room at the restaurant at the top of the hill called A Different Point of View. The catch is that I never went to eat there during my stay (or at any onsite restaurant since I live in the area and had my meals offsite). I reached out to the hotel who insisted that I did go there to eat. I promised them I didn't eat anywhere onsite and that they need to look at the receipt and see if it actually has my room number. They confirmed it did and that this meant I ate there. I told them to find my name on it and let me know if it was on there. After several more back and forth conversations, they confirmed it wasn't me and would remove the charge. They then mistakenly charged me double. Then they removed one charge, but it took more than a week before they removed the other charge. By the end of the exchanges, it felt like they were blaming me for their own mistake. While the resort is aged and rather pleasant, there certainly are training issues regarding the customer service offered at this property. I do not plan on staying here again in the future.
