Phoenix started off strong. Then, customer service and communication went right out the window. I had a pretty major job; $12,000 worth of work to be done. Each time Anthony was scheduled to come out, the appointment was missed, there was NO communication to let us know nobody would be showing up and no follow up on their part. On a Friday, we had a meeting scheduled for the work to be done. As the window for our appointment came and went, we had to constantly call for information. Nobody came out. AGAIN. The following Monday we were not afforded a follow up call about our job, and for the rest of the following week NOTHING. Wow! Really disappointing. I would say a really pretty crappy way to do business. Was forced to take my business and money elsewhere. read more

Beware of Phoenix HVAC. They terminate our service agreement that we paid for because we left a poor, but honest review of their service. They tried to tell us that we requested it to be terminated, which we didn't, and even if they thought we had why wouldn't they honor our request to reinstate it? Since they wouldn't honor the remainder of the service contract I requested to receive the prorated amount for the remainder of the service contract. They refused to provide any prorated reimbursement, stating that the last year of the three year contact was "free", and that we only paid for the first two years. Below is the email I received from Maggie, and when I spoke to her on the phone about the issue she just kept telling me this is what she had decided, and these are some of the consequences of social media reviews, and eventually hung up on me. Below is the correspondence from Phoenix that clearly states we purchased 3 year contract. "By deactivating your account I provided you with what you have explicitly requested. The membership is designed to build a partnership with customers through providing Free Visits. Lastly, the Google Business Post shown below from 7 weeks ago further substantiates this partnership was not upheld on both sides for some time. As I said in my previous email, it makes me very sad that we could not get on the same page. We certainly tried very hard. We wish you every success moving forward." We had a great experience with Phoenix HVAC this weekend. We had been having issues with our air conditioning flow, and sent messages to different companies late on Friday night. Phoenix responded incredibly quickly the next morning and came by to do an assessment. Bob and his coworker were really friendly and walked us through how to fix the air conditioning issue. They answered all of our questions, and were not condescending or dismissive about any. We also appreciated that they weren't trying to sell us anything that wasn't standard, they were really transparent and helpful. First, I called early this morning and left a message. I got a response who was the receptionist I suppose. I told her my situation: My ac is not cooling. I checked the blower, compressor, outdoor fan and I cleaned the condensor coils. ALL ARE WORKING. I told her I think that I would only need freon. (this happened to me 2 years ago already) I asked how much was the service charge for a weekend call. She said $189.00 (acceptable) because its the weekend. I asked her what is the cost for 1lb of freon? She goes to look and was unable to find that anywhere on her list of cost. I ask, well can you call a tech and find out? She said sure. She called back still unable to answer my question. So, I asked her is there any way you can answer this question, because I don't like unexpected charges. So, she looked up a recent client and said they were charged roughly $95.00 per pound during the weekday which sounds reasonable and the going cost per pound for this area was between $80-120 based on google search. So, I said, well it can't be that much expensive on the weekends can it? She said, I know there is an up charge on the weekends and that I need to talk to the technician and I said well hope its not anything to crazy or something along those lines (I don't remember the exact wording). So, I continued to ask how I can become a member and some of their maintenance plans which my unit was installed in 2012 and she was nice to explain each level in detail and answer my additional questions. Then I asked well do you offer Military or Veteran discounts on top of that and she goes on to say, yes, I do believe we can honor that. So I said great, I told her that I would see how the job goes to decide if I want to get a plan and get back to her. FAST FWD. Paul theTech shows up. The guy did a good job for the most part. He asked general questions as in how often I change my filter (additionally he gave me a solid filter suggestion Thanks PAUL) , how often I change my batteries in my thermostat and when was the last maintenance done on my unit. I go on to tell him that I have never received maintenance because the unit has never failed and the the last time I called a service tech which was 2 years ago when I needed freon. I go on to tell him that I had a leak then but the tech was unable to find it at that time. Now mind you I do routine cleaning on my own unit every year. I take the top off the outdoor unit clean inside and clean the condenser coils on outside unit, and I keep the blower housing center clean of dust and cobwebs and debris. I do this at least 1 if not 2 times a year. So, Paul says well I'm gonna go outside and check on the unit. Roughly 10-15 min later he comes in and tells me that I need refrigerant only and and that I am low and I must have a leak (Which I already knew this before he even came through my door in which I already told the receptionist this too). So, he says well let me get some quotes for you. He sits at the bottom of my stairs and he says you ready and I said sure. So, we sat at the kitchen table to go over his quotes: I'm going off memory here because he has yet to send my the quote to my email and mind you this was 9:30-10:00 am. this MORNING. He is going through 3 different levels of maintenance costs the first one was insane. $189.00 TRIP COST (no problem) $332.00 for 1lb of freon AND $100 + for additional 1lb. That was enough right there I was heated. The exact thing that I tried to avoid was happening. Hence that is freakin exactly why I asked the question of How much does 1 lb of freon cost to the receptionist. I said, to begin with, this is totally nowhere near the cost that was given on the phone with the receptionist and that we needed to call her right now. He said I will. So he called his boss or sup. He gets off the phone and says it's the same cost. I was DONE.... So, needless to say PAUL honored my military discount and I paid the trip cost which was $179.00 discount. MONEY LOST! TIME LOST! These guys really worked to make the economics of the deal work. Their crew was exceedingly nice and the house cleaner than when they arrived. When they were done they made sure that they walked us through exactly what work they did, step by step, both inside the house and outside. What an amazing customer service experience I had with Phoenix. When I called at 7:30AM with no heat they had someone here within an hour an a half. When the part for my 14 year old boiler was backordered 2-4 weeks (I assume due to Covid challenges) they quickly had a recommendation for a boiler replacement. The unit was secured, financing was offered, and a crew was here the following day at 8AM to install. The two technicians worked past 7PM to ensure we had heat. I can't really say enough about how pleasant and helpful Maggie was in the office helping organize all this, and how personable and professional all the technicians were in our home. All of my experiences with Phoenix HVAC have been great. I first called them out to my home when some contractors working around my old HVAC blew a fuse, then when my heat stopped working and they installed a new HVAC and humidifier for me and then again to replace a faulty wire that burned out. Customer service is amazing. Quick responses and they keep you updated on timing throughout the day. They've always been able to come out same day and I've been very impressed with each technician they've sent out. Everyone has been easy to work with and clearly very knowledgeable / experienced in their field. I had a great experience with this small business to replace my furnace, humidifier, and AC unit! Phoenix came as a referral from a friend. I received several quotes from others and decided on Phoenix as they were competitive enough, but more importantly they spent time and energy explaining how their company came to be, what they thought was best and WHY, and taught me a lot about the appliances before I even signed on with them. As a first time home owner, I didn't know a whole lot about my HVAC and I now feel like I am armed with general knowledge and a backup to call the company as needed. Everything was installed timely, it looks better than before, and most importantly it all works exactly as expected. The guys were even nice enough to help with a few cosmetic things for me while they were here (nest thermometer, duct work, etc). After all work was completed and payment was finalized, I still had some questions and the company followed up with the same promptness as before. The two partners were courteous, smart, and very respectful. I also had experience with a couple newer guys who did some small follow ups and they also demonstrated the same type of respect. These guys are great! We have an yearly maintenance contract with them for our AC and hot water boiler. They are professional and do great work! They are also very responsive as issues arise. Our older hot water radiator system went down on a Saturday night. I called Maggie and and Bob (one of the owners) was out Sunday morning and repaired our unit. Our first experience with them servicing our space heater was everything you'd want from a contractor, and then some. Not only did they show up when they said they would, communication with them was perfect. From the home office to the service men, Phoenix is a great example of what a home owner wants in quickly answered phone calls to the level of professionalism the service people display. Kudos also for the great attitude showed towards my wife and sister in law who were there when I couldn't be. Used Phoenix to replace a furnace and a few hot-water heaters in our multi-unit property, and we were extremely pleased with the results. Before starting, they worked with us to select an installation that would both meet our needs and fit within our budget. They also did a top-notch installation. A couple months after the install I had a plumber in the basement for an unrelated reason, and he remarked about how impressed he was with their work. Most importantly, they were very responsive to our needs, and showed a lot of flexibility. Because we have such an old (120+ years) home with so many architectural quirks, the typical installation they were planning on doing wasn't ideal, so they ended up trying something new and making additional trips to their supplier to get the parts they needed for a non-standard install that would suit us better.
