The soft opening of their new Bloomingdale, DC location. The new location has only been open for a few days. The place was packed. The pho is delicious. The employees are delightful. The takeout packaging is interesting. All of the components are in a nice box. The broth is separate from the noodles. All the regular toppings come with, although their was hardly any Thai basil. They seem to still be working on the interior. I think for now you can only order in store, not online. From the moment we entered those doors to the very second exiting, the experience was delightful! We were greeted by the owner and before sitting down, he did a run through of the menu and I'm sure seeing me as a hijabi, he was considerate to point out what was strictly halal and what was not. Basically everything on the menu is halal besides the meatballs. Fortunately, I'm not a big fan of meatballs sooo not having it didn't matter to me. As the owner sat us down, he begin hosting and genuinely was curious to know how we came across Phoxotic and where we were coming from. A very humble guy. Coming to the interiors, I love the setup as it's like a bar style seating and you can see them prepping the bowls in front of you. I love the idea of limited seating because I personally enjoy a quiet place to devour my food. I feel like sometimes large capacity restaurants cause too much noise and makes some people overwhelmed. Food - I have had my fair share of pho in the past. But the way Phoxotic pho made me feel after the first bite... every other pho was below average. Call me an over exaggerator and I'll still praise the pho. Most of the time I remember the other pho places, the pho broth would be so bland that I had to add more sauces or spices to add flavor. Whereas Phoxotic pho, nothing was needed. That broth was all. I believe what made this pho the best pho for me was the flavors, portions of each items in the bowl and the various cuts of meat. I got the Butcher's Choice and my friend got the Works. Both beautifully presented. The minute I saw the bowl, I had to pull out my phone and take pictures because I needed to share this with my family and friends. There was a good amount of meats and I also added the bone marrow as I love marrow. The broth was perfectly seasoned and flavorful. This was my first time having flat pho noodle and I just love! I love that they didn't overwhelm the pho with too much noodle like other pho places do and just made sure to focus of the broth and cuts of meats. Beside the pho, I did get the chicken and beef rolls as the appetizer. I enjoyed both but prefer the beef ones to be slightly better. The size of the bowl is huge, I ended up having to take my portions as leftovers. And guess what, even at home, that little bit of pho was amazing. I know I'm definitely coming back for more, even told my food vlogger sister-in-law that I need to drag her to DC for this. She did not decline soo definitely see you soon. We just ate at the new home of Phoxotic in the Burlington at the corner of First and Rhode Island Ave. Wow. From the food to the service, it's all outstanding. You essentially have a chefs table from every seat where the chef/owner, Hai takes personal care of everyone as if they are family. For anyone that's been before, that means that he will remember you, might even remember your order and make sure that everything is exactly as you need it to be. As someone with food allergies, this is particularly helpful and important for me. I had a custom vegan bowl and from the broth to the wide rice noodles and fresh king oyster mushrooms, everything was perfect. I absolutely could have polished the bowl off, but brought it home so I could have it (tomorrow?, honestly later today is the most likely.). Hubby had the Butcher's Choice with a marrow bone (see video) and loved it. It's bar seating for everyone, when you walk in you order on screen and pay immediately. Seating is completely comfortable and has a back. As a very nice plus, the bathroom is spotless and huge. Get on over for in person dining or takeout. I'm definitely going to be a regular. read more

I have visited this place three times and like most places in the city, its already started going downhill. The first time I visited, the atmosphere was great and so was the food. The owner asked me how I heard about the place and we talked about how excited I was to have a new place in the neighborhood.. The second time I ordered, and my order was prepared incorrectly. I ordered extra noodles with one dish that failed to make it in the bag, and the other was supposed to have rare beef - instead there was a bag of uncooked steak in a sandwich bag. Today, I ordered some food to get on the way home. I walked in - spoke, and the man cooking looked me directly in my eyes and turned around without acknowledging me at all. After standing there for 7 minutes I yelled to the back for him to give me my food, which was sitting there when I walked in. At this point, I can't patronize this restaurant anymore. The pho ain't that good, the inconsistencies can't be overlooked, and the rude staff makes it a definite never spend money here again venue. read more

Saw a video from big schlim and came here. Too much tallow. It's overpowering. I get that they want to be different and exotic, but sometimes a classic approach would be better. It seems the Chef has the skill that's for sure so I was expecting to be Wowed immediately. This just my opinion and everyone's experience is different. Wow. Just wow. We got the butcher rolls, the butcher's choice pho with the spicy broth a build your own with the non spicy broth and tendon + bone marrow. The broth was SO flavorful, the meat was tender, and it is a good serving size. The owner was also super nice and welcoming. Just excellent. Wow. What can I say. This is some of the best, if not the best pho I have ever had. Look. I get it. Its a little more expensive. You think it's just pho. You want a cheap bowl of noodles. That's fine. Do you. Sometimes you just want McDonald's. If you want something good, *next level*, but still comfy and welcoming. This is it. That little Vietnamese guy cooking up his pho extra. Admittedly, I was a little skeptical watching the video. No fish sauce but also no MSG? Is this guy for real? Yooooo. But it is legit. The more I read up, the more I had to try it. 24 hour broth. To let that flavor really seep. It's not something usual. It had this umami thickness to it, a depth of flavor, different, in a good way. In the way the best chicken soups are compared to soup from a can. Fresh, local, thick noodles. It makes a difference. That little extra springy chew. That extra mass to hold up well in the broth. No soggy noodles. Quality. 100% Angus beef. Man. I've never had such tender, soft, flavorful pho meats. Tai, bo vien, chin. No corner cut select stuff. No fish sauce, no problem. Lots of quality meat and bones and stock ingredients in their broth add so much depth on their own. Flooding hoi sin and Sriracha to his pho would be almost like adding ketchup to steak. Sacrilegious. And the service was A1A+. They really care about their product and their customer. I got the Works. It's a lot food. All of it pretty tasty. While a couple of the items in it arent my thing normally. At least not in soup form, chunks of tendon, whole bone marrow. I'm glad I splurged on the extra premium to get the full experience. That oxtail. The rib. OMG. so much flavor. Fall off the bone good. By the end of our meal we just started using our hands. Didn't care anymore. I needed every last bit. Trying all the meats was the right thing to do. The Works worth a try for the foodie with an appetite. And still good enough I'd get it on rare occasion with the tendon and marrow. I hate and love to say I found a pho that might rival my homemade oxtail pho. I need to step up my recipe. He's given me some good ideas Try this place now before they really blow up. I write reviews sparingly, but was worth it for Phoxotic. This place is easily serving the best Pho I've had. The noodles were fresh and not clumped together, the broth was a deep, rich soup that they've clearly mastered, and the ingredients were all fresh. Phoxotic has returned!! Honestly probably the most consistently good pho in the DMV. I started ordering from them when they were just a delivery business and I'm so happy they expanded. The restaurant is set up like a Japanese ramen shop. A noodle bar where there is minimal time between when the food is cooked to when it arrives in front of you! The noodles are made in house and the owner is a butcher so you know you're getting good quality food. I got the special bowl and it comes with an insane amount of meat and as much broth as you want. There were 2 ribs, an oxtail, some brisket, and torched bone marrow. It was pricey but with the amount of protein you get I would get it again. It's a small family owned business that cares about the quality of the food they put out and the customer experience. I highly recommend trying them out and supporting them! This pho made me feel ill. The owner/chef here raves about being a butcher and extracts his own marrow. The amount of tallow he uses in his broth is too oily and thick. There's one thing to add flavor then theres another thing to over-do it. The broth is so oily that it makes you feel sick if you eat it all... even my lips were oily. Sometimes classic and traditional Pho beats a Pho bowl raging in extra potent bone juice. It's called Phoxotic for a reason because it's extremely exotic. The first time we went it was great but I was asked if I am breaking my fast with them so I guess they assumed I was Muslim which I felt was inappropriate. This last Sunday I got takeout from them and the flavor was off and they didn't give us any of the toppings so no bean sprouts jalapeños, onions, or lime. One thing I also find odd about this place is that they don't have vermicelli noodles for pho they have the wider rice noodles which I've never had in pho. read more

The portion size was small, the noodles were not what I'm accustomed to (maybe store bought?) and I've had better service and pho at a hole in the wall location. Customer service seemed to be better for the white couples as they were spoken to by staff. One of the best Phos in the DMV. They deliver too and I was very surprised at the flavor profile in the Pho Si Lato and the OG Bun. Both soups are tasty and flavorful without being too salty. Not only that but they also don't skimp out on the meat! We really loved this business and will definitely place orders with them again.
