My complaint is about the warranty and the lack of response and concern from the owner, Dennis to honor the terms of the warranty. This piano came with a 5yr warranty. I have in writing in a text by the owner that the warranty covers parts that are broken, need repair or replacement including parts and labor. The warranty does not include tuning or maintenance. Since I've had the piano I've put in 2 claims for reimbursement prepared by my previous piano tuner. One claim on 2/9/23 for $400 to lubricate whippens, and Jack repairs on C1 &C2. Second claim on 5/9/23 for $60 to lubercate Jack G6 and adjust C5. A total of $460 in the last 3 years. In December 2024 I finally had new hammers, hammerhanks, whippens, a complete action regulation, and a tone regulation of new hammers done to the piano. Why? Because those parts I mentioned were never replaced. They were the originals. It's a known fact that old worn parts as the ones I mentioned can be a significant loss of musical potential and the Pianos ability be a pleasure to play. My piano sounded in correct and the consequences were significant Here are examples: 1) Their was a loss of tone. The piano had a muffled and very harsh sound. The piano was not producing rich and clear tones. 2) The piano was very difficult to play. The worn actions made it difficult to control the Pianos touch response. The keys were constantly sticking, the notes were difficult to repeat, and piano sounded dead. 3) The last two years and 8 months I've had this piano I've noticed the pianos sound and structure deteriorating. An example : tinny, buzzing, and rattling sounds, keys do not return properly, and cracks in the sound board are most likely than not to be caused from worn parts. I complained in texts sent to the owner and his son the problems I was having with the piano. I was spending a significant amount of time, energy and money paying piano tuners including the owners son to tune my piano with no lasting effect. The old parts that I finally had replaced were the culprit bc now that I had this work done my piano sounds alive, beautiful, and the rich clear sound is magical. I had the work done by a professional piano specialist bc the owner of DC piano and son were unresponsive to my requests to have my piano fixed. I paid $7,800 to have new hammers, hammer shanks, and flanges, new whippens, complete action regulation, tone regulation of new hammers, fine tuning, and new key bushings. I spoke to the owner this afternoon to cover this under the warranty and he refused with a million excuses why not. I told both the son and father the issues I was experiencing with this piano and I was ignored. I believed from the first moment I played this piano at DC Pianos that it had potential and with a little TLC ithe piano would not be like new, but it would have a 2nd chance to shine and sound beautiful. My intention has always been to take care of this piano and with no help or support from DC Pianos I've achieved that.

I was shopping around and looking to buy a brand new Yamaha piano for myself and my child. I did…read moremy research and went to all the official Yamaha dealers listed on Yamaha's website, and Piedmont Piano Company was my final stop. I am very happy with their honesty, friendly service, and the best price I got among all the Yamaha dealers! I purchased a white Yamaha GC1M from them, and we are very happy with our purchase! Shopping Background: Before going throght this process, I have never bought a piano before. I got my aunt's old Yamaha U3 in Taiwan when I was 5, and I have stopped playing piano after entering junior high school. Shopping for pianos at other places: I went to stores in San Jose, San Francisco, San Mateo and more. What shock me was that most of the piano dealers from these stores were so much like car dealers!! Lots of sales talk that made me wonder was I shopping for a car or a musical instrument? I didn't like the impression they gave me even though most of them were pretty friendly. What was different at Piedmont Piano Company: The sales people here were not pushy at all. No artificial sales talk like "you should add this feature!" or "oh this was the best selling model." Just very patient and knowledgeble people. Later on I learned that the sales people at this store DO NOT work by comissions. One of my issues was the model that I originally looked for was not in stock, and the wait time for is ONE YEAR! Other sales at other stores were just trying to convince me to buy something else, but Ross, from this store, was the only person who asked me "what are you going to play while you are waiting for your piano?" Then he offered me a free loaner piano service after he learned that I currently don' have a piano. That gave me an impression that the people here are real piano / music lovers. They don't sell piano like selling cars! (Sorry I have no offense to good car dealers lol Of course there are nice and honest car salesmen out there too. Just in general we know how they are like). Decision: I went home and slept on the ideas. Then I re-arranged my furnitures and found out I have the space to get a bigger piano (which was in stock, no need to wait for a year). I called all the Yamaha dealers that I've visited and ask them for the availability and price. Jim, the owner of Piedmont Piano Company, promtly called all the resources he had and got me a brand new white grand piano!! Best of all, he gave me the BEST price!!! A price that all other dealers cannot beat because they still charge by comission!! I went back to the store the next day, and Ross helped me with all the paperworks & payment. He even gave me a small gift which match my interior perfectly. Arrival of the piano: The delivery was done through a 3rd party that they arranged for me. They were on time and FAST! The piano was professionally delivered and assembled at my house. Whole process was done within 15 min. Buttom line: If you are looking to buy a new Yamaha piano, buy from them. Very good price and great, authentic service!!! My child and I love our new piano!

We got our first piano recently from the Walnut Creek Music Exchange. Before we made this purchase,…read morewe visited a few piano shops and explored online listings. We ended up going with Walnut Creek Music Exchange for a number of reasons. First of all, their price is highly competitive. We purchased a used piano. The price offered was very good for a super well maintained used piano (they certified it before putting it on the floor). They also have a 10 year trade up program that we may apply every dollar that we spent on this piano to trade up for a different piano within the next 10 years, as long as the second piano is at least 2 times the price of the first piano. Their moving cost is super affordable, about 25% the price compared to other piano moving companies. Secondly, customer service is excellent. Store manager Carson blocked out one hour to spend with our family and patiently explained each piano to us. He even played songs on a few pianos that we were interested in so we could hear difference of the sounds from each piano brand. Lastly, their professionalism is unbeatable. The piano came within 2 days after purchase, tuned! They also gave us a free voucher to have the piano tuned again whenever we like within one year! We highly recommend Music Exchange Walnut Creek!

We walked into Music Exchange to look at their used upright pianos. We were immediately blown away by their large selection of new and used grand and baby grand pianos, upright pianos, and digital pianos. Of course some pianos costed upwards of $45,000 but others were very affordable between $1,000 - $5,000. Salesman Buddy showed us several affordable options and he truthfully told us the one we fell in love with was badly out of tune and offered to have it tuned for free before we made a final decision. As I was writing down my contact information for him, my husband and daughter fell out of love with the old piano and in love with a brand new digital piano which was priced $ 3,000 below retail price!!! No, Buddy didn't tell me this price difference we knew it as it was the new version of the old digital we just sold and did our homework lol The piano was delivered with white glove service to our house in less than 24 hours after purchase and now my house is filled with beautiful music again.
